When people say the "Big Three" they are generally talking about One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach, the 3 manga that filled the void Dragon Ball left after it concluded. But I'd argue that the Big Three has evolved and changed over time. I consider Dragon Ball, One Piece, and Naruto to be the true Big Three, as these are the three Shonen Jump manga with the highest total gross and largest cultural impact. In addition, Jump treats these three like the Big Three anyways, making them the selling points for products like Jump Force, as Bleach proved to be a commercial failure later in its life. Would you agree with my assessment, or do you think different anime should make up the big three?

Because these "Big Three" were all popluar at the same period? (99-04). I mean, why would you even put a classic shounen from the 80s with them?

the true big 3 is one piece, naruto ,bleach. dragon ball was more of the grandfather to those 3 since it came first so thats why most claim it with the big 3, but big 3 is the one I stated above.

True big three. Just forget about others.
They're just a bunch of scraps.

Bro, the big three was name given to specific time. A time where three big manga and anime existed and popularized anime in the early 2000s.

Those are One Piece, Bleach, and Naruto.

No exception.

Bleach doesn't fit in there. Dragon ball would have been a better choice, specifically Dragon Ball Super.

Bleach, naruto and one piece will always be the big three. There can be new shounens in the future that become popular but when I think of "big three", I think of this group

Was literally on here to say exactly this. These were the original 'big three' It should be noted, however, that the term 'big three' didn't become a thing until the early 2000s when One Piece, Bleach, and Naruto were the top shounen anime.
If you disagree with any thoughts or opinions expressed in the above post, you're wrong and I hate you forever!

i think the big three will always be one piece, naruto, and bleach in my mind, but i think the new-gen big three should be jujutsu kaisen, my hero, and chainsaw man. maybe something else instead of csm, but that was the first thing that came to my mind.

Agreed. The Big 3 isn't an opinion; it's not about which series people think are 'the best' or any sort of designation of quality.
"The Big Three was a term used to describe the three most popular running series during their golden age in Jump's mid 2000s period - One Piece, Naruto and Bleach."

Like, you can have your own thoughts about whether or not you actually like any of the 3. But that doesn't change the fact that they are the Big 3.

It doesn't really matter to me to be honest. The Big Three had more of an impact in the time period that they aired than they do now. Anime has become popular in the West since they aired. So the title doesn't really have anymore relevance.

The original shounen Big Three are no longer as relevant as in their prime.

I would argue that at some point Gintama, Jojo and BNHA were the Big Three. Maybe they still are right now.

Honestly i disagree, i even consider naruto to be a even bigger failure then bleach in a story aspect, u have good points but the big three simply refers as the 3 biggest shounen anime AT THE time, doesn't matter how bad bleach got since they were on the same league as naruto and one piece, and then had a drop of quality but the same can be said about naruto, except the naruto fanbase continued to watch despite it all, cuz the anime wasn't canceled, but i actually thought naruto got much worst overtime then bleach did. If i would to make a big three using the whole story of shounen would be OP, HxH and dragon ball, HxH isn't a commercial sucess as naruto but story wise is prob the best there is in shounen alongisde OP, and dragon ball is just the father of all shounen so i think would be a good top 3

Honestly when it comes to the west I doubt that I would even count One Piece in the big three it was popular sure but not as Dragon Ball or Naruto in the slightest.

I would say that the "real" big three/four are DBZ, Naruto and MHA/AOT because these anime got a lot more people into the medium in different time periods

DBZ-late 90's/early 00's
Naruto Late 00's/Early 10's
MHA/AOT Late 10's (and early 10's in the case of AOT)

the big 3 refers to the 3 main shows in the 2000's period of time which are
- One Piece
- Naruto
- Bleach

idk why you peeps are getting heated over this because it's not hard and it only refers to the 2000's period.

Has a 8.60 mean score

So, the 3 big series that coined the term "Big 3" are One Piece, Naruto and Bleach. There is no other big 3. There is no changing this. There is no new big 3, or adjusting the big 3 to fit yours or anyone else's idea of what the big 3 "should be".

It is perfectly okay to dislike or to not see it that way if you so choose.

But the only reason you are writing a forum with big 3 in the title, is because big 3 is a title that exists. And said title belongs to, One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach. It is as true as the sky is blue and the grass is green.

DBZ cannot be considered one of the Big 3 because the anime had already ended its original run long before One Piece, Naruto and Bleach started airing and the term was even born in the first place (yes, there was GT, but nobody cares about that one).

And by the time DB Super became a thing, Bleach and Naruto had ended their anime run (yes, there is Boruto, but nobody cares about that one); then, the DBS anime ended its run a few years ago, so now only One Piece remains, really. So basically there is no such thing as a Big 3 anymore and there won't be a "new" one for the foreseeable future.

You are trying to take a term that was used to describe the state of the manga industry in the 2000s and apply it outside that context.
