is there anyone here who is like that? u know, hating on stuff just because they're really popular? i am guilty of this myself. idk why but i have a strong hatred for jujutsu kaisen, demon slayer, and attack on titan, even tho i have never watched the first 2 and only seen the first 3 seasons of aot. i tend 2 hate anime that get really mainstream cause i feel like my favorite anime deserve that lvl of fame way more. i am sure demon slayer and jujutsu are decent anime, but i hate them for that reason nd i always will. is there anyone else like this? if so then why are you like this? let me know |

No, I never understood why anyone would hate an anime based on popularity alone. The only way to decide if an anime is good or bad is to watch it. If the anime is both popular and bad then so be it. |

You've got envy problems, OP. You're attributing things to fame that are irrelevant of and independent to being popular. Popularity doesn't mean anything, stop caring about frivolous things if you care about good stories and anime. It means literally nothing, good anime can be popular, and some are. Lunilah said: There is absolutely no validity to disliking something simply because it's popular. There is no control over what gets popular, even if you measure popularity in different ways such as most favorited or popular among a specific subset of fans and it would still be just as irrelevant. It's a display of ignorance, judging something not on what is but what is external to that something or more importantly out of it's control. Sounds familiar, doesn't it? |

I personally think that hating an anime ONLY bc of its popularity isn't exactly that much of a valid reason to hate an anime, more so if you haven't seen the anime in question. I'm totally fine with it tho if you sh*t on an anime for bad writing, bad characters, etc. and its also totally fine to watch a popular anime and not like it |

I don't think people should hate on any anime for being popular, seems unseemly. Hate it for other aspects like writing or shit characters or something, that makes much more sense. i hate them because of the over exposure and hype from all the fanboys. and to be honest i dont think i would like them either way cuz i would try 2 find every little detail to criticize since i already hate them |

I would hate it if people loved it, it's popular, and then when I watched it, I didn't like it. I mean you can't just hate an anime because it's popular. It's a human's nature. People tend to watch an anime because it's simply popular, and why is it popular? Because many of them find it good. |

It's a trend nowadays. Everyone think the are sounding cool if they can badmouth popular anime. It's like Marvel vs Martin Scorsese. Only thing is that Martin Scorsese was right, anime popular anime haters are down-way Baka... And it's all my biased opinion |

Rather than using the word "hate" for something I haven't even watched, I'd say "there's a 99.99% chance I won't like it". That's how I felt about Demon Slayer and JJK, and watching their first few episodes just confirmed that. Now I feel the same about Tokyo Revengers, but don't get me wrong: sometimes expectations are subverted. |

I have a friend like you that hates popular anime without even watching them. And I'm constantly trying to knock some sense into their head. I honestly don't understand that logic. I'm fine with anyone hating whatever show after watching it, but why would you hate on it for the sole reason that it's popular? |

I can't say I do. Some of my favorite anime are really popular (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Pokémon, My Hero Academia) and so are some of my least favorites (Pop Team Epic, Madoka Magica, Beyond the Boundary). I guess I just judge them based on how much I enjoy them I am less interested in watching a series if it's popular though. Although that's just because I tend to dislike most shows that the majority of anime fans like I guess maybe I do "hate" popular ecchi and hentai though. Even if I've never seen most of them I just know I wouldn't like them. Although that's mainly because I don't like ecchi/hentai in general, and not because of popularity |

I hate anime that I don't like simple as that. My biggest one is HxH this literally the only major anime I have watched were I can't understand the hype and score. It's so generic and when I say that HxH fans get so toxic and annoying they sweat on their keyboards and never give a solid argumenton why its good. Its like they all have preprogrammed responses they all say the same thing and never argue any points I make. I tried forcing myself to like it but it's so predictable, generic and boring I dropped it. It's fine to not like popular anime if you actually watched it or tried to watch it so I would say you can't hate JJK or Demon Slayer if you never tried. |

I kind of get what you're trying to say. I've made my peace with not liking a few popular shows, but I tend to lose my temper when people cite popularity as a reason for why something they like is objectively better than what I like. Once, I had to leave a group chat when I said I wasn't going to watch AOT S4 while it was airing and would rather binge it later, and received some rather unsavoury replies. I still haven't watched it, and I tend to take an immediate dislike to people who try to shove their opinions about 'AOT supremacy' down my throat. While I don't 'hate' the show (it's pretty decent imo), it's definitely something that I avoid discussing about. |

I argued with this guy on this site and he repeated these phrases over and over again. |

Personally I don't hate mainstream anime and hating an anime just because of it's popularity is quite immature in my opinion but what I find not annoying but tiring is to see and hear about the same things everywhere and this doesn't reffering to anime but in general for me |

I also loved the Major she's so badass, cool and one of my favorite anime protagonist. The Fate series is good some of the best fights and moments are in the Fate series for me. But I will say Fate is not for everyone especially when it comes to Fate/Stay Night UBW which is Zeros sequel. You probably will like it judging from your list. One thing about Fate it has the best animation out there. |

I think i would probably hate demon slayer less if it wasn't popular but i would still hate it |
Just watch anime instead of looking at forums |

Yeah to an extent - but it's more of a hype/expectation thing. I hear so much of certain anime. Everyone is raving and hyping them up to high heavens. Then when I actually come around to watching them they don't match the expectations. And often times I'm left sitting there asking: "That's it? That was nothing special. What was all that hype about?" |

hate? nah. at most, i'll be confused why some series that i consider mid is so popular, but even then i understand that people like different things. so it's fine. |
