I find it really realistic given my own experience with being in love. It's been one day yes, but we can assume since they're living together that they've at least interacted almost every single day for however many months it has been (around 6 I think?). When you spend that much time with someone and suddenly they're not there it's jarring...not to mention this was the most important day Yuri has faced in this season as of yet, seeing as his entrance to the Grand Prix was on the line. When I think of it from that perspective it doesn't seem overdramatic to me.

Huh, am I the only one who's kind of disappointed with the anime so far? I mean, I fell in love with the first three eps, but to me it seems really lukewarm after that, with the exception of a few truly brilliant moments.

Like what's with Viktor losing his "mojo" part of the story? Is it totally irrelevant and forgotten now?
Why is Yurio downgraded to a side-character? What's going on with Yurio's grandpa?
Why is most of the time spent on shows of skaters I can't give two fucks about, because I can't "connect" to them since they get like, 2 mins of screentime each? And it leaves less time to show Yuuri's worries and char development, too. Now it's shown mostly during the skating parts and Viktor-Yuuri interaction, and it seems crammed. :/
What's with overusing "katsudon" joke? What's with obligatory over-the-top "crazy" skater joke (Georgi, Mickey)? You can only use the same gag so many times.

Am I missing out on something? I mean it's not *bad*, it's average so far, but I honestly expected more from the show. I started watching it because i love Yamamoto Sayo's work. :v Maybe my expectations got in the way?

You have to remember it is foremost a sports anime above all. Most of the development and action will happen during the performances. And I thought Yurio was always a side character. An important rival, but not the mains Viktor and Yuuri. I wouldn't expect it to go as in depth as you're wanting. It has went above and beyond what many sports anime will do which is why it is easy to forget, but its core genre is sports. We just happen to get more than sports in this anime, so we talk about other things more.

Be realistic guys. They won't marry. It's metaphorical. How should this even be possible?

Russia and Japan are both healthy countries that haven't succumbed to PC yet. Well, they could go to the U.S.

Well, I think this show has become a bit too silly recently. They do nothing but tease the audience. The BL bait scenes don't really fit into the concept of the show anymore. They should focus more on the sport.

somehow this episode is the most not gay out of all the others.

Victor kissed Yuris ring finger, they talked about always staying together and Yuri wants to get Victor smth "gold and round" for his birthday ( with all that context its implied its a ring; a ring)
Dunno if it can get any gayer than that XD

I felt like Yuri was desparate for a hug of Viktor, but since Viktor wasn't there he tried to ease this strong need by hugging others. But none actually gave him what he needed, resulting in him hugging everyone desperately without getting a feeling of content ;-;

That last scene (the hug at the airport) really made me feel like they both feel the same way about each other, but won't admit it. Viktor seems like he's denying his feelings by using humour, while Yuri thinks that it's only a coach and that they'll be seperated by the end of the season. If they really thought about dating, Yuri wouldn't be so deperessed about it.

At this stage, I wouldn't be surprised if nothing (as in, no proposal) happens at the end..
I personnally wouldn't mind... I like it when it's slow and you feel their growing emotions.

Come on, give us a season 2 !!!

As a queer person living in a country where same sex marriage is not possible, let me answer that for you; you fly to a country where it is possible and get married there. Or do some law stuff so you and your partnercan visit each other in the hospital and stuff, and make a private wedding party.

As for Japan, teoretically the Katsuki family could adopt Victor; put him in the family register, I read ppl do it like that, Victors and Yuris legal status would change to "family"
Also; while you cant get queer married in Japan, the country does recognize forgein gay married couples as married (unlike my homophobic turf) ; maybe it would work if Yuri and Victor married in Canada, but Im not 100% sure about that.

Yuri is the hug master. Nuff said. I also really like the subplot between Mickey and his sister. I really like how the show does a good job showing us the others. Also They did the right thing not having Yuri win in Russia. That will make it when he wins feel like us the viewer really saw him win.

I think if more ppl would think about technial aspects of legal gay marriage it would be most likely possible everywhere until now hahah.
But seriously, the shows good, because it makes ppl think about why Yuri and Victor cant legally marry, why didnt they kiss on the airport and stuff. It sucks a lot if you want to kiss your loved one goodbye on the bus station, but you can just hug. Because you dont feel safe, and dont want to deal with "the looks"

Well first of all I was bawling my eyes out at the end when Yuri and Victor was running with the glass between them since I believed it showed their affection of each other in that moment. And just looking at Yuri throwing himself in the arms of Victor in an embrace... Gaaah. You could see on Yuri throughout the episode that he was worried when seeing how good the other skaters were. I'm also guessing one reason he decided to hug all the participants was a way of giving and recieving comfort after almost loosing a place to the grand prix final. For a moment I thought he had already lost and I was really down until I saw he got through. It must've been so hard not to be able to discuss with Victor about his performance haha. But even though he made two mistakes I thought he did really well!

Yurio's performance was the best. One of the best in the series as well in my opinion. He moved fast and with elegance and I really enjoyed watching it. I also liked that we got to see more sides of Yurio, especially when he offered the cutlet powl pirozhki to Yuri after searching for him. And also, the fact that Victor took Yuri's comment about keeping Victor as his coach at the end, as a marriage proposal, that made me laugh. Someone said it already but this episode was a totally rollercoaster this time! :)

That actually brings up one of the things I've been thinking about for a while, which is this when combined with Yuri's age. While undoubtedly part of it is the age of target audience and protagonists in general, AFAIK anime with these themes generally feature younger protagonists. I have to wonder if it comes off as a little less innocent this way.

Can we please agree that Yurio's grandpa was great making katsudon piroshki? Yurio was fantastic in this episode! A great performance where he gave his all. Also his change in attitude was nice.

Also, I laughed when Crispino called Yuri a closet perv xD And hey, skating the moves we see in the opening in a song called "Serenade for two"? How fitting~

And as many others I found Yuri hugging everyone hilarious xD Man, I love this guy.

Happy Maccachin is ok! Even though it was a little expected because his death would be to much drama for this anime I think.

And yeah, the ending. It warms my heart to see the love between those two ;3;

I think this being center around adults makes the story more mature and allow to take it serious. Yuri could have easily been 15 if they wanted to.

That was a mistranslation. Yuri says 引退まで、ぼくのことをお願いします, which translates to something like "please take care of me until I retire". Then we have Victor saying how he wants Yuri to never retire. I don't think you can call this bait anymore.

That airport scene was the cutest shit I have witnessed in a LONG time. Honestly, it was beautiful. The way their eyes never parted from each other once they met and they ran to each other so frantically. That is romantic and endearing as all hell. Plus the kiss on the hand was very sweet. Yurio's performance was the almost highlight though. He did fantastic.

Definitely an emotionally charged episode, one of the best to air so far imo with the buildup and all the deep performances.
Yurio really stepped it up on that performance, really amazing for him and despite messing up during his routine, Yuri still managed to make finals and it seems he found a strong resolve this ep.
The sibling breakup was interesting, I liked how Mickey was skating after Sala told him off though
And JJ being the king once again with an easy win xD

And yes, that hug scene with everyone was golden! Especially Mickey, King and Yurio's reactions!
We also see a friendly rivalry building between the two Yuris, which is good because I like their interactions together
That airport scene was really well done, Yuri and Victor running while watching each other through the glass was a really good decision, it really looked nice

That was a horrible mistranslation by CR and I'm really disappointed in them, not that I'm surprised, really, I stopped trusting subs a long time ago. Yuuri never says "coach," ever, he says「引退まで、僕の事お願いします」, which basically means something along the lines of "until I retire, please take care of me"; the second part:「僕の事お願いします」 technically means something closer to "I'm handing myself to you, please take care of me," or "I'm handing myself to you, I'll be in your care," and it's also something a lot of couples say when getting married in Japan or when asking someone to marry them. It's no wonder Victor and the Japanese fans thought Yuuri was asking Victor to marry him, because that's exactly what it sounds like.

What a great episode this was. There were tons of emotional feels in all the characters with the exception of JJ. The opening with Victor sadly telling Yuri he'll be with him in spirit before getting on the plane was sad and emotional. I don't want them to be apart, but Victor's dog's life is more important than the competition.

Yuri hugging everyone was lol

Yurio's performance was top notch, and his hair ponytail looked so cute on him.

The twins' scenes were crappy and weird.

But the scene that made this episode important was the airport station of Yuri and Victor running to each other, staring at one another through the glass and hugging at each other. That made me squealed of happiness because I ship them so hard. And the marriage proposal scene makes me wonder if they ARE going to get marry. It was nice, solid episode with tons of character development and performances.
Cartoons and anime is my reality.

That's funny 'cause one of my favourite manga is Mizutama Honey Boy which can be called anything but heteronormative.
And one of my favourite character Nezumi whom can be called anything but straight.

True. But that's the thing, it's supposed to be an ambiguous line, which is not uncommon in the Japanese language because a lot of times you have to break down the sentences to get every meaning. Which is why Victor's response of "I wish you'd never retire" is there, he knows what Yuuri said (the retirement thing) so he understands what could happen, but he also noticed the actual meaning behind the line (the second half, to be more specific), because it's true that Yuuri doesn't want to let go of Victor, as much as he believes it's what's supposed to happen.

Anyway, whatever happens in the next few episodes I'm still happy with that line, even if they don't get married or actually propose; with this series, who knows at this point. lol

I think its called beeing heteronormative until it hurts :P I personally know a (stright) librarian lady who was shocked that Colletes "Claudine" is about lesbians; and she did read all the novels, ah man... :DD

Damn, you got it completely right. The straights are being wild today.

That's funny 'cause one of my favourite manga is Mizutama Honey Boy which can be called anything but heteronormative.
And one of my favourite character Nezumi whom can be called anything but straight.

Simply there are people who see it differently than you. Try to deal with it :)

You can still be heteronormative and engage in media with LGBT themes/characters. You liking a character doesn't mean you don't take ideas that have been ingrained in you since the dawn of time outside of fiction. I mean, hell, you even still apply them to fiction lmao.
“Victor can’t be satisfied by anyone but me.”

Nobody argues that the whole show's point being ambiguous, I mean who doubted in their relationship :)

I know I'm mean but seeing the overwhelming reactions... it just slips :)) Although whatever will happen between them doesn't really bother me :) Macchacin is fine, that's enough for me in this episode.
