What the hell was that?! It's so weird broo and it doesn't make sense to me. Dude really just betray his team in the middle of the match and go to the other team... and here I am thinking this anime couldn't be any worse but it's getting way worse. Is this the ultimate plot twist that you guys are talking about? Such a bad writing. Cringe is real lmao I'm tired of defending it. Now we're back from being a ridiculous unrealistic fantasy sports anime. But still, can someone explain to me why this so called betrayal is necessary? I didn't really understand what they want to happen.

And is it just me or the pacing of the anime is getting weirder and weirder?

Not a Blue Lock fan but he betrayed cuz he didn't think his team would survive so he cooperated with the other team and got 3 free goals making him the top scorer of his team which gives him a surefire way of surviving even if his team doesn't.
But really the series just wanted stupid unnecessary drama and yeah the pacing is getting worse imo.

Nah mate, That's how Succar works. If you don't like your teammates, you defect to the opponents team. That's common sense

I mean you just explained it yourself. His reasoning is not wrong, team Z is pretty trash compared to the other teams it’s very clear why he would think to do it. ๐Ÿฅฉ๐Ÿง

Yeah I pretty much agree, it was a stupid tactic because once they had a three goal lead he could have simply not betrayed team Z and then perpetuate this tactic against the other teams, but at least the twist was executed well, which undermined the stupidity of it.

Nah your brain cannot comprehend the concept of switching sides. When this happens in a battle shounen, you won't bat an eye so stop judging Blue lock with special lenses. It has established that it is far from realistic, It is not going to be anything like Ao ashi or whatever sports anime people compare it to. Go check out this forum page to get your question answered. https://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=2057520

Also, Blue lock is not an unrealistic fantasy sports anime because of the concept of ego or edgy teenagers being good at football, or the fact that Kuon betrayed his team. it is a fantasy because of the prison-like facility holding youngsters with riot gear, interactive holograms, and loads of money Ego frequently dashes down the drain. There is no doubt that this story is not based on actual events. Instead, it is a world similar to ours but has provisions for a story of this nature. Or to put it another way: A fictional world based on reality.

It's all a moot point because he doesn't trust Team Z. Two teams will move on to the next round. Team V are pretty much guaranteed to go through leaving one spot for everyone else to battle out. If Team Z lose to Team V, they will not have enough points. Kuon's thought process is, "let me stop everyone else on my team from scoring goals by betraying them". That way he makes it out to the next round because the highest goalscorer from each team is guaranteed to progress. The plan makes sense but this is anime, so you wouldn't expect him to succeed.

Soccer isn't a team sport in this anime, it's every man for themself. That's kind of the whole point. If you don't like the show then don't watch it.

he switched sides, not teams. there's a difference bc he was still on team z, just not on their side. did you even watch the episode if you can't understand why he switched sides? he literally explained it. was it too complex for you bc it was a really simple explanation, honestly. i mean if you had the ability to put two brain cells together.
and define "weird pacing". tf does that even mean? pacing can either be fast, slow or properly paced. "weird" is not a way to describe pacing.

This is not a regular sports anime, so don’t come and expect it to be like ao ashi, their sole purpose is to survive there and they can go to any lengths to do that like squid game

He Didnt switched mid match
He Didnt saw value on his team (saw the oponents were in a winning streak and easily won against teams that team z had a Hard time against) and made a deal with the oponents b4 the game (they explained that was why he got late to the meeting) , they agreed to let him get some goals (so he wouldnt be kicked out) but still getting his team mates to loose.
Im not a manga readers but judging by ego's expression he Did not liked it, if it was me i would say smthing like "So you hoping to negotiate ur defeat in the world cups? I want a striker not a con artist, DISQUALIFIED"

I get his reasoning for turning on his team, but I mainly take issue with it because it shows how fundamentally flawed this concept is. How can Blue Lock be about finding the next best striker if cheating takes precedence over talent? Should they be expected to overcome cheating? Of course not, because this isn’t a realistic scenario. If a teammate was working against you, they’d be taken off immediately.

You gotta get it through your head that this isnt professional soccer. This is a selective competition.

Also you gotta wait until the match is over for why the people incharge didnt straight up stop the match

Up to this point of the show, this may be the only logical thing that happened lol. In a real match, yes, no one will betray you but some one or multiple players can get a red card and the team have to play with less player. Here, it's really exaggerated but playing with less players is very much possible.

Surprisingly it kind of made sense to me. Their team is the lowest seed of the selection tournament so it's not that unrealistic to assume that they won't beat the number one seeded team. Seeing as they already have one loss, once they lose against the top team it's set in stone that team Z won't make the top 2 and thus will be eliminated. Assuming only the ace of team Z will make it through the selection is not very unrealistic.
By first scoring three goals, and then making sure no one on team Z makes another goal by joining the opposing team he secures his position as the teams ace and gets to move on in the competition.
I agree that this anime cares more about being a cool shounen than accurately representing sports, but everything that happens does link back to reality (albeit in an overexaggerated fashion, but that's anime for you).

He wanted to go through but wasn't sure if Team Z was capable of doing so, so the reason why he got 3 goals for Team Z was just so he could get the top scorer wildcard position.

Also this is basically what's kind of expected with this anime cos every player is a striker and they're meant to use their egos so it's expected to see people like this. Wonder what other shiz will happen in the series, I'm very intrigued.

Seven episodes in and people still expect this shit to be "rEaLisTiC?" LMFAOOOOO. I'm anime-only and I realized right from the start, because of the exaggerated effects in the first episode, that this anime won't be realistic. And that's not even a bad thing, exaggeration can make things more entertaining and fun to watch. Just look at Kuroko no Basket, probably the poster child of "unrealistic sports anime."

As for an explanation for the betrayal, Kuon literally spoonfed that information to the audience so idk what to tell you if you're still asking why he betrayed them ๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿ’€
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

Take me back to the days before MAL became infested with Twitter's favorite buzzwords.

I admit the pacing of it has been strange but the betrayal that was made and him switching teams like that does make sense, everyone in blue lock is fighting for their spot as japan's #1 striker and not lose their whole career they all know they are strong players and would do anything to become the best and survive this trial so it makes sense he would betray his team
