actually in NYC barely anyone likes or even reads/watches OP. If anyone has ever tried anime/manga, its always bleach and naruto- pirates sound "lame". All my friends who are actually avid readers/watchers HATE OP, and LOVE bleach and/or naruto. I mean, some of them do like One Piece- but no one loves it and more usual then not, people here usually hate it or dont give it a chance. Yes im from NYC- and seeing OP on a top 10 list in Japan is every day life and nothing to be surprised about, but seeing it on a NY top 10 list? miracle. i honestly do wish OP would become more popular here, in my current school, i only know like 2 people other then myself who like/read/watch OP :( and atm my school has 600+ students. In middle school out of maybe 300/400 students in that grade, maybe 5 other then myself liked/read/watched the series. there were tens of people that read/watched/liked naruto and bleach- you know, the most popular amongst all series in middle school was Death Note actually... even people who didnt usually read/watch manga/anime liked Death Note... and lots of girls also liked fruit basket... honestly, in NYC very few notable manga's and anime are known- its so sad :(

I guess that means you've met every single American and had long conversations with them about their taste in manga.
Also, this is the 2 Year Time Skip volume. I'm pretty sure that was able to spark everyone's interest in the series again.

Uh... I think the reason why people didn't like it in America is due to it's artwork, and, Naruto is sterotyped Ninja -> Japanese culture

just because it's selling well in america doesn't mean jackshit now, it was not popular in japan and it won't get an anime adaption for a long time if ever now, sadly

I would REWRITE the whole story if I adapt it, oh, also get a new cast at it too

Its really funny how much the manga best sellers list vary in japan/ny lol.
Glad Xxxholic made the top that week but I'm really glad at how psyren is doing... hope it doesn't get dropped and hell yeah for an anime if it will ever happen *fingers crossed*

It is strange how one piece not being on the top and bleach is no where to be seen on the list too...
