| Just completed F/SN and I love it. All three routes were awesome. My favorite was Fate route. And well, Heaven's Feel was just so sad. Especially the normal end, but the true end was great. I really like Sakura now after seeing her dedication for Shirou in the normal end :( She deserved a happy ending, so true end did her justice :) And the last episode of Fate was divine. It was perfect! I admit I cried a little when I was reading the last episode. For me, Fate > Heaven's Feel > Unlimited Blade Works Anyway, can any of you recommend me a good VN like F/SN? |
| F/SN... VN... good...? Those three words should not go in a sentence together... I think my biggest takeaway from F/SN was increased blood pressure from wanting to punch Shirou's face so much. But leaving the bashing aside, I could recommend you Nasu's other works... but I won't, since I don't like him. Instead, try out G Senjou no Maou. It's not exactly the same genre but at least target audience is the same + it's actually good. If you want something else, my avatar is from Umineko no Naku Koro Ni (the character is not in the anime). However, since the tone is quite different from F/SN and it's not even a dating sim, you should probably try G Senjou no Maou first. |

It's funny to me that you complain about Fate being not that good (granted, despiste Shirou being a great character overall, his lows are REALLY low and unbearable) and you mention G-Senjou being good when that game suffers a lot from being extremely poorly written in regards to it's main twist/buildup and side characters, even though it kinda redeems itself with it's epilogue (Same as to how awful HF it's at the beginning and yet redeems itself from Illya's castle onwards). I think both novels are overall good mind you, just an observation. Regarding the main topic, for recommended VN you could try Tsukihime (same writters) or Dies Irae (similar battle royal-ish setting with well developed characters, if that's what you liked about Fate). There is also a Fandisk for F/SN called Fate/Ataraxia (fully translated) and a couple of other Fate videogames like Extella or Extra if you still want more of the franchise. Other great VNs are Fata Morgana, Steins;gate, Umineko no naku koro ni, Zero Escape series...but those may not be up your style, read the summary and see what you think about it. Search VNDB and steam for more recommendations |

Conception II is great btw definitely play it if you like RPGs and VN. |

| hey, @swirlydragon ! Haven't seen you for a while! But yes, I agree with the above. Umineko series is a great VN and I say that as someone who read through Umineko in its... first version where the visuals were much weaker and there was no voice acting, compared to the current version which has both improved visuals and voice acting for all dialogues. But keep in mind that Umineko can get very, very meta... and abstract. But you should definitly read it! It sometimes feels likethe discussions we have on MAL! G-senjou no maou is also definitly worth a read, but keep in mind that the side-routes and the main-route are very different from each other. The main antagonist(?) of this VN is one of my favorite antagonists(?) of all fiction altogether (and is also voiced by Lelouch's/Koro-sensei's japanese VA, Fukuyama Jun)! Definitly check this out. It has the Death Note/Code Geass battle of wits feel to it. I'd also recommend you to play the Zero Escape series, which is more of a puzzle game than VN, but it's definitly worth it. It has a similar mindf*ckery aspect as Madoka Magica or Steins;Gate, so you should definitly give it a shot as well! |

| personally I consider F/SN overrated and even more so since its became a cash cow. i am going to assume you have already looked at type moons other VNs as for VN outside of type moon Monster girl quest: yes it has a TON of lewd. However, the story is ridiculously good. utawarerumono: it has a strategy game bit, but i still recommend it Inganock: if you enjoy Victorian era post apocalypse you should give this a try. Higurashi VNs Fault Milestone: high fantasy series however, the story for this one is not finished however unlike the three above there is no romance in this one. if you are fine with more slice of lifieish VN then Hoshizora no memoria majikoi |
