This season is pretty chatty..especially with negotiations. Still, Licia made a decent impression with her personality and smooth talking.

Ars seems to making more connections as well. I guess his social skills did improve this season. Licia is by his side a lot this episode so maybe they're also trying to develop their relationship further.

Damn, Licia on that Aizen level of plotting lmao. Am glad to see that Lenge will be more tolerable from now on, now that he isn't an annoying bitch.

But yeah, it's been fun to see all of this, but now it's time to get serious as we go into battle at last.

“Father do I have the face of a warrior now?” Man pure chills at the end of this episode, Kantei skill really knows how to deliver these unexpected emotional episodes and I love it. Ars and everyone gathered in Semplar heading off to battle was just an amazing scene.

The Ars that Raven said was too young to go into battle seems like a lifetime ago, he and all the others have grown so much and it’s time for their first big test together. All the training, all the war games and recruiting, it all comes down to next episode. Hype.

Fairs actually surprised that Rengue grew up so quickly. I knew he would become an important asset to Ars’ faction, but I didn’t think it would happen in one episode. I guess after hearing about that Licia masterclass in negotiation he HAD to get some tips and wisdom from her lol. Plus he now sees “lying” isn’t something that’s bad if done for the right reason.

Licia planning everything including Rengue interrupting her and “ruining” negotiations all from the start is crazy. I need to see her go up against Ayanokouji lol. One of the best female fantasy characters. Awesome episode man I love this show so much.

P.S CASUAL CHARLOTTE?!! We need more outfits from her she looked so good today

I found the episode's soundtrack to be really stylish, especially towards the end.

Guess it's time for Ars to get a taste of REAL combat, but we will have to wait until next episode for that. Lot of deal making & strategy today.

The best character in Eps 3 is still held by Licia, but Ars has now improved his social skills, hopefully the next episode will have an epic battle scene

There is no excuse for Ars Louvent and his party not to win the battle and conquer the Missian Province, Arcantez. Vasmarque should be eliminated and Lord Curran is best suited for his role.

I love the relationship shared between Licia and Ars, they are so cute together.

Mireille must let go of the alcohol until it’s not too late😂

So Rengue kind of redeemed himself by growing and realizing that what Licia did was genius and said necessary "lies" out of care for her and Ars' land and people.

Couran giving Ars props in front of thousands of soldiers for his efforts was a pleasant, but deserved, surprise. While I'm looking forward to Ars' first big battle I'm a bit nervous that one of his trusted retainers may get hurt.

Another episode where Ars doesn't use his power almost at all, and never for anything useful or plot related, and doesn't actually DO anything except follow the real MCs around saying "oooooooh," "you're amazing," and "let's do out best!"

Next episode we get to see the Louvent army in action (at least, so this episode leads us to believe). This is the show's chance to redeem Ars. For more than a season, I've been saying that it's criminal the way we haven't seen Ars use his skill virtually at all, and have not even seen any indication that he's used it in the most obvious way...to optimize his army and province administration (the way he did with the archer in the beginning of season one, and then apparently never again that we can see). Although the show has missed repeated opportunities to show Ars actually taking advantage of his skill as he should, next episode is an opportunity to demonstrate that, even if we haven't seen it in the show, Ars HAS been using his skill as he should be, by revealing that his forces are unusually skilled/elite (because each of them has been trained in the skill/position they are most suited for..the very most basic use of Ars' ability). Alternatively, we'll see that he hasn't, and is just an idiot upon whom his unique skill, decades of extra memories and life experience, and supposed minions with strategic genius are completely wasted.

This was a good episode for Rengue, he grew a lot in those few days with the help of Licia.
Another tough job head for Ars, having to command an army going to war.
I'm looking forward to seeing how everything plays out in the battles ahead.

Wow, Licia is truly a genius. Her negotiation plan went beyond what I expected and anticipated all the setbacks that could happen, resulting in success, even with Rengue’s intervention.

It’s great that Rengue has matured and realized his shortcomings as a future leader. I thought this change would take longer, but seeing how the rest sacrificed their own things for the good of their territory helped him move forward. Licia’s advice also helped him.

Ars’ first battle, and not only that, but he will also be one of the people in charge of commanding in the war. It’s a bit sad that his father won’t be able to see him shine, but he has his companions to support him.

@amf85 Ars' ability could be immensely useful in battle. Assuming he's managed to train it and level it up a bit, he should be able to instantly see which of the enemy soldiers and squadrons are weak and which represent a threat, meaning he could use it to strike at weak points of the front in a way that would seem like magic.

@Love_And_Forward I recall from one of the earlier episodes he has problems using his ability on too many people in quick succession (I believe this was when he found Charlotte by looking at a ton of people in town). If he has trained it/outgrown that problem, I agree with you.

Even if he can't use it against large bodies of people en masse, maybe he could use it on enemy commanders.

@amf85 Actually, you wouldn't need to look at everyone, I think. Assuming you can identify the squadrons, all you'd need would be a statistical sample of each.

Another thing is this... Ars should actually have some idea of his own stats. If he's sparring against a guy, he beats him and that dude, say, has a "50" in swordsmanship, he could confidently say he's at least there.

My gosh Rengue didn't deserve all this hate he's getting. I mean yeah he's an idiot, but his intentions we're to be a good and honest leader for his people. And because of those naive intentions he realized how much of an idiot he was and still is, and so he's trying to improve himself. Honestly an actually decent developing character, really hope they develop him as a character more in this season so he can become a better character. My personal opinion, if Rengue is a bad character for making a stupid blunder then literally every loved "generic" shounen MC ever is a bad character. Looking at you Naruto
I like to watch some anime, I like to talk about some anime, I dislike wars over some anime, but more than anything I love to live my life, anime is an enjoyable and entertaining addition onto my life but it's not my whole life.

Great episode! They were able to demonstrate their fortitude and power in their first battle and win, even when the odds were against them.
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

Well, dropping, they said at the end that apparently Rietz broke, go next.

4/5, Ars happened to get some god-tier people. Rengue learned that lying, FOR your people, could be necessary. I understand the struggle as I'm an honest person, and don't even think otherwise as the chronic liars everywhere disgust me.
War time... War...

Edit: I agree with all comments above as I stated early last season. Ars has huge commander ability since can set up Army with his appraisal, and find strong/weak links in enemy with appraisal. We haven't seen him use this ability in battle really and I've been wanting to see it.

Aside from the near-trouble with Rengue, Lycia did come to a decision knowing Minister Shakma's situation and all, and yet still having the negotiation be a win-win solution, what a smart girl.

Lumiere trying to convince Rengue of what Ars and Lycia were doing for the betterment of Missian, it's definitely out of his wheelhouse when it comes to the difference between power and strategy. The negotiations with Paradille henceforth, thankfully went without a hitch for the province to trust them, and with the rightful course of actions on Rengue's part and Lycia correcting his ways on top of his pure honesty, I'm glad that Rengue course-corrected himself and now is aligned with Ars for the long run. Back to Semplar, Rengue getting a lesson on his venture with Ars and the gang, with Couran reaffirming his stand, he has improved. But as with the war, there's no time to waste cutting down enemy forces while they're ahead, and the Alpharda District culling being Ars's first battle since his father's passing, he has a lot on his hands.

While Rietz defintely has the Ars syndrome awaiting his return, he DID return to the Louvent estate in Canarra for the brief while, and showered with gifts from his people enough to visit his father's grave to share and seek his behalf. And soon, it's time for the new Lord to face his first battle, culling Vasmarque bit by bit, starting with Alpharda. With the high boost of morale thanks to Couran, the war has officially begun.

All the best, Ars, yoi're gonna need it.
