Mudo getting beat around is tough to watch. He's definitely an underdog in this arc/fight.

Interesting that we got some background storytelling about Douren and the younger days he had. Wasn't really expecting it but he really has a lot of heart in his character.

This episode has better visual than usual, it's important episode after all (to be fair, there are many important episodes in this anime).

It has been strongly hinted many times before, but the flashback 100% confirm that Douren is still a virgin, just as I prefered.

I find it a little bit suspicious that when Yazen ask Jinun (or Kouzou or whatever his names) if this boy is really his child, Jinun just dodge the question. I still believe Senya is biologically his child, but I'm just not 100% sure. I'll be happy with any outcome though.

Visually, the episode sure felt like a lot better than the previous ones, the studio must have calculated for that at the expense of the quality of the previous ones.

I remember Douren fighting the tiger a little longer in the manga, I think? But other than that this was one of the best episodes so far.

This episode was as amazing as it possibly could be.

Though this anime is definitely not mainstream and don't have that much resources, with this one it was at least on par.
Most probably even far ahead.

I'm mostly about the character development and the feelings and emotions this episode evoked, though the animation was also hella cool.

Great work.

White fox got us eating back to back on Wednesday, you leave the re zero masterclass and come on over to this one and it’s no less impactful. Jinun and Douren’s battle was powerful both physically and emotionally.

I completely understand Jinun now and even though I don’t agree with his decision to turn Senya into a weapon, it ended up working out for the best because who would be able to compete with Jinka and save the day if Senya didn’t have his abilities. Can’t imagine Jinun’s pain of finding happiness, getting married, having a kid and then having that all taken away from you because of your past and having to go back into your old ways.

His hard ass attitude to Senya which I found cruel at times, was just a way to protect his son and make him stronger to face the threats that may come his way. Def got a newfound appreciation for him and the whole Daisangyu including Douren. Douren was lowkey an amazing friend for their whole relationship. Every hero needs a rival. Was loyal and finally got his win. 👍

Awesome episode. Loved getting their backstories. I wish we could've seen how they got the katawara implanted tho

I came here to see the comments on it and everyone is glossing over it. I'm like "what?"

Honestly, this is such a slept on anime. The character development, the emotion, the backstories, everything is just 10/10.

Definitely, one of my favorites of this year, easily

Yeah, sad to see White Fox not giving this show the love it deserves, but nonetheless, what a great backstory episode.

Was always interested in Jinun a lot, so to finally get his backstory was nice.

@Spirelord Yep. Seeing people saying this ep had great visuals and I'm wondering if I watched the wrong ep or something. This was terrible.
2nd ep they drop the quality. First one was Mudo x Senya, tho in that one the drawing itself was still cool, but they used slideshows as well. This one it was all terrible.

@Penteano I felt like I was going crazy since every comment on Reddit was praising this episode and the first comments here did the same. The visual style was a bit different and looked especially good in the flashback, but I feel like everyone missed the first 5 minutes of this episode that looked absolutely awful. Back in episode 6 when the Shogun died, I thought the animation and art style looked great, but multiple people said it looked like trash. It's interesting how differently people seem to view the episodes of this show and how much the quality varies (and occasionally peaks).
Overall a great episode. The art in the flashback and the ending was fantastic. I just wish I could forget those first few minutes of Mudo vs Banshouou that could rival the animations of Blue Lock S2.

Effectively choked me up several times, this series turned out to be so much more than I expected. Shinsuke's speech about the nature of the curse is real-life wisdom worth meditating on, self-compassion.
