This was an INCREDIBLE manga.

I started reading this to procrastinate homework about...oh, less than twenty four hours ago. And when I first started, I was not overly impressed. The art was a bit rough, kind of confusing, and in some ways just poorly/sloppily executed. But for whatever reason, I committed myself.

And then it just got better and better! Characters that seemed so hollow at first, so poorly developed, began to gain in momentum. Her comical reactions to constructive criticism went from laughably unrealistic to just flat out admirable. It was absurdly inspiring to me!

I thoroughly enjoyed this manga. Although at times I was afraid it would turn into a reverse harem-esc manga, it did not disappoint me in the end. I actually found this through Special A (since it is the same author), and was happily surprised to see such a cute change in the author's style. Other than the style, the story was quite entertaining and made me smile a lot. The characters are very colorful too, each are very easy to distinguish. My only complaint was the slow pace of the romance.

It is my first time writing a review but i enjoyed this manga so much that i decided to go for it
Well i actually stumbles across seiyuu kaa while searching for minami maki's other work. I was already a great fan due to Special A who is already a great favourite of mine.

The story was great. There was some place where it was clicheed but it was quite different too. It was light and really enjoyable. There was time when i was going all kyaa and there was time when i was banging my head in frustration or hiding my face with embarrassment

Seiyuu Ka! is a fun romantic comedy that has a little something not many shoujo's out there have. It's not a masterpiece by any means but I genuinely enjoyed the experience and found this series hard to put down after the first couple of chapters.

One of the major strengths of Seiyuu ka! is the protagonist, Kino Hime. After an incident where she met a voice actor for the popular "Magic Fighter Lovely Blazers" series as a child, Hime aspires to become a voice actor for the same series, and enrolls in a high school that has a department specializing in voice acting. But nothing's ... easy as we find out that Hime's voice is more suited to voicing old men than magical girls.

The great thing about Hime, though, is that she doesn't give up. Her hardworking and happy personality made going on this journey with her to achieve her dream all that more enjoyable, and I really found myself loving her character.

Unfortunately, character is also one of the flaws in Seiyuu ka!

Outside of Hime, not too many of the characters get their chance to be developed and explored, and as a result can feel just as 2-D as they look. When characters do get their time in the light, or their back stories explained, consistency seems to be lost as the issues they faced don't often get mentioned again, and can seem like they've simply floated off until an offhanded statement by a character appears to remind you of what happened 10 chapters ago.

The story in Seiyuu ka is also weak, and at times it feels like the manga could have delved deeper. Considering Seiyuu ka is about voice actors, it would have been nice to have seen more on the technical aspects and process of getting a job as a voice actor. Lose of focus and fast pacing can also be an issue.

An example of this is when Hime is working secretly outside of school and improving on her voice acting, and the school she goes to and the people there seem to fade into the background. The friends she has, and her previous struggles at school seem to simply disappear, and you're left wondering if she's still attending her classes or just skipping without much to confirm what's going on. At times you she her back on campus, tired and with her friends slightly worried about her, but the toll of living this sort of double life isn't really explored much, as well as how much she and her friends care for each other.

Certain important reveals also didn't received the buildup they should have, and take a moment to be processed. I found myself completely forgetting that Kudou Senri's mother was the same Sakura Aoyama that Hime admires so much until she was brought up again much later. Shuuma Kawai, who is supposedly glued to Mizuki Haruyama's side, also seems to disappear for a large part of the story, even though Mizuki is seen interacting with Hime and it was earlier made obvious that he dislikes Hime and doesn't want her near Mizuki. The use of certain cliches, such as cross dressing and character archetypes can also be annoying, but are used pretty well.

Being a romantic comedy, however, some of these flaws actually work to Seiyuu ka's advantage. It's fun, fast, and sloppy, but, if Seiyuu ka is has one thing, it's a charm that leaves you wanting more.

My friend recommended me this manga, and when i started reading the first 10 chapters or so i got hooked right into it! I just love manga that have a realistic and inspiring storyline like Seiyuu-ka!. Since such good storyline is hard to find and to read. The characters are enjoyable and full of emotions making each one unique!

The artwork is creative and express the characters well. Especially when it illustrate Hime's smile. This manga wouldn't let me stop reading. Every time i finnish one chapter it makes me want to read more even though i read a lot already.

So the manga Seiyuu-Ka! starts off with our main character, Kino Hime and her obsessive dream to become a world-class Seiyuu after a run in with her idol (Aoyama Sakura) as a small child. Her only problem is, she's utterly hopeless at any attempt of voice acting.
She then enrolled in Hiiragi Academy which is where we meet the main male of the story, Kudo Senri; the antisocial tsundere. There are also the two already-successful upperclassmen idols, Hime's mysteriously-driven manager, and the random people she meets along the way.

Seiyuu ka! was a really fun read. It's a shoujo manga whose main focus isn't romance, so if you like your romance and dokidoki moments perhaps this isn't the series for you.

The show revolves around main characters Hime and Senri (mostly Hime), and Hime's path to becoming a seiyuu despite her bad voice acting. I grew to like these two characters very much, and they never acted in a way that annoyed me, so I had a lot of fun watching them. The romance between the two of them isn't focused much on at all, so if you want a satisfying dokidoki romance you might ... not get it.

However, the relationship between the two main characters is really the highlight of the series for me. Their friendship which hints at something more is really cute to watch. Hime's path to fulfilling her dream and how she and Senri interact with each other - friends but not really friends - is enjoyable to watch.

You get Hime every chapter, but Senri only in small doses that increase as the series progresses. That doesn't mean the earlier chapters are boring though, if you enjoy watching Hime and her struggles for her dream. In fact, getting more and more Senri as the series progresses went well for me, as their relationship grew better over time in a way that didn't seem forced.

I think one thing the series could have done better was the side characters. The side characters aren't bad, but could be utilized better. They get focus now and then, and there's some sort of backstory for half of the side characters, but after that it never gets mentioned again. It feels pointless to add depth to the characters but ignore the characters later on. I think some of this could be omitted since it wouldn't even affect the story in the least. The good thing is that the backstories don't get that much focus as well, so it's over quickly and feels like just a short story to me, and aren't unbearable to read.

Lastly, the "love rival". I hesitate to call him that as it never really felt that way to me. He never competed with the other guy for her love. It just felt like he was a good senpai that happened to love the main character (and everyone reading knows this love will not bear fruit). I think there was more time spent on his love for the MC compared to the real male protagonist's love for the MC. He was however not a useless character, as he played a huge part in helping the MC become what she was. For that I think he was a decent character, even if his past wasn't really important to the story in the least.

So, should you read Seiyuu ka!? I think that depends on whether you're hoping for moments like the main guy saving the main female/pushing her against the wall and confessing, or you simply want to read about characters you can cheer for as they go about trying to achieve their dreams, making impactful relationships along the way. My advice is to just give it a few chapters and decide if Hime is worth your time. The setting of this story is pretty fun since it's not the usual high school life.
Word of warning: the ending might feel rushed/unsatisfactory.

Overall I rate it 7/10 because it could have been better (mainly the side characters and rushed ending), but enjoyment wise I feel it's at least a 8 since it fun and feels like there's an actual plot rather than 100 chapters of getting the guy to like the girl.

I personally liked this manga, it was like meant for me.

Although I was a little dissatisfied with the ending, the story in itself was really great and enjoyable, it might be a little cliched but there's nothing wrong with that, what's more important is that each chapter ended in a way that makes the reader want to keep reading, never have I ever wanted to drop this manga.

The characters were well developed, although I would have liked some more development on some characters or, like, more appearances of those characters. I personally think that the main character, Hime, may be a little dumb and stupid ...

I am not really a fan of the gender bender category but I must say this manga was done really well. Although when I was reading for the first time, I did not find it interesting probably because of the lead female character--in my opinion, she was trying too hard--but later as you go along with the lead female character, Kino Hime, I came to love her.

Hime is a heroine with a seemingly impossible goal: become a super star seiyuu (voice actor) even though she has the most "uncute" voice ever, enough to sound like a boy. Or is that her strength? She doesn't know. All she does know is that she has a tough road ahead of her and she's surrounded by much more talented people. But she soon learns that being talented does not a perfect human being make.....along with some pretty other valuable life lessons....

Now THIS is how you write good shoujo manga.

It's fluffy and cute. There is drama...but it's not like "hey, this can be solved if ... we just TALK", no, it is more complicated than that....also, the said drama doesn't revolve around romance all that much either but rather between parents and children, the expectations both put on each other, and the brutal world of show biz.

I feel it's quite refreshing and not so typical.
This is the first shoujo manga I've read that focuses almost entirely on just voice acting (or other things related to the anime industry) and I'm really a sucker for stuff like this. Whether it's been done before or not, I don't know....nor do I really care because it's done pretty well here.
So why the 8? Well, the first few volumes start off a little slow, then it really picks up mid-series, (Senri's backstory is hands-down, the best arc) and had it gone for 13 volumes instead of 12, it could have finished REALLY strongly. But the ending.....I am disappoint. It feels rushed...like Minami was forced to hurry up and close it off with a time skip. I am NEVER a fan of that....dammit, I wanted to see what happened in between!

The art is....a bit off sometimes. Minami definitely needs to work on her proportions because sometimes heads look WAY too tiny and the limbs can look too long. Think XXXholic anime but not NEARLY as bad. XD While it's a little distracting, the most important stuff (to me anyway) is how the faces and expressions are drawn and yes, THOSE are good. The girls? They're cute. The boys? They are [i]H-O-T[/i] ♥ Though sometimes Senri and Mizuki look very similar so that can get a little confusing. But a lot of manga-ka have that problem so I can't beat up Minami too much.

Characters: 10

This is the most important thing for me to get attached to manga and Minami totally delivers. Their development is [i]wonderful.[/i] I was always rooting for Hime and squealing over Senri. I was always sympathizing with Hime and with Senri (dear God, SENRI THO ♥) And I was always being angry with their SHITTY MOTHERS....WHO MAKE ME SO ANGRY.....AJF;LDJF;LJF;LDJF;LADJF.
Yeah, both of their mothers are horrible. I won't go into it much because SPOILERS. Hime's mom pissed me off the most. She really treats her daughter like crap and the infuriating part is Hime never talks back to her or tells her she's wrong for saying such awful things. A mother is supposed to love her child UNCONDITIONALLY no matter what. This bitch follows no such rule and Hime never even did ANYTHING that awful to deserve such abuse in the first place! Fortunately she doesn't get much "page time" (like screentime, get it? haha) so I didn't spend the whole manga being angry at her.

Other characters (aside from Mizuki, whom I personally didn't like and Yamada whom I did) kinda get shoved aside to background ones once the plot tying Hime, Senri, and Sakura together thickens....but this feels pretty natural for the story. Others may find it odd....but it was necessary. And they do get their own backstories and develop a little bit too before Minami gets them out of the way.

Enjoyment: 9

Not a complete 10 because the ending did disappoint me a bit. But I would immediately read this again. I squealed and exclaimed a lot. It made me happy, it made me sad, it pissed me off, it excited me, it touched me; it did pretty much everything a good fictional work is supposed to do and I absolutely recommend it as a "good fictional work".

I start reading this manga after searching through Minami Maki sensei's work, and i found that many people said this manga was her best job, so i tried it. So here is my review...

For me the plot is pretty good because i have never read any shoujo manga that talks about being a seiyuu. So it is a quite interesting plot at first. But, for me, the problem here is the feeling that i got when reading this manga and when i finished it. Overall, i liked it especially nearing the end. The last chapter o///o! The first half i was like 'meh' because it seemed as if the characters and plot weren't very developed and the characters appear randomly. Kudou was just off and didn't appear enough. But like Hime/Shiro's acting, the manga improved. I would have liked if the ending showed Kazuma and Kudou meet and I was hoping a display of Ume ending up with Takayanagi but oh well ending is awesome!

Well, after finishing the manga. I must say the ending sucked. I was really hoping for a splended ending. Like, I kept up the with manga ever since it came out. I actually loved the plot and I love love love the art! It was so unique. At least Hime went with the person I wanted her to be with. I enjoyed every chapter until the end. But, I give this manga a "so-so" after reading the ending.
