People hadn't seen it yet by the time. It got plenty of praise from those who saw it. It also won the Newtype anime award a bit later

I'm not certain but it's no surprise. Sayonara got raving reception and reviews in Japan whereas Redline was a huge flop.

Having seen both this is most deserved end result as Sayonara no Tsubasa is a better film and just as overpowering competitor as Disappearance was last year

I'm especially proud of Puella Magi winning that one! Let's see if it can grab the other anime award in october... Seems tough because IMO Ano Hana, Mawaru Penguin-drum and Usagi Drop pose a serious threat as they have also accliamed universal praise :<

Madoka is good, a contender for anime of the year, but steins;gate should win it unless something better comes out in fall. Im not joining on the hype train, as Im actually watching both at the same time, but madoka really is overrated by quite a lot of people. 8.5/10 yes, but not 10/10 by no means. As for completed animes, it is the best and therefore deserves the award

HanaIro is just a regular slice of life. It's quite a decent show, but it's not extraordinary, breathtaking or "glued to your screen" type of show.
Many people question why the award was given to Okada Mari.
Fractale was a general disaster and HanaIro was originally developping into something special, but kind of went the generic slice of life route.

There was no competition for the TV feature award. Nothing else came remotely close.

Ano Hana was really good... until the last episode where everyone crying felt so forced... Everyone mopping at the same time did not have the intended effect of making me sad... It was all too melodramatic at the end too...

Now, the episode just before, the one with the rocket was well paced, timed and emotionally moving.

Wow.Madoka won a award for best TV feature award.It totally deserve it cause of its mind blowing idea and decontruction of magical girl anime genre.So yeah it really did something different than any of this year anime ever did.
