Director and creator of Macross franchise, Shoji Kawamori, said recently in the interview that previously announced Macross Frontier the Movie won't be by any means a completely new work. Instead, it will follow the original story with some improvements and changes to the story and setting. Some character development will have to be adjusted for example. He later adds that there still will be lots of content in the movie that didn't make it into TV version though.

Does that mean, this time round (for the movie), Sheryl "will" die? ;_;
But then again, the show was bound to heavy love triangle, if Sheryl dies, that bond breaks... (Sheryl probably wont die :D).

I'd still watch it, though Rebuild of Evangelion remake is more worth the while for me, even if it is fast paced lol

I picked up some interesting remarks of Director Kawamori.

Whaaat? Who's supposed to die? Elaborate that? Please? :(:(:( And the ending of the movie is different now? I'm confused.

Oh, sorry, It's about Sheryl. She was supposed to die in the final episode but the script was changed.
According to the director's comment, the ending of the movie will be different from that of the TV series.

The reasons most shippers are whining is because it was such a focus of the show, honestly I would've been fine with the ending if the romantic stuff which amounted to nothing in the end was toned down massively. In exchange they could've developed the side characters and plot better as well as include some more action scenes.

Or do you prefer it the way they did it as opposed to how I would have liked it?

LOL, look at all you shippers crying about the ending.

I for one can't for another dose of Action, Giant Robots, Aliens and cheesy J-pop all in nice animation!

Macross Frontier Movie Will Be Divided Into More Than One Part?

According to Animage magazine, Director Kawamori said "We may not be able to put the story into one movie. Please wait for the further info to be released next year."

I'm really confused what the aim of this movie is supposed to be. I understand that with Evangelion they would remake the anime into movies because the anime was released such a long time ago. But Macross Frontier was just released this past Spring. Why rehash it so quickly?

Because it's a tradition of Macross series: Macross first, Macross 7, Macross Plus. In the same article,
Director Kawamori said:

The ending of the movie will be different from the TV series. It's a parallel world of Macross Frontier.

Hopefully the full image of the above scan is an indication of where the movie will go, with Sheryl being in Alto's vf and Ranka in Breras.

Me... I probably won't even watch it if its a remake...
I refuse to support company milkings =___="
If there's so new songs on the other hand though it might motivate me a bit more.

I'd watch it just for the music.

Remaking a failure is cool.

I'd still watch it anyways, even if it is a rehash of the series. More eye-orgasmic Itano Circus is something I wouldn't mind.

Ugh, I wasn't planning on watching it anyway but this just confirms it for me.
