If you are going to have sexual intimacy as a core objective/issue a character has, then you have to build upon it…not just have the character scream while fighting a giant bat “I wanna touch boobs!” It seems completely juvenile, and the audience immediately loses respect for said character who only has surface level motivations. “I want to have a family” would have been WAAAAY better a motivation, and you can have things like him carry around an ad of a wedding photo, with kids and stuff, and even have daydream sequences of him imagining he is married, and even have a sex scene to show he wants everything that marriage entails, sexual intimacy, emotional intimacy, etc…lit anything besides “I wanna touch boobs”.

He did want good food first. The first thing he asked to Makima about his new life was What's for Breakfast. He only started considering boobs as his goals after he realised he didn't had to worry about food anymore. Did you miss the scene where he made that sandwich at Aki's home? That was him securing his goal of having good food.


He already has all that. He has a job, a place to call home and good food.


Denji repeatedly says how he wants to score with a girl before he dies in the first episode. At that point he thought it was impossible for him to score with a girl ever in his life given his circumstances. Even now he believe he is not ready to get a girlfriend either so he made his goal to touch tits.


When is Denji shown to be a emotional wreck? He is sad but he not to a level where you can call him an emotional wreck. In the future episodes you would see hum questioning why he doesn't get as sad or emotional over people's death as other people do. He even questions if he even has a heart.


Denji's character growth follows something called the Maslow's hierarchy of needs.

Right now Denji is at the stage where he is seeking love and belonging. He wants to love someone and want to be loved by someone. But considering his upbringing he himself doesn't understand his true desires. That's exactly why the boob touching thing is relevant. It's for Denji to realize that what he seeks, the thing that is missing from his life is not touching boobs but emotional connection with people.


Yes it's Juvenile and that is the case because Denji is a teenager with no education or any interaction with the opposite sex. He doesn't have the societal knowledge that a regular 16 year old should have. You really need to understand Denji's psychology. You are treating him like a normal guy when he clearly isn't. Even in the next episode you will see Power calling out Denji's goals as dumb. Even Denji understands this goal of his is lame. You are gonna see him say that as well in the next episode.


That's exactly where Denji's character is going. He doesn't understands what he wants now but he will soon. It would reach to a point where Denji wouldn't even think about sexual stuff anymore. You would have to wait for chapter 71 to be animated to see this growth of his though. The touching boobs thing is gonna end in next episode though.
