Hi! My name is Laci. I enjoy anime, sleeping, food, video games, relaxing, Lego building and all kinds of different stuff. I like to make friends, and chat with them as much as I can which is one reason why I came to this site. I'm also on Skype if you ever want to chat.
✿ My Disabilities ✿
I became a paraplegic and I became mute when I was just 3 years old. My mom and dad and I were in the car, and my mom was driving the car at the time. The roads were very slippery due to all the snow and ice here in Canada during the winters. Anyways, a distracted driver was not paying attention to the road, and he collided into my mom`s car on the driver`s side of the car. I was sitting behind my mom and I was knocked out. My mom and dad made it out with only some minor scrapes and bruises. Anyways, my mom called the police and an ambulance. As soon as the ambulance came, my mom and dad put me in it, and my mom stayed with me. My dad talked with the police and reported everything that happened. When my mom and I got to the hospital, I was rushed in the E.R and I had many, many surgeries on my back (my spine). I still have the scars on my back to this day. The doctors told my mom that I suffered a spinal cord injury, and that I`ll never be able to walk or talk. After about 1 week, I finally woke up in the hospital, and being 3 at the time, I had no idea what was going on, so I just kind of laid in my hospital bed. After a few weeks passed, I was sent to a children`s hospital just minutes away. That`s where I spent most of my childhood. By the time I was old enough, my nurse explained everything that happened, and of course, I did begin to cry. I remember that everything was very overwhelming so it was natural for me to cry. My nurse took very good care of me over the years, and she cheered me up whenever I needed her. I stayed at that hospital for about 6 years. My nurse was like a second mom to me. She took care of me, and she entertained me and she made me feel very happy. She taught me how to use my wheelchair, and she taught me everything about living as a paraplegic and as a mute person. Because of her, I`m currently studying to become a nurse. I left the children`s hospital when I was 9 years old. My nurse was my teacher too for like, education like math and reading and stuff like that. When I left, I was able to be like everyone else, and go to a public school. I was really excited at first, but it was the worst time of my life. Everyone bullied me because I was `different`and that I need my wheelchair to move and I need to use sign language because I can't speak. No one wanted to be my friend. Not one person. After that horrible experience was over, I decided that I wanted to be homeschooled. My mom taught me over the years through 6th grade all the way to my Senior year in high school. I got my diploma in November of 2013. Now, I`m currently keeping contact with my nurse I had, and we get together and she teaches me everything about being a nurse. I get to visit her too, and I love seeing her. She always tells me how much I've grown up. I may not be able to walk or talk, but nothing is impossible. Many many people put me down and bullied me (I still get bullied to this day.), but I have learned to ignore them and to focus on the people that truly loves and cares about me. As of 2014, I'm no longer using a wheelchair, and now I permanently use a rollator (A walker on wheels) My message to you, is that if you ever feel like you have the worst life, just remember this: Some people in this world has it worse than you do. I hope I have educated you a little bit about my story, and remember to never, ever give up.
