| Somehow social media seems to be full of people who find that drinking milk as an adult is creepy. Do you agree with such a stupid stance? They can call me weird, childish, or even creepy for drinking my big glass of milk every morning, but I’ll call them weak. Milk is for the strong, the chosen beverage of the unashamed and unbothered. If anyone actually gives up drinking milk just to avoid being judged, then they fully deserve to end up with brittle bones that slowly crumble with age. So which team are you on, team strong or team weak? |

| Absolutely not. Calcium deficiency and bone density issues get more serious when you age. Don't know why adults drinking milk gets such a bad wrap (maybe it's because of A Clockwork Orange?). Drink that shit. |

| Lol, what kind of social media are you consuming? I've never heard of this. Even if people were to think it's "creepy", I'd say fuck them and do what I want. And I drink milk when I want. I usually add protein powder and protein peanut butter powder. But a plain glass every now and then is nice, too. |

| If you are seeing such posts on your social media I'm sure you must have also seen posts about why people are saying it. Cows aren't milk making machines that naturally give milk throughout their lives, they need to be raped and impregnated and their calf is taken away from them so humans can have their milk. If the calf is male then it's killed for veal if it's female it will be allowed to grow up and repeat the same cycle of being repeatedly impregnated just like it's mother until it can no longer produce milk and will be sent for slaughter. This is the reason people are trying to push for plant based milk instead of dairy and since people don't have much empathy for farm animals those that do are coming up with other reasons to reach the same goal. So according to you abusing animal for it's entire life is strong and those that don't are weak? You most definitely are unashamed to say that. |

Maou_heika said: Twisting my words a little bit, aren't you? You know, I was raised in the countryside and spent a lot of time on my father's side dairy farm (pretty much all dairy farms in Quebec are family-owned and on the smaller side). There was a specific enclosure to keep them together (for how long, that I don't remember). Heck, my aunt knew all their names by heart and even played relaxing music throughout the barn. In the summertime, they were all free to roam outside in a small meadow (which was obviously impossible to do in winter if you know anything about Quebec). So according to you abusing animal for it's entire life is strong and those that don't are weak? You most definitely are unashamed to say that. They obviously lived animal farm lives, but they weren’t as miserable as you're trying to claim, and no one wanted them to suffer. And since all dairy products produced in Quebec come from milk produced by local farms, I don’t see why I should feel ashamed in any way. We don’t have massive Americanized dairy farms around here where cows don’t even receive proper medical care. Calling all dairy farmers animal abusers isn’t going to change most people mind, and it’s certainly not going to make them switch to plant-based milk loaded with industrial sugars. |

You can of course consume unhealthy variants of plant based milk just like you can purchase unhealthy variants of cow milk. Often it is the plant based milk that has a better nutrition profile. The plant based version is soy milk from the brand Silk. The plant based version has less saturated fat, basically no sugar while the milk brand has a notable amount, the plant based version also has more protein per calorie, less sodium, less calories, and is fortified to have the same amount of calcium and vitamin D. Just be a conscious consumer either way and you'll do fine. fleurbleue said: They obviously lived animal farm lives, but they weren’t as miserable as you're trying to claim, and no one wanted them to suffer. | @fleurbleue Well if they aren't separated then that's good for you I see no harm in drinking milk if the cows don't suffer but what do you do with the male calves? I doubt keeping them alive would be sustainable or profitable for the farmers. It's your fault too because of the way you worded your op. There is a reason why people are making the statement which you never clarified and simply went onto classifying others strong or weak. Not to mention factory farms are common all over the world because they are more profitable. Edit: I did a quick google search and found this from Quebec, doesn't look like all farms follow the practices you describe |

So even if you remove empathy out of the equation, not giving your cows any access to the outdoors literally make you lose money. I also obviously haven't set foot in all dairy farms in my province, but seeing dairy cows out in pastures was a common sight all over the region where I grew up.Edit: I did a quick google search and found this from Quebec, doesn't look like all farms follow the practices you describe |

| It's not weird and you shouldn't mind what anyone else thinks. If you want to drink milk, go drink milk. If you don't, then don't. If you prefer some alternative product, then go ahead and drink that one instead. I still have the gift to be able to drink normal cow milk, but I'm usually not interested because it doesn't taste anything addictively enough. We use milk more as an ingredient for food stuff. Perphaps, I would be more eager to drink a glass of milk if it would be fresh raw milk, but pasteurization kills the taste |

| @Freshell There actually are people who would argue that processing does in fact matter... I mean we are specifically talking about ultra processed junk, that's more chemistry than cooking. Especially in this case you have to wonder what they need to do to make plants that look nothing like milk look like milk. Also being fortified by vitamins should be a red flag, that sort of means the ingredients are nutritionally void, but they try to spin it to sound healthier than it is. Candies have a lot of those fortifications, but they really are just sugar with a face lift. The big business in plant based milk is really just that plants are cheaper than cows, but they can be sold for the same price in the grocery store. |
