Well done priest! At least someone in this series isn't 100% retarded.

This episode was not great. The set up was just strange, and who broke into the town and killed that guy? Maybe that will be explained in the next episode? I understand what Wolfwood was trying to do, but he didn't have to shoot to kill. Vash probably would have succeeded anyway. It was definitely a call back to Rem and the spaceship. The next episode looks like it may be Wolfwood's last.

I don't find Vash's way of doing things annoying, at all. It's just the way he is and it's fine by me. He has to keep in mind that by risking his own life he also risks the lives of every human being though. But I'm sure he knows what he's doing, after all, he lived doing things like that all this time.

Also, my assumption is that these worms are not normally a threat to humans as they immediately stopped attacking and left when he destroyed the device on the boy's head. Vash didn't want to kill innocents that were being controlled against their will.

Good point, Vash could've easily known that these worms are not aggressive towards humans by nature, which might have helped him to draw a conclusion in this situation.
Oh, and when it comes to not killing them... Weapons are not the ones doing the killing, humans are. And in this situation worms were those weapons. That's all that I have to say.

Sometimes you have to take harsh steps. You can't always be too good every single time. Everyone wants peace and love; to trust others and live in happiness. But the way of non-violence just doesn't work every time. Because you might get killed before you can even stop a war with bare hands. You just can't always be good. Even angels don't do everything themselves; they leave some work for the demons as well. No matter what choice you make; don't ever regret it and keep moving forward. Everything needs sacrifice, make sure they don't go in vain!!!!!!!!

Well, to think worms like this were living on that planet...gross. Wolfwood was rather rash shooting him honestly, but well cruel world they're living in, no choice.

So Vash eats meat, but he's too good to shoot animals which are a danger to his friends? What a fucking hypocrite... Nicholas was completely right to set him straight. And a place without violence, wars and stealing? That place is called a dream, because it doesn't exist.

Vash is such a retarded character. How can he still be so naive despite being 100+ years old and having lost a lot of people he cared about because of his way of thinking, he actually should be the one understanding the most that you can't save the spider and the butterfly.

While being optimistic and idealistic in your world beliefs isn't inherently a bad thing, I'll have to admit that Vash is too much of a softy at times even if it means going against all logic and that results in things turning out a lot worse than it should've. I still respect him a lot for sticking with his ideals though.

I can see why Wolfwood shot Zazie like that but it was a very unpleasant thing to see that he killed someone who could've redeemed himself. It's risky as hell to let Vash continue with his negotiations but it really felt like the supposed demon was just a traumatized kid deep within.

I actually wouldn't mind if he killed the Saxophonist instead since it's very likely that he was the pied piper who mind-controlled everyone into leaving the kid's hometown. Perhaps that's just the truth of this world (well, of course it is) but at least the risk's been dealt with despite how distastefully it was done plus the point that the kid probably would've been killed off-screen by Legato, oof

Seems like Wolfwood had enough of Vash's terrible logic.
I noticed a drop in the animation.

Edit:
Okay I understand that Vash is a foolish extreme pacifist so he got angry, but why the fuck is Meryl also angry at Wolfwood for saving her life and also the city? She became a non-logical pacifist now too?

@Deago she´s clearly attracted to Vash, which means she has been moved by his idealistic actions. Most of the times when you like someone you tend to take some of their traits and be "influenced" by them.

Before going into the pacifist drama, I do have to say the series is way better after episode 11. There are still very mediocre stuff in there but overall the tone is a lot better. Now, I do understand the reasoning behind Vash´s pacifism, but it just doesn´t work most of the times, I still find it "good" but stuff like "I can´t kill animals, but I can shoot a building to crush the same animal" is way beyond stupid. He´s not even vegan, so the whole "but what about the animals" is not smart at all.

In my opinion, it would´ve worked better if his ideology was more about "Killing is bad because we shouldn´t change the natural order of things" not because "I need to save the killer and the killed" which, ironically, never works in this own series, and it´s the entire reason why he is called a typhoon.

Exactly, I was criticising the fact that she became a "female Vash," losing her previous original personality and individuality as a character, I dislike characters who become a mere copy or follower of another character, compare her to Milly -who's better written and more developed character-, Milly sees Vash's ideals, then either states her opinion about them, or at least takes some aspects of it and mixes them.
Vash being Meryl's love interest was the only justification for her sloppy character development; being a carbon copy of Vash makes her a dependent female character, a dependent thinker, and the existence of that thinking-dependency wasn't meant to explore a theme about "independent thinking."

tldr; bad character writing.

They're so sweet with the kids, especially Meryl.

The sandworm battle was badass.

I mean, Wolfwood was probably right. Vash can avoid and even sustain injuries from humans but probably not survive a demon.

Who's the dude with the other cross at the end?

It's always interesting to see Wolfwood and Vash clash. Especially since they continue to try and bridge the gap between them, while still remaining completely opposite. That being said, I think Wolfwood is the way better character. I can sympathize with his actions more than Vash's. Though, I'm also not turned off by Vash's optimism and idealism like other people seem to be.

The whole theme about Vash's "pacifism" has worn out, he is too overpowered to sell the idea that he struggle with trying to save everyone, especially when the first episodes showed that he could but now he just moping around and barely doing anything else so the priest could have a point about killing the boy/demon/whatever that it was supposed to be.

The animation was bad from start to finish.

This is certainly a good episode it presents two perspectives on how to handle a dire situation, one for Vash and one for Wolfwood. While I’d say neither were in the right, Vash wants to protect people from harm but there was no way of knowing if the kid was still there when Zazie possessed him and he could’ve easily killed Vash if he wanted. Vash has got good moral principles about him but he can’t surely have said principles work out in his favour all the time.

As for Wolfwood? While he makes sound points about killing when the odds are stacked up against each other and doing what you must. But the thing is he didn’t even hesitate to kill the kid in question. Yeah sure Zazie was in control at the time but what if Zazie let control of the body because he thought there was no point in having the kid as leverage? Did he not think to consider that possibility before shooting? But maybe I’m over thinking this about the moralities of Vash and Wolfwood in particular because they are meant to be polar opposites for good reason.

That said, it looks like we will getting more about Wolfwood in the next episode. Shame he left them like that. Maybe the both of them will reconsider their points of view, maybe not, I’ll wait and see what happens. For now? Like I said it was a good episode and it was a nice showcase of both Vash and Wolfwood in particular.

Rem ruined Vash's life with the things she teaches to him. She believed in a perfect world that never gonna exist and ade Vash believed in same world. If she teached him that sometimes you need to make hard decisions to save others or even the analogy about butterfly and spider was explained to him differently there gonna be less people death by now.
I understand that Merly likes Vash so she accepts his ideals more but its make her less of and interesting character and make Milly a lot more interesting because she has her own thoughts even when she supposed to be dumber one.
