ColdBreeze said: I think this comment is quite good and maybe some of you read it already- Subaru has many good traits. It's just that this arc showed the flipside of those strengths He's optimistic, he's resilient, and he's caring and protective. Come this arc the optimism becomes naivety, resilience becomes stubbornness, and the protective side becomes possessive. All because he's powerless now. He's basically doing the same thing as before, but the circumstance made him worse off. The smoke trick at arc 2 shows resourcefulness and bravery, in the Julius fight it's desperation and recklessness. Same action, polar opposite outcomes. I don't believe that it's as simple as that. It's not about the repeating of a similar action leading to two different outcomes, hence leading to two different views of the same character. I believe that you have to delve deeper into the intentions of both situations if you want to judge his character. In the second arc, the reason why people found his smoke trick "resourceful and brave" is because he intended to use it to save someone else. The action itself, regardless of success or failure would still be judged as brave and/or resourceful, simply because it was for a noble goal. Using the same trick when fighting for his own selfish reasons is another matter. Regardless of whether he succeeded in surprising Julius or not, the same trick would have still been deemed as dishonorable and dirty. His intention was to trick his way out of apologizing for all the slights and insults that he stupidly threw at the Knights order to hide his injured ego when Julius called him out for his bullshit. In that instance, he was trying to save himself from apologizing, metaphorically speaking "trying to get away with murder", and hence whatever the outcome, regardless of whether he managed to beat Julius or not, his actions would have been looked down upon with scorn. It was a good thing that Julius was unaffected and resumed beating the reality of the situation into him after that. The only shame of the situation was that Subaru never learned his lesson, and continued to act as he did even in the current episode. @Fai, funny to see no one challenging you after you admitted to being a Psych major. :P |

MC still hasn't learnt anything from the last episode but I'm realising what his major problem is. He lacks tact very much unable to control himself when provoked. He should have listened to Felis instead of storming off. |

How can you even compare this two girls at this point? We know basically everything about Rem. She had her developement, we know her backstory. Subaru treats her normally. Emilia on the other hand. We know nothing about her. No backstory. Subaru is literally her stalker. Maybe you should wait for her development before you pass verdict? Is Rem this, Rem that only thing that you are interseted in the story? If yes i am afraid future development and next season(s) (hopefully we get next season) will definitely not reach your expactations. |

I am also getting the feeling Emilia is a self hatting half-elf and in a lot of ways that type of racism is a very painfully and drawn out thing to fix. In a lot of ways Subaru Natsuki is pointing this out all be it in a very half hearted more self aimed or doing it for him self but he is still trying unlike every one else in that show. Emilia wouldn't hate herself if she was more like Satella. She should have just showed up to that royal selection meeting and gave a speech promising to give all her followers infinite lives. They would have cancelled the royal selection, and crowned her queen on the spot. But yeah, I'm sure that's a weakness of Emilia, and it probably hurts her a lot more than what we've been shown so far. I guess i am just getting the feeling there not going to be an happy ending for this world of theirs due to there hate for a given races. |

Time for another checkpoint! guess the upcoming events will have even more suffering for out protagonist, anyways; Rem must be saved, so I guess it's time for another suicide... though I don't think it's just that simple to have another time-leap. I guess I somehow misunderstand Julius, from what Subaru has done it's natural that one of the knights will simply assassinate him, so maybe Julius saved Subaru's life? well I can't tell |

I don't understand why people think, that it's all Subarus fault... I mean, yeah, he's doing a lot wrong, but he ist not the only one; finally I think you can say, that 1. Subaru hates himself for being that weak and not being as helpful as he wishes to be (thats why he is intervening all the time, even he does not recognize he is not helpful, but the opposite...) 2. Because of his ability he thinks that he is the only one really understanding everything (could be kind of true somehow, because he remembers things the others forget when time is resetting, but that does not help at all at the moment) 3. The others try to push him out of thinghs happening and not telling him, what going on despite knowing his wish to help, but that will not work as he wishes to be helpful that much (I mean it's understandable, they only see a nice, but weak guy, who has nearly died a few times, they don't know he's not staying dead...) So you can say, Subaru needs to accept, that he can not be helpful in every situation and that Emilia, Ram and Rem (if he does not go back in time and save her, I will kill him and make hin STAY dead!!!) can (and sometimes need to) do some things on their own and could know better, what to do now. (Shortly said: to trust them.) (And by the way, he should think of the possibility he is not doing things for Emilia, but for himself to be the big hero to Emilia.) But the others also have to accept his wish to help and don't push him out any more, even if it's only for him being present, so he CAN trust them, that they don't just try to keep him safe. |

So it was a decent episode. I'm not really sure if I like the new opening or not, I'll see if I can get used to it. About seeing Rem dead... I really hope that this time, time travelling won't be simply about finding the right combination of choices to make everything right. I'd like to see Subaru having to sacrifice something after trying many times. But it should be interesting nevertheless. I don't really like Subaru's attitude in last 2-3 eps. I think he's too arrogant and angsty. |

Translating is obviously harder because you need to be rather fluent in both languages. Edit: seems official english translation is near so it means it is licensed right now. |

The fcking OP is pure hype! the more I listen to it the better it fcking gets, last part was creppy af, I just find dark shadowy physical hands creppy (to top that shit those were a lot of hands) I still like Subaru despite the majority of hate he's getting from people here, Subaru isnt an op or shonen like character that can keep their facade despite the shit theyre going through, basically Subaru reached his limit, he shouldered and experienced shit way too much hence got broken mentally. Quite sad we wont reach arc 4 for an ok Subaru with not much mental problem but heck I shall enjoy this to the last episode (and hopefully this gets a 2nd season) |

Man, this anime is just getting worse and worse. It tries so hard and just falls flat on so many levels: the animation, characterization, voice acting, story-line, music, the list goes on and on. If they were trying to portray Subaru as a 'realistic' character they just failed really bad. I doubt anybody suddenly transported to a fantasy world would have such disregard for their previous life as Subaru. I just seriously doubt it. Hell, it's almost as if he's lived there his entire life. His ability to recover from multiple traumatic experiences is also amazing. Even though hes practically a teenager, what would give a normal adult PTSD and uncontrollable mental breakdowns is just another day in the park for him. For example, Rem brutally kills him in a previous episode for basically no good reason, but Subaru's reaction is just so damn underwhelming it's like he's some robot. The animation and voice acting are also very poor when they needed to be the strongest. I don't know this show's budget, but some of the cuts are so horrendously drawn you'd think they drew them in their free-time. Can't forget about the Naruto-tier voice acting. Subaru's voice is getting increasingly more annoying. His voice gets raspy and deep to deliver even the most casual of lines it has gotten to the point where, for me, it downplays all of the show's serious moments. For a show that seems to want to take itself seriously, the characterization(and characters in general) rivals that/those of a low-budget romcom anime. Stupid loli who tries to act mature(Felt), condescending maids(Rem and Ram),'patron of justice'/part-time mom to Subaru(Emilia), and the creepy, elusive(also really damn useless) magician who looks and sounds like he's an identity crisis(Roswald). Oh yeah, they even threw in a trap in there to really seal the deal. Subari himself is nothing more than a black haired Naruto and is your typical shounen character This episode really just did me in. Absolutely 0 improvement from the problems this show was already suffering from. Rem's death seems like a curve ball thrown in there just to bring in people's interest again but will ultimately lead to nothing(just like Charlotte). Wouldn't be surprised if by the time the LN is over everybody is alive again and they all live happily ever after. What a joke of a series and I'm dropping it 4/10 |

There certainly are a lot of questionable things about Roswaal... Another thing that I found strange is that there was a pile of burnt bodies. While I realize that there is more than one fire user, we so far only know of one magic user that can use fire. nightcrawlercyp said: well the witch is dead no? or at least unable to use her powers? I don't believe so... Beatrice said that the witch is unable to be weakened or even die. And the fact that she can cast shinimodri upon Subaru and leave her scent, shows that she can still use her powers. |

What a joke of a series and I'm dropping it 4/10 Much stupidity. facepalms I wouldn't even reply to someone who would give FMA a 10/10. And One Piece a 7/10, the horrendous OVA of Noblesse a 9... Amagi brillant parc and Angel beats a 8... yet give re:zero a 4/10???? What the hell is going on in ths world... (Talking about irels) He gave 8 to Steins;Gate. I was like ''oh okay it might not be really his type of anime'' and then he gave 8 to Mirai Nikki. According to this guy, Mirai Nikki and Steins;Gate are on the same level. That's pretty funny :^) I'm not type to judge others according to their anime list, because mine is only based on enjoyment, but that's a complete joke. |

I liked the old natsuki's non-depressed/un-obsessed personality. But in the words of Harvey Dent "You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain"........Though Natsuki already died....multiple times. |

It's been long that I made that list and gave those scores. It's actually 3 years ago. And I scored based on what I felt about the shows. Enjoyment was at the same level, so I gave same scores. But yeah, I didn't think that much of Steins;Gate. Perhaps I should rewatch sometime. My impression could change... But you see, I gave 9 to Afro Samurai and Psycho-Pass. Those were 'great' to me. This guy thou, is ridiculous. Giving a 4/10. Why'd you even watch what you'd score so low? Such shows I wouldn't even bother to put on a list. ... To SAO I'd give 7. But my personal grudge against it makes want to give it a 6. the protagonist is such a shameless wish fulfillment. But I've dropped at ep 8, when it became clear where it was going... eh. Anyway. |

Subaru is pissing me the fuck off. He's being way to selfish. Something's got to happen to fix his personality, quick. |

I see Subaru has become deranged in thinking his respawns make him the only reliable person to Emilia. There were two routes he could have taken and he took the "It's not my fault. It's everyone else's fault." route. Keep digging that hole Subaru, it'll be deep enough to bury you in sooner or later. I do like how long it took him to register that the entire town was killed. It shows that his deaths are starting to deaden him to even the sight of it. It won't be too long before the sight of a friend's dead body won't even phase him. |
