It streamed early today on Abema.

It's one of those game world and protagonist taking on a new role after one day. It does have a serious vibe to it from the first episode. Ruphas is the main character here but she has her limits. It'll be curious to see how her life shapes the world from the present. Dina is also introduced in the first episode too although I find it kinda hard to take her seriously at times. Pretty much the setup episode for now. Exgate Online sounds like such a strange name for a game though.

ABEMA / U-NEXT Early Streaming.

It took nearly a decade, but novelist Firehead's completed series is finally out in anime form, and despite being an Isekai series, the dark fantasy genre is NOW truly getting its Renaissance moment of resurgence (as is with Clevatess last season).

The life of the Last Boss Conqueror Lufas Maphaahl being taken down by heroes and absorbed into subspace, played by a real-life player, and with the Goddess of All Creation, Alovenus, inviting him back to the RPG game Exgate Online for a re-do, he somehow finds himself playing as the summoned and resurrected titular MC, but 200 years since the creation of the in-game setting. With the Devil King Orm still alive, Lufas finds herself not part of the hero game plot, but a normal girl who wants to experience the game as it is.

Obviously, the player playing Lufas certainly did the game justice by doing everything he and the other players wanted, though being the semi-official character herself, there's still much to explore around. And the first NPC to be received her welcome, her loyal advisor Dina, who gives her a rundown of what happened with the 200 years since then, with some of the Seven Heroes and the Twelve Heavenly Stars companion monster NPCs still surviving, and gathering the latter group is her first objective. However, Dina's annoyance that Lufas is simply too famously well-recognized, the latter has no choice but to start from scratch as an adventurer and doing the usual quests, like exterminating orcs causing trouble to a poor village. And with the player and his NPC being of one mind, killing the orcs is easy-peasy with her aligned game mechanic powers that are simply OP as heck.

DAMN, this is starting off strong and is how I like it. Hope to see more from this surprisingly good premiere.

Animations on point. Got a good set up like Overlord had. Interesting world building with the faction wars. Might shape up to be pretty good.

Strong start and hyped to see where this goes!

(Although it's a well played story in other shows), I like the "Oh, you're approaching me?" vibe to the main character so far, and it's a welcome break from the previous two seasons that were very full of MCs that didn't realise they were so much stronger than everyone else.

Giving Overlord vibes, but I also like the dynamic with the MC being a woman, the humour of the advisor character, and also the injections of "memories" from their in-game life.

The first episode reminds me a lot of Leadale no Daichi nite, if you have watch Leadale you know what I'm talking about.

The first three minutes have top-notch animation, the rest of the episode is also pretty good even if it's not on the same level as its first three minutes.

What I hate is how the main character's gender get changed without their consent, but to be fair he's highly adapt to the situation to the point that he seems happy about being Lufas. Though there are already several hints that Lufas's original soul might also be in that body, which mean this is not exactly a reincarnation but more of a "take a complete control of your character" situation.

I hope the era in this new world is a peaceful one, I'd still feel bad if war breaks out and a lot of people died even if this world is closer to the existing video game than actual new world. I'm wondering if "revive" system exist (not the same kind of hero summoning ritual) but that would be too soon to ask.

I haven't watched an isekai that's not a popular sequel for a while, but it's crazy how much a good adaptation elevates something this generic

This show is showing promise, I do like a story where OP evil boss is trying to act righteous.

I love it even more now that I checked VA and learned that she voiced Karen from Code Geass.

Will follow this show with interest, hopefully it will not disappoint.

So many weird choices in the animation direction in this first ep, almost all shots of the MC were ultra zoomed in with half of their body cutoff i imagine the wings are a pain jn the ass to animate or something. Only blue hair girl got full body motion shots outside of fights. Additionally there were some spots where the mcs face looked completely deformed. I'm hoping this shitty animation is to save budget for some insane fight scenes but we'll have to see 🤔.

Pretty good for a first episode. Hopefully they didn't blow it all on the intro fight scene. The short animation of the bear guy attacking her was pretty different. The smaller orcs at the end looked pretty bad, though they did an okay job at hiding them in some of the shot.

You can tell who are the main characters not because they stand out but because they have really sharp chins. Lol. No one else has sharp chin character designs but them. On a more serious note, the character designs do look pretty good so far. I do prefer the manga designs more than the light novel's and it does feel like it's more inline with the manga's.

Was gonna check this out but a guy gets reincarnated as the female protag? Gender swap then?

Both are different things. But I avoid both. If you are talking about summer hikaru died then that's one of the exception since its mostly bait like yuribaits.

@TornadoZW I think the animation for this one is pretty good for the standard seasonals. It's not ground breaking or anything but surely it's better than shit like TBATE. Plus, I think i'm willing to give this one a little more leeway because it's been 3 years since they've done anything at all by themselves and 5 years since this studio worked on a full season. For a studio that's otherwise basically otherwise a subcontract/outsource studio, I give them a pass for what we've seen so far.

Though i'm not sure if that says more about how shitty studios like A-Cat are or if it says that this studio is passably competent.

@MegamiRem You avoid both but your signature is a series with gays/incest/loli and your listed favorite characters include gays? Your criteria seems completely arbitrary and has nothing to do with what you've said is the problem. lol

And how does what I like or not concern you exactly? why do you care what I like/dislike or avoid? Then again you don't even know what you are talking about. Hyakkano is a not a gay anime the main theme is harem romcom. It's like saying cyberpunk is a gay game cause it has gay couple. How does hyakkano having loli or incest have anything to do with what I said? Also not a single one of my favourited characters is gay, not that it matters.

And lastly my initial comment was about this having gender swap. Which again has nothing to do with any of the things you and the other guy have said.

Another "I'm trapped in a videogame" garbage. Wished MAL would stop mixing isekai and Videogame shit together. At least even some of the isekai slop can be funny or mildly entertaining. That's an instant drop.

Not a bad start for a series at all.

Nothing groundbreaking in terms of premise or setting but the writing was solid enough, and the production values were pretty decent for the genre: intricate character designs, actual use of color and shadow so it doesn't look like a matte painting, and the music, sound design, and VA were all good additions.

The only thing I had to laugh at was the moment when an explosion of green orc blood turned into a red shower in front of the shocked giant orc's eyes for a moment. I guess some animator didn't get the memo that red blood is being saved for the BD release.

God what is this absurd obession that forces these people to turn everything into an isekai-ish story.
The anime looks and sounds great, the character design is nice. But why oh why can't it just be a fantasy story of a hero summoning gone wrong and accidentally bringing back who the previous generation of heroes struggled to seal away. Then have her be that badass conqueror (or have a change of heart and save the world, whatever) without some stupid inner voice commenting on everything from a modern person's point of view.
Rarely any story has ever been improved by inserting some modern high schooler into these situations.

There's a plot point why it was necessary, same for the gender bending.
But I won't go further because it's spoiler territory.

Uh huh 🥚

Solid start, very interested to see where they go with this. Also laughing at all the people bitching about it being a gender-swap isekai. Like you can just not watch it you absolute weirdos, it's directly in the summary what this is going to be.

Really good start. The animation is pretty top tier in this episode.Ruphas is one of the strongest characters in Japanese fiction and this anime really brought out that feel.

I really love OP characters. The background setting is also pretty well detailed. This anime reminds me of Overlord.I hope the anime maintains this quality.

Typical transmigration prologue, though I do love the gender-bender aspect. These kinds of anime are so rare nowadays that you can hardly find any, so it’s nice to finally get one after so long. That said, I’m not sure how I feel about the heroine constantly referring to herself as “we”. A bit weird, but meh.

This was a great premiere. Lufas has quickly shown that they're worthy of the last boss title. Those orcs had no idea what they were up against, and since she was so fast that they were in slow motion, that was literally the case!

It's very nice of his background NPC Dina to tag along and give them a goal!

story isn't anything new we've seen before but with the right animation, I'm definitely gonna be gripped af.

So far so good, the anime is following closely to the manga.

Although in the manga the "self - thoughts" parts sounded a lot more funnier than how it was presented in the anime.

@AllGamer agreed... the tsukkomi are weaker in the anime...

Ah... Dina... Dina... now I remember the stories...

@CheliosX IDK who that is or how OP he is, but I agree that Lufasu is one the strongest isekai MC out there... (at least if we only consider combat-wise, and at least in her peak-self)
