Ars and his mind attempts another daring mission. Gotta admit though, he's got a lot of heart for trying to save his friends.

Quite a tense episode with the troops moving out while Ars faces off against opposition.

Even though the plan try to minimize deaths as many as possible, there are still too many deaths, even Ars notice that. I know that in real life there's no such thing as zero casualty war but isn't it the reason fiction exist in the first place? To create what impossible in real life.

Any way, I'm glad no significant characters died, even from the enemy side. But it seems like Lupas, Jean, and Dan won't ever return again as Ars move forward to the next battle, which is kinda sad since I'm now attached to them. On the bright side, I highly expect the mercenary captain Clamant to join Ars party.

I'm still mad that this whole conflict is originated from brothers fight, why can't they just keep it in their family, why do they've to drag everyone into this chaos, can't we just lock them up in the same room until one of them give up!

I'm not really enjoying this show anymore.... season 1 was decent but the writing has really dropped off in my opinion. It also feels like you constantly have to suspend disbelief. For example when Reitz slashed that calvary guy across his breast plate they shows a deep cut in the metal and he was taken out of action... terribly unrealistic as his sword would have bounced right off with that kind of armor and at most it would have had a good dent and knocked the guy over.. And you expect me to believe the enemy commander decided to lose over some soup?? WTF. All character development has gone out the window and the plot is pretty boring.

Finally they won the battle and I hope there will be no more wars for a long time!

Muses Rietz and Ars share such a beautiful moment together, Muses trying to help Ars writing those letters to the loved Ars’s people was great. Ars is lucky to have everyone by his side, if it weren’t for his appraisal skills, he would not have been so strong now!

I’ve lost track of the amount of times this series has made me cry at this point. Beautiful end to the episode, glory to all of the fallen may they never be forgotten. ❤️

The animation left a lot to be desired for the general infantry/calvary fighting scenes, but Rietz v Dan was solid. I found the whole Jean “fight” to be disappointing since he talked all that shit about being more battle hardened than Dan and then we saw how he killed his own dad last ep, bro got knocked out in one blow lmao. But he and Dan’s moment there was nice. Even after he kinda lost his mind, Jean still remembered the little moments he and his buddy had together.

Man I swear I was about to snap if Lupa ended up dying before he could see his wife and newborn child. Ars telling him it was just a flesh wound after the doctor just said he was probably gonna die was killing me tho 😭. Buddy heard his wife and rose like Jesus on Easter Sunday. Glad they get a happy ending

Ars writing letters to the families of the deceased really made me start crying though. Every soldier wants to know they’re not just a statistic or number to be thrown at enemies. Someone like Ars who feels genuine empathy and pain for his men is the greatest sort of general. His father would be proud.

You can always trust Rosell & Mireille to come up with a plan b,c and d.
Rietz gets the victory over Dan and shows respect at the end.
Maitraw company was amazing to watch.
Glad to see Lupa survived nd got the moment with his wife and child.

Wow, what a surprising twist! I thought Lupa had died before he could meet his wife and son. This episode had everything—highs and lows for both sides. It was heartwarming to see Ars caring for and grieving his men. It reinforces what we’ve known all along: Ars is a good man. The entire team is growing closer, and the episodes are becoming better. I hope they don't drop the ball by the end of the season. With only four episodes left, let’s hope they finish strong!

Both the top two enemy combatants were able to move freely!? One freely enough to get a weapon, the other to stop the first from unloving themself? Ars is going to need to take another close look at those that were guarding.

Then one reveals that he essentially gave up the best move for the taste of soup.

@motqalden I agree and animation has followed suit. I'll probably finish this as it is the only show I watch on that day, but I'm so over this hot mess.

I’m not sure whether to call it convenient that all the enemy soldiers, including their generals, fell into Rosell and Mireille’s trap. The episode’s direction felt a bit odd, but the plan to disguise themselves as enemy soldiers to deceive them was clever.

However, the true hero of the episode was Pham, who not only brought Lupa’s wife to safety but also helped her deliver the baby.

Knowing the names of all his soldiers and taking the time to send letters to the families of those who’ve fallen is a gesture very few generals would make. Much respect to Ars for that.

So as of Episode 8 of Season 2, Rietz has yet to be paired with his own girl? I mean, he can still serve under Ars even though he gets married, so I hope the Anime will give him his own pairing...

The battles are getting boring, I usually watch movies while grinding in the game (maplestory). But this movie is making me focus more on the game than the other movies.

Right now, all I care about is the romance in this movie.

Not him being about to die from blood loss but the sight of his wife and baby makes him stand up and have the life given back to him 💀 Sir you were about to die what happened?

"This is definitely a trap" "They will definitely have other troops waiting to ambush us in the forest" *goes anyways because Soup Uncle > winning the war*

Not only did they let 1 enemy general escape and potentially harm others and himself, but somehow the other general escape. On top of that, somehow Winry was fast enough to notice his Uncle Soup trying to kill himself within 2 seconds and intervene. Then war hungry murderer Uncle Soup bonds with Legolas and they live happily ever after. Not gonna lie I thought he was about to confess his love for him.

At least this absolutely non sensical war plan of theirs is over now and hopefully we can go back to more interesting aspects of this show.

For a minute there I thought Lupa was a goner but hearing and seeing his wife abruptly gave him life, nice surprise.

While I thought the episode overall was good I was surprised to see Jean go after his general even though he knew it was a trap and I wish this show had higher production values/budget as the animation was a bit lacking in some scenes.

This anime is such a fairy tail. Arse is exactly what you would want from a ruler. Maximizes peace, minimizes death, empathy for all. I am not good enough in history to know how common it is for rulers/commanders to do this, but I know the trash leadership [in USA] (that is likely cause of death) does this, Ars is genuine and love it. Rietz is amazing, he would have lost if simply singular stat is what mattered since opponent had superior gear, but life isn't that simple. Peoples emotions... humanity... is what is allowing Ars to keep winning. His appraisal ability really made all this possible.

I always want to give a Fam/5, but keep giving 4/5. Fam, please, PLEASE, become real and marry me! Become my husbando! (/wifey?)

@MarjacienTaywen I pair him with Ars once Ars is in adult body (Ars is already adult). Otherwise, he has time after survives the war to find someone). Other girl can be wife in name only.

Body kicked into overdrive when realized his wife and kid were in fact alive (if I was him I would honestly assume they would be dead) and made the blood he needed.

If you only care about one person, and that person was going off to their death, kinda hard to care about anything else.

I think the people in this world are radically more rational (though the war still makes no sense just like real life) than our world. Ars is definitely super trusting, but he SHOULD be using his new appraisal to verify won't be betrayed.

Genuine question: What are the more interesting aspects of the show? (I'm serious, I feel like has been basically the same thing on repeat the entire show)

@LilyVarbik For me the interesting parts were mainly about him using his appraisal skill in interesting ways like gathering an army. Seems like something interesting will happen with his powers soon since it updated last episode with him being able to see other information like marriage status. Maybe something will come of that or else I will be disappointed since the other aspects like war and politics have been surface level depth and nothing interesting and wayyyyy too easy.

You’re not wrong. The show has definitely been going in circles with the same pattern repeating over and over. Ars scouts a new person, tries to recruit them, proves how great and noble he is, and then the person joins his side. Then, Ars finds himself in a battle, surprised when humans act in evil ways during these fights. He usually talks his way out of the bloodshed, and while some people die, he rarely has to make any tough choices. He just keeps going on his merry way.

@motqalden Why the heck would you expect fights to be realisitic? This is anime where shows like Naruto came from. Heck even demon slayer's combat is stupidly unrealistic in a lot of ways and yet somehow people still like it's fights. Now to be fair to demon slayer a lot of aspects of it's combat scenes are also very realistic at the same time, however Tanjiro cut through a boulder, Reitz cut through metal armor...... one is clearly more possible than the other even though neither one isn't realistic at all. Besides unlike demon slayer this show has magic and other fantasy things, there's a form of expectation it's fights wouldn't be very realistic.
I like to watch some anime, I like to talk about some anime, I dislike wars over some anime, but more than anything I love to live my life, anime is an enjoyable and entertaining addition onto my life but it's not my whole life.

@MewsicMagic In demon slayer you believe the boulder was split because you witnessed it. My point here is what was shown in the scene didn't seem to match the results of what happened. Reitz didn't cut through the armor he just dented and or put a large scratch in it. Remember we are also supposed to understand that the enemy was a "super human" in terms of stats, so unless his armor was completely penetrated and a deep wound inflicted, I just don't seem him going down that easy. It kind of seemed like how when you move your chess piece to take another and it "falls over" so to speak.

Pham having to take care of Lupa's pregnant wife, her grit is exactly the same as Lucia lols.

Jean knowing that if they follow the Canarre army, they would be annihilated straight, and too bad for Jean, having Dan and the soldiers goaded by Mireille and the disguised to chase Ars down, it's a blind run where the Maitraw Company can finally do their mercenary jobs to perfection. Dan is left to face Rietz, and while they're evenly matched, Rietz's wit ultimately won the day, and Calmant driving Jean back with just one strike, how insane is this guy?

The disbelief of the brotherhood between Jean and Dan over some soup (of all things) aside, the clear attack on Lupa held out longer than what was surmised, that only death awaits him, before the fact that his wife. with their newborn child in tow with Pham's help, would be like Jesus incarnate to rise him from the dead. It's almost comical to say this believing that it happened like clockwork. But the fact of the matter that while Ars officially won the war, him doing a proper grievance to the fallen soldiers and letters to their families, it's heartbreak to even see the close ones he'd been protected from, lose their lives valiantly.

Ars is good all around, except that the writing for this portion was just levels of stupidity.

Goddamn! I know I've been comparing this to Kingdom but this episode is it!, this is a Kingdom episode no doubt. That wear your enemies' armor and fake charge tactic - Kingdom, duel in the middle of a war - Kingdom, Ars getting acknowledged by his superior for starting to look like a general - that's Shin from fucking Kingdom! lol

Anyway, they really dug a very shallow hole and just dumped all their dead huh and then they just put dirt on top of it so it looks like a hill hahahaha
