Everyone's going to be watching for The Dark Knight this year. And while I liked the movie, I hope it doesn't take best picture.
lol, it didn't get nominated for best picture. not even close.
i saw at least 10 better films this year then TDK.
Oops. Yeah, I thought the fact that it got nominated for 8 different categories qualified it as a runner for best picture. Even though that doesn't even make sense. Whatever. m(-.-)m

The Dark Knight was good, but it was way too over-hyped and certainly not the best picture of the year. |:

Lol.
I know, right? Are you serious?
Though I'm happy Yokko Kanno won for best composer. Macross Fronteir's soundtrack was orgasmic.

Most of these choices are so hilariously bad it makes me want to smile. It just goes to show that no matter what country you're in or what medium is being judged, the awards will almost always favor what is popular over what is good.
Actually, in recent years, the oscars have mostly featured limited release films, and you never see popular blockbusters there, thank heavens. Part of the reason the oscars have had declining popularity is that the films most people see never get nominated.
True facts there, the only reason I ever watched the Oscars was because Jon Stewart was hosting, these days I don't know who or what half the nominees are.
Yeah, most people are like that these days. The days when the big movies that everyone sees win oscars are over. (besides LOTR)
For me though, the oscar stuff is pretty much the only kinds of movies i watch, so i enjoy them.

Best Foreign Movie: Kung-fu Panda
... I don't know how, but this is the only thing that caught my attention...
Caught my eye too.
Good job to Kanno Yoko and Fukuyama Jun. (Y).

^ This. DMC has been engraved into anime history as legendary.

On topic though, as much as I personally love Code Geass, R2 got messy, really messy, right up until the end when it somehow managed to fix itself and I honestly don't see how it won for best scenario writing. Animation, yes, Jun, yes, but scenario writing...eh. Can't speak personally for the others, but just my thoughts on that.
