I don't know about 2016. That was rather one of the best year of anime, or at least in this decade, many great and popular anime came out that year.
And there are more, but these are probably the ones that stood out. |

| I'm not sure if I have a "best year," but I'd say that 2006 was the worst year for Anime, because I can't seem to find anything from that year that I would ever watch. |
