I don't know why some seem proud not having friends or being forever alone. Isn't that fucking sad? I understand not being in a relationship since it requires some lovey dovey magic but not having friends in this lifetime, is that even possible? |

I don't take pride in it. I just don't want friends or people to talk to me at all in real life for that matter. You may view it as sad, but I view it as peace. |

I think most of them are mainly just trying to make light of their situation, and find comfort in the fact there's other people just like them all over the world. Last few years I've been pretty damn close to being a complete shut in, besides work(which I got laid off from, and now since I can't seem to get a job without someone handing me one I've been having a lot of trouble finding work and live with my family again...) Which caused me to be even more of a shut in... Surprisingly I wasn't exactly a nerdy kid in highschool(I wasn't exactly popular, but I knew and hung out with some of the popular crowd), I did a lot of partying and got in tons of trouble(I'm not going to go into it cause it will sound like I'm bragging, and I hate when people brag about what I'm talking about). Just for some reason when I stopped that lifestyle I started to find I really don't like to be around people, and have pretty bad anxiety. At least I got laid and had a few girlfriends before becoming a recluse...Now all I need is a nice cabin in the woods, internet access, electricity, self sustainable food,...fuck |

OT: if you know what an introvert is, then you should know that this has been around for longer than the internet. I don't like socialising. I have friends, but I rarely ever talk to them anymore (they're in Maldives anyways). I prefer to speak face to face rather than through the internet and I prefer a computer to humans (I don't think much of humans, you see and Maldivians don't really help much to mend that thought). Still, I do socialise, but that's more of a rare event for me. |

Wait, how do you know it's sad for them? Do you read minds? That's the funny part in people's mentality. "Oh, he's so lonely, look at him, I would never like to be so lonely." What the fuck is wrong with you people? If somebody is lonely, he'll actually say it or try and do something about it unless he has a mental problem. But DON'T EVER think that somebody has a mental problem because he DOES NOT have a so-called "social life". Thinking of their own life, their own problems then thinking that they're the same for everybody else. You should do whatever you want, as long as you are happy, fuck everybody else up. |

In my case I'm 23 and most of my friends are getting married and even becoming fathers. So they don't have time to hang out. I find it phatetic to fill that friend-hole with a girlfriend, like: Oh I feel alone imma get a girl, lol. And I'm not planing to get married any time soon. It's part of becoming an adult. Now I prefer to stay on the internet than in a noisy party, I already had my fair amount of wildness in collegue. |

Yeah, it's possible. It's better to not have friends in a few ways, one being when one side dies, the other side will feel depressed and sad. Does this tragic feeling outweigh the great times you have with them? Dunno. I just want to have fun. How I want fun depends on my mood. |

It's called cognitive dissonance. People realize their shitty situation, but are too lazy or don't have the will to do something about it. So they decide to rationalize it, and change their thinking so that it's not a negative situation any more. Same behavior can be seen with smokers. They realize it's destroying their body. But it's ok, because "I don't care", or "it helps me sleep", or "I get headaches without it", or whatever else excuses people use to rationalize the destruction of their own body. Psychology 101. |
