/r/anime is probably even more cancerous, /a/ is completely on another level but if you want stuff like live action movies/shows then imdb is probably the best. For books theres goodreads.com eh I dont know if I did smth against the rules |
Oshii is probably the only director that loves dogs. He thinks he's a dog himself. That's right, its slime! It will dissolve your clothing slowly before my eyes! |

PFFFFFFFFHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA!!! Great communities? Like MAL? None of these communities are remotely good, thanks to a bunch of the users ruining everything for everyone, being stupid AF and being assholes who can't take opinions or criticism. I've never bothered with the other places, but I don't think they'll be that tolerable either. Sure, there are plenty of individuals that are amazing and that are willing to engage in meaningful conversation, but not too many of them exist in forums that the communities form. Plus, a lot of vocal members are scum. |
Being wrong is just an occupational hazard. Follow me on twitter. I have an anitube channel so feel free to check it out and subscribe if you like what you see. |

>MAL >Great U wot mate? There is Goodreads.com for books, letterboxd.com for movies, VNDB for visual novels tho it is more of a database/listing setvice than a community but there are forums. And probably plenty more, I heard there was one for comixes there is tones of website for games (tho imo none of them have a satisfying listing feature so I cannot be bothered with them just for the community) and many more for other things. |

Like "anybody with [half a brain / over 100 anime watched / over 10 years old / whatever other thing I am] does/thinks [whatever is the opposite of what I do or think]". If I was more well-versed in SJW rhetoric, I would surely be able to explain that this is horrible discrimination. Probably "erasure" or something like that. |

I don't want to make assumptions, but the people here who post ''all anime communities are cancerous'' maybe just can't handle different types of people? I don't mean it badly, I hate shitposters and trolls as well, but why is there always this negative outlook? Maybe if someone posts more specific reasons I can understand. For example that there's to much opinion-talk and not enough discussion. And I understand it a little bit, I also like the small communities of my country more. |

Dry facts? I didn't explain myself good enough there. I meant if for example someone opens a thread like ''Is it okay to portray ... in anime?'' and the people commenting just say ''In my opinion yes.'' , ''No, I don't think so.'' I see this happen on MAL sometimes. It's not exactly bad, but I also want some reasons and that a discussion between users start, where they discuss each others arguments. So basically more discussion and less opinion-stating, or both at the same time. |

As a general rule, it means that either the opening question was not conductive to discussion, or the question has been discussed too much recently, and users feel that it's enough to say where they stand in a well-understood debate. |

Is it really okay to promote other sites here? Well whatevs. There are always rotten tomatoes in every community so I'm just speaking from my experience here. Reddit is the best if you look for recommendations, be it anime, games, movies, or books. Just put a bit of effort writing your request, you will likely find someone to go out and link to about several recs and writing a paragraph on how you might enjoy it. For discussion related to anime and manga, I'd say AnimeSuki is a chill place. Real discussion and less trolls, but unfortunately it's not as active as it used to be. Other alternatives are Hummingbird and Anime-Planet. Shitty database thou. I didn't spend that much time in there, can't really say much. MAL is a lot better than those two in general if you ask. I'll outright say this, Youtube is a cesspool. Probably you've already known that. |
