The isle of Neon, located near Japan, is the only place where prostitution and gambling are legal. There, Italian Mafia, Chinese Triad and Yakuza fight each other to gain the control of casinos and brothels.
This manga is a joke , a black joke . You see what i did there ?
Nothing really makes that much sense in this manga about mafia and organizations but the art style is gruesome and stylish and the characters are funny and they can pretty much be summarized in one word , like Kodama for example the perfect word for him is stupid . If you are looking for something stupid and funny to read this is a good choice .
Like, seriously, this is not only bad, it's one of the worst mangas in any genre I've read. I love gritty mangas and I don't mind graphical violence — as long as there actually is plot behind it. This one does not have anything like that, it's page after page with completely brainless unreflective violence and lame characters designed to appeal to 10-15 year old kids who believe they are reading a manga meant for much older people. I really tried to find anything meaningful, thought provoking, or even some kind of irony, humour or sarcasm. Nothing! In a way that makes it a much
more disturbing manga than any of the infamously violent mangas with plot — that's not a good thing.
This is my first review so forgive me for my bad English as it is not my first language.
Now then to start off black joke is .... well a joke ok look to summarize it's a story about mafia, gangs, and well f*ck all. Anyways I have split this review into multiple categories then I will give the overall score.
The art is awesome it does it's job of being exactly what it needs to be and that's over the top.
So why a 2 and not a 0 that's because while it lacks any existence of a solid story(any story?) it does have some
rather entertaining episodic stories which are usually fully of crazy bullish*t that are hilarious combine it character back stories which makes f*ck all sense you get some decent comedy so Ya i give it a 2.
Ok so this is a bit high and you might wonder why; one word "kodama" this mofo is an awesome character and the lolita assassin who is in love with kodama that makes the manga a bit worth the read.
Ok look if you go in reading this manga going all why is the wheelchair man able to fly around or how can kodama break a wall you wont enjoy it so turn off your brain and you just might enjoy this.
Well this review is as bad as the manga so if you read this review I bet you can read the manga too so go read it for a bit you wont lost anything.
Ps: average score for manga (at least for me) is a 5 so this mange is above average.
Despite the only other reviews being negative and calling it mediocre, i quite enjoyed it. The art is solid but nothing to write home about, and the story is nonexistent. But this mangas greatest strength is a actually legitimately mature tone. Most manga with this level of violence take themselves too seriously and go into edgy territory. It is actually quite hard to explain the tone, but its genuinely funny, a bit of a black joke if you will.
The characters act genuinely human and are quite likable and unique. Even stereotypes like the big dumb brute on the cover actually has a fuckton of
personality to him that isint derivative. The situations and fight scenes are also full of creativity and give it a lot of flavor.
To sum it up, if your looking for an interesting story, you have come to the wrong place. If your looking for genuinely likable characters and a fun yet mature mood and setting, then this is as good as it gets in my opinion.
