13 year old to play heroine role in Death Note spin-off

13 year old Mayuko Fukuda will play the role in the spin-off of Death Note, tentatively titled L. She will play opposite L as a mysterious genius girl; basically a 'L' like character.

The movie is set to open in Japan, Hong Kong, Korea, and Taiwan on February 9, 2008.

As far as I can tell, they seem to be keeping the plot a secret but from all that I gather, they want to emphasize that this is not Death Note. This is a story about L and his eccentricities as a master of brain games and a bit of a recluse. They want to focus on the idea of the suspense action genre while giving a sort of insiders view of L that the other movies didn't quite reach. This should be able to be seen without previously seeing Death Note. If I can find out more, I will. All for the love of Death Note.^_-
