Not going to lie, those fish monsters gave me the creeps.

It's pretty interesting to see Kabru's intimidating side though, perhaps even more scarier than those fish monsters. I think in general, it was curious to see another party on their adventure than the main one we see so often. Rin also seems like one of its more serious members.

They even got dog character aka Kuro in there. Kabru is a character I hope to see more of this season, definitely one of the more interesting characters in the show.

Great, it's time to get back to cooking up nutritious and well-balanced meals from monsters!

The 2nd Cour's OST is here, featuring sumika's OP and Regal Lily's ED, and once again Trigger disappoints, whether that be in visuals or the song itself. However, the ED sounds good.

Laios and his companions opt for a retreat from the dungeon. Meanwhile, in a previous moment in time, Kabru's group, having faced annihilation once more, are fortunate to be revived by the Tansu party. Despite this, they've lost their provisions and are in the midst of withdrawing when they encounter an ambush by mermen in the mist. Kabru experiences a strong sense of deja vu as he observes the actions of the assailant fishfolk.

It looks like the Kabru party chasing Laius and his group and getting defeated might happen again and again. It's interesting to see how different they are from each other. Even without the theft misunderstanding, there was bound to be conflict between them. Kabru and his group think they're morally superior, but their belief feels genuine. That's how self-righteousness works—you twist everything to fit your own ideas. I always knew Kabru was the "holier than thou" type, thinking he can do no wrong.

We finally see what the other guy who left the party is up to, and surprise, surprise, he's searching for Falin...

The new OP is great. Visually everything I could've wanted and captures the camaraderie of our main party, a major charm point of the series, well. New ED gives us more visuals from Ryoko Kui which is always a treat and a more somber song to end episodes on.

A slower episode with a lot of dialogue, but important nonetheless. We get a proper look into Kabru's party as they piece together their thoughts on the main party. A slower pace to reset as we dive into the second cour helps after all the major plot developments of the past few episodes.

I expected the OP to be more dark and serious, but this is nice.
The subs we want start with "Laios and his crew agreed to head back to the surface". "Laios and the crew are returning to the surface" are subs for the dub.
I like the ED! It's called "sparkling ash", interesting.
Interesting episode, I really hope this party encounters Laios' party and they cooperate somehow (and learn the beauty of dungeon food).

Kaburu is such an interesting character! (especially to ladies seemingly, did you see that blush, lmao) As for the most important takeaways from this episode: IZUT ASEBI!, TADE!, SHUROOO! Also loved the new op and ed, Ryoko Kui's art never disappoints.

I was expecting Laios and the group to save them again but looks like it's time for some new character to shine.

The new happy vibes OP means we're done with the grim eldritch horror stuff and are back to silly meal-of-the-week adventures, right? ...Right? (Still a bop tho)

Catching up with Kabru's squad made me expect yet another round of getting dunked on by monsters the Laios crew made/will make lunch out of. Instead got outplaying an illusion spell like a badass, campfire stories about the main team and Kabru: Ace Detective. Seriously though, props to Kabru's ability to keep his cool, like I think even Senshi would promprly make a month's rations of sashimi if he were surrounded by fishmen.

And of course, the keyword in "agreed to head back" was "agreed", lmao.

Kabru's party sure is full of dick-riders, while he himself has quite the inflated ego. Every time he speaks as if he knows everything, it just rubs me the wrong way. Kabru also has this holier-than-thou attitude, okay with stealing food from corpses (who tried to scam/kill them no less), but not their cash...the same thing Laios's party did after they died, yet they have the audacity to call them thieves. Hypocrites. And of course, they still believe their "treasures" were stolen not knowing they were killed by said "treasures". He may be good at observation, but terrible at drawing conclusions. Good as a leader, but terrible as an adventurer (when he keeps getting his party killed over and over again in the mid levels) at the same time criticizing Laios's and his party, when they were the ones who made it to the bottom twice without dying (minus Falin), and even slayed the dragon.

Kabru and his party should die and get resurrected more often. I already know I'm going to hate that guy for the remainder of the series from seeing his shitty personality.

Ninja girls are here! I definitely hope for lots of screen time for them.

New OP and ED are nice. Although I still personally prefer the OP by Bump of Chicken. The new ED is equally as great at the first one.

Looking forward to next week~

@phantomfandom I think that he meant to kill them "permanently" and later we see them dump the bodies in the lake where they will be devoured by the monsters so there's no chance that they will get retrieved

This author loves to keep on with cheap tropes. Characters that just happen to be close by save the day once again for the current protagonists with the swing of a blade. For a huge dungeon the adventurers seem to pool up in a rather specific area, while the main crew rarely crossed paths with other adventurers in their original descent.

At least I do give some credit to the author with the gravedigger crew that admited they were tailing Kabru's crew and wanted to charge another resurrection fee.

Same. I liked Sleepwalking Orchestra so much that I added it to my main playlist. I guess I will continue listening to it so it is better to get something new, it just feel weird not seeing it at the beginning of the episode maybe that and the different party POV makes it feel like this is a spin off.

@Kimurah It's big but I don't think it's as big as you thought. I expect there to be specific routes that adventurers like to take so it's not that surprising that they would run into each other.

I wondered why this man didn't join Laios in the dungeon to save Falin if he loves her so much but now it seems like he just wants to ask for help from his friends to help him. It also looks like he is in a high status.

About Kabru someone can explain to me why he anti Laios so much? Yes, there is the part where they think that Laios stole from them but I didn't understand what was Kabru's points except that.

Kabru is not a normal adventure and he doesn't need to be judged like one, he has the capability but it's not capability against monsters as a normal adventure has. He has capability against humans it's not the first time that he has killed humans and he has skill when he fights against humans (not a spoiler I just think so).

New cour means a new OP and ED, and they’re bangers once again, sumika I haven’t heard since the 2nd OP for “A Couple of Cuckoos” and I really like their song here too, although the visuals and song do kinda clash with where we’re at in the story but imo that’s perfectly fine lol. The ED tho, man that’s a contender for best ED of the season already and my spring shows have mostly not even started yet lol, they did a great job there once again. And the episode itself was really focused on a party we didn’t see a lot of in the first half, being Kabru’s party, and this definitely gave a lot of insight on what they’re about based on their encounter with those assholes that attacked them and what they thought of Laios’ party, and I gotta say I’m not sure if I’m totally with them but I’m interested for sure.

And speaking of when they were attacked, I’m kinda surprised at myself that I immediately called that the fish monsters were actually the other party members, caught that very quickly, but the best part of this was the smooch between Kabru and Rin in fish form lol, it was especially good when we got to see what Rin was seeing later. And after an encounter with a sea snake we got introduced to a new party with that one guy who left Laios’ party after Falin got eaten, and although he’s a bit late it is nice that he’s also searching for Falin, he has some cool characters in his party as well. I’m looking forward to the 2nd search for Falin with these new characters in the mix, as well as seeing the OG gang try and make it out alive lol.

They're all looking for the same people, idiot, no shit they would cross paths. What gave you the impression that the dungeon is so big that it should somehow be impossible for adventurers to meet each other even if they're all going the same way? How would the dungeon ever be cleared if it were that big? Nevermind they were fighting a fucking sea serpent, not hard to miss.

Stop being a incel, get a job, do something, goddamn.

The new op and ed are here and the op isn’t exactly what I thought it was going to be but it isn’t half bad. The ed for this cour is definitely fantastic though. We got another look at Kabru’s group today instead of focusing on Laios group and they sure seem to know a lot about his group and seem intent on finding them and hurting them. We shall see what happens in this second cour. This show has been a treat and I’ve been looking forward to this show for a while now so let’s go we got another 3 months with this show!

@cyberfluff Both. The series will become progressively more plot focused but the light hearted cooking aspect will still always be present. There's going to be a lot of future episodes that jump between comedy and serious events, just to warn you if you find that sort of thing jarring
