| And with this...it seems like the Impel Down arc has finally come to an end. And what a hell of a ride it's been. Seriously, as this manga keeps going and going, Oda just keeps on improving on the previous arc. Is there an author like him that does that? No...every other manga (especially shounen) largely falls into the trap of worsening as they extend the plot. But not this story. And man, does my respect just blossom of Bon Clay seeing him in action after this arc. This truly just may be the last time we see him (that is, unless Blackbeard works his behind the scene magic and inadvertently saves him as he escapes ID...because, as we all know, Blackbeard and Shiryuu are definitely going to be coming back into the story down the road. Now the question remains...with only 4 hours remaining till the execution, can Luffy and co. make it in time? |

I think Oda did something absolutely momentous in this chapter: show us a template of how someone dies in One Piece. I mean, this is not like Pell, who many people think miraculously survived. But it wasn't Oda outright 'killing' him, it was that the circumstances made it very unlikely that he survived. But Mr. 2 is different. This chapter is really in most aspects similar to Going Merry's death. Especially with the overall sadness over his death, and Luffy's thanks to go with it. Plus there's the poem celebrating his life. Magellan has been said to use lethal poison, a variety of which would have so single cure. Magellan even asked Bon-Clay if he has any last words. Some people may be wondering if Bon Clay is going to die. I really think he's not. I think he's dead. And his death (and life) is great - if anyone were to die in One Piece, this is how Oda should do it. Lastly, I think this will become one of the major turning points in One Piece, not just in the arc, but in the whole manga. It just seemed such a larger-than-life moment, one with many ramiifications for everyone especially Luffy. One of the best chapters indeed. |

| Even if Bon-chan should be dead, I honestly think that Oda doesn't have the balls to kill off his characters. He even said in one of him interviews that he didn't like killing off his main characters. Pell should have died, he took a fucking bomb intended to kill 5km of town, took a direct hit from it, and lived. That still pisses me off even now. |
| ^^ Pell should have died, given the circumstances, but Oda never killed him off like he did to Bon-chan in this chapter. If Bon-chan doesn't die, then it's definite Oda will never kill anyone off. |

| I don't think the arc is over just yet. Because they left the gaol doesn't mean they're through. Oda even said so on the final page: "But the Impel Down incident didn't end there." I'm guessing that Clay is going to find some way out (because Oda doesn't believe in killing off characters, even villains. He even said he prefers for the villains to live and witness their own dreams being shattered by the heroes). But what a way to bid farewell to Bon Clay. *salute* For the Okama Way. |

| ^^ Yeah you're right. But Luffy is out of the prison, so Impel Down arc is over (like water 7). Those things can happen later. |
