PJ Harvey - Is This Desire?

10/10 One of my top favorite albums.

The Wind

Listened to that again yesterday! Catherine is my favourite from it.

Jesus and Mary Chain - Psychocandy

Psychocandy is a great album too.

Currently listening to:

CLAMS - CLAMS

Fairly obscure Japanese shoegaze. It seems their physical albums are almost impossible to find at this point. It's pretty good stuff. I'd give this at least a 6 or 7 out of 10.

St. Vincent - s/t

Her worst other than Love This Giant. Not terrible by any means, but I've come to expect so much more from her after Actor and Strange Mercy. The album takes a serious nosedive during the second half. 7/10.

Still seeing her at the end of the month, hyped af.

I'd give that like 7.5-8, her voice is good for shoegaze ^^

(you might like this, it's beyond obscure Japanese shoegaze http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X48VETWDwfw)

Last album I listened too was Seefeel - Quique. the last two tracks are really calming.

Best album I've heard so far that has been released in 2014. Before this, I listened to The Fray's Helios album, and it was such a disappointment compared to their last album, Scars and Stories, which has a lot more substance than Helios.

Not bad album, but not so "Awesome" either. I really like A7x, but this album just don't give me the same feeling as Nightmare or Waking the Fallen. Waited a little bit more from this album. Tho, It's not a money waste. ^^

They're great (and underrated)! I recommend to check out their live album Space Ritual; easily one of my favorite prog/space rock albums.

Avatarium - Avatarium

Inspired by traditional doom metal in the vein of Black Sabbath. Avatarium was founded pretty recently by the songwriter/bassist of Candlemass. They released their debut album last year. I'd give this a 7 or so out of 10.

A band with Deftones' singer Chino, they're an electronic-experimental rock band (really different of Deftones' sound) but I really enjoyed their work!
It has some incredible tracks as "1994" or" Option", a great instrumental part and the amazing voice of Chino. Highly recommended!!

This isn't exactly an album because it dates from a time when albums, as we understand them today, didn't really exist, and it wouldn't have been distributed in that form anyway.

I've recently looked to the past to find some very good music with hilarious lyrics. In the late 1930s/early 1940s, Joseph Goebbels, the Minister of Propaganda in Nazi Germany, organized a swing band to broadcast propaganda to the enemy. The band was called "Charlie and His Orchestra." I've encountered their recordings in the past, but I recently found that a very good collection has been posted to YouTube. I won't post a link here since these videos tend to move around over time, but anyone who searches for them can easily find them. Of course, this material may still be considered sensitive in Germany, and it has plenty of offensive content, but it is hard to take it seriously, and it is historically interesting.

The band is actually quite good; Germany had a good many accomplished jazz musicians at the time. The lyrics, however, have to be heard to be believed. Usually, the singer, Karl Schwedler, who is reasonably talented, sings the first verse with the original lyrics, but subsequent verses are changed; they include some of the funniest propaganda lyrics I have heard. Apparently, Winston Churchill was a fan because the lyrics were so funny.

I suppose we owe Herr Goebbels our thanks for providing such a good band to entertain the allied troops who worked so hard to defeat Nazi Germany. The music is great, and the lyrics are unintentionally funny. Even today, the music of Charlie and His Orchestra is a good example of the style of the swing era, and I think fans of this style would enjoy the music while laughing at the idiotic lyrics.
It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

Since one of my roommates insisted on it and in order for me to broaden my Cradle of Filth experience beyond just two songs ("For Those Who Died" and "The Death of Love"), I listened to Cruelty and the Beast.

Nice piece, but I can see why many people are crying out for a remaster. The drums are pretty fucking blah. Otherwise, I liked it.
