My questions are :

1. How many spend on DVD every month ?
2. Do you need buy all anime DVD ?
3. When you buy anime DVD, it make you feel Otaku ? (because i noticed some people is buy many of DVD or watch anime all time and they say they became Otaku)

In my option,

1. I only buy Best anime DVD. I not need buy any rubbish anime DVD.
2. I won't watch all anime because i have a life !
3. I am not Otaku because I have various Hobbes.

Sorry if i any make you upset.

1. I spend however much it takes to keep up on new releases. Last couple months I've tracked were about $1300 to $1400 per.

2. Yes, mostly. The collection cannot be completed if I don't. However, I don't feel a need to obtain every version of every anime so in that sense I don't feel a push to obtain every anime release ever.

3. Really depends on what you mean by "feel Otaku". To a certain extent I feel like even without the purchasing of anime on DVD I would still feel like the label appropriately applies? I would just be downloading instead of purchasing....

1. Roughly $80
2. If I have the slightest urge to rewatch a show, I'll probably buy it. I bought Lucky Star on DVD even though I didn't really like the show. I'll also buy it if I want to see the English dub or if I find it at a cheap price
3. I'm just a normal guy who plays guitar and likes to watch cute girls eat cake

1. I'll usually pick up a DVD every week or two, so around $40-$50
2. It's not really that necessary, but having a physical collection is much
more rewarding than having a bunch of anime stacked up on a HDD.

ummm

as much as i can
i try not to get tragic, romance, love triangle, sad anime
i wouldn't say otaku cause otaku buys the models, posters, manga, anime games, and collect anime dvds

i only collect anime dvds, if i brought all the above i wouldn't have any room and no cash to be my dvds

1) $0

I'm 17, still unemployed and never really pass the thought or want to ask my parents to buy me anime DVD's

Once I get a job and money, I obviously do plan to buy anime DVD's and manga (I actually planned it since like , 14 or 15 years old)
I'm only gonna buy my favorite animes that I consider worth to buy ... I guess to rewatch them, and collection but mostly because their my favorite anime. The BONUS would be that I might be supporting the anime by buying its DVD's
but they're mostly for myself because I'd feel satisfied, like some kind of pride? accomplishment? To have my favorite animes from my money in a organized shelf ^^

I already consider myself a mid-case Otaku by just watching and reading anime/manga everyday when I can and being organized with my list of animes I was watching before I came to MAL on paper.

Just because someone has a big hobby that isn't physical activity, I still have dreams and goals
I hate it when people say anything about someone not having a life, I take it in a (my vocab is limited) way because the way I see it is
"Its impossible for someone to not have a life since were all living, aren't we?"
okay? stupid ... =P

1. £0-350. It varies too much. Then again, most of my purchases have been backlog stuff, of which I've now got most of the readily obtainable stuff of that I actually want. Which means that from now I'll mainly be limited to getting new stuff when it comes out. There's not exactly much that I'm looking forward to out of the stuff I know to be coming next year though.
2. All? No. Why would I buy something I have neither seen nor intend to ever see?
3. No.

1. I bundle my BDs 2 or 3 vols at a time making it impossible to calculate it monthly and in some cases like Idolmaster, nearly the entire set in one order, there are also seasons where I don't buy anime.

2. Nope only get 1-3 anime per season if I'm willing to buy, I only buy anime I like for collector's sake these days anyway.

3. Can't be an otaku, I'm from the US, not of Japanese ancestry, and have other hobbies and talent, I'm an importer/collector.

1. €0. I only buy manga. Just about every anime I would buy isn't available on DVD and the ones that are available are expensive as fuck.
2. If a series I really enjoyed came out e.g Hunter X hunter then I wouldn't see an issue with buying it up. As long as the price is decent
3. Nope. I buy something because I want it, I shouldn't feel bad about my likes I guess. I would feel like a bit of a creep buying some of the really otaku/weeaboo stuff e.g those waifu pillows, but I'm not into that sort of thing.

1. I don't buy DVDs very often. Though, at my first convention I bought Fruits Basket (LOVE the series, so not a waste), Spice and Wolf (Wanted to watch it), and ordered Clannad series on eBay for cheaper. So, in the last month I spent about... maybe $130. The last time I bought an anime DVD spare that was Kanon 2006 for fifteen dollars back in July.

2. No. But sometimes I buy on urge, but not often.

3. 0.o No. But it does make me feel pleased when I find my favorite series. Like, I was so ecstatic to find the Collector's Edition of Fruits Basket just because it's my favorite manga series and one of my favorite "classic shojo" shows.

The definition of Otaku is a person who is passionate about their hobbies. It does NOT refer to anime specifically, but to any and all passionate hobbies. It's amusing when people use words in which they have no idea of their meanings.

As one of the few people who are willing and able to spend money, I'll jump in.

1. I spend roughly $50 per month and definitely no more than $100. Because I mostly buy from Right Stuf and they have a minimum order amount for free shipping to Canada, that means I only buy once every few months.

2. I only buy things that I've enjoyed or that make me think. Sometimes, rarely, there's a title that I know that I'll like and I buy that too.

3. I buy for two reasons: One is that I want to keep a good-quality hard copy on hand in case a stream is suddenly unavailable or a North American licence is pulled. The other is that I'm basically voting with my wallet. I know what I like and I know that this is an effective way to let distributors know that more of this type of thing is wanted. It has nothing to do with being otaku.

Not every month, but since I'm working on MTurk I'll be able to buy more than just on my birthday and Christmas. When I do buy something its usually $60 on my birthday or when I use a gift card on Christmas $90 on a couple boxsets.

I only buy series I loved or if they are old cheap singles that are $4~$7 at a market somewhere.

No it don't I just support series I really care.

2. No. I mostly fansub, but I buy what I like.
3. No. Otaku are people who are obsessed with one particular hobby, such as anime. Their life revolves around it. I'm more of a casual fan.
