Of course an anime with less than 30 episodes, or do you think a person who has never watched anime will watch one piece or any of the big 3?
I started with Death Note, but depends on the person, if they like romance give they romance, or give then Steins;Gate that mix everything.

Death Note is a good choice, but I showed it to my roommate who I got to watch a lot of anime with me already and he got kinda bored of it at around 12 or whatever eps in and hasn't finished it yet. He was watching the dub (which is horrible imo), so there's that. I am now getting him to watch my favorite show of all time, Steins;Gate (subbed), and he's loving it; he's only 8 or so eps in, too.

But I wouldn't recommend either of those, personally. Death Note has its fair share of problems and shouldn't have been 37 episodes, and Steins;Gate has some themes in it that I had to explain to my roommate (moe culture took a while to explain, for instance).

Honestly, Sword Art Online, in my opinion, is a great one to show. Mainly for guys who have played MMOs before. Even the guy in my suite who hates anime was interested in it.

For a more general anime, I'd say Clannad + After Story. Yeah, it's a time investment, but I think its appeal is pretty big. And to say it's worth the time is a massive understatement.

Depends on what they like...

If it were my dad, Black Lagoon would have him hooked.

My best friend probably Toradora.

My sister it would be Gintama, even if she wouldn't get the references she would love the stupid humor.

Probably Cowboy Bebop or Black Lagoon. Something with a decent dub (since most people dislike subtitles) and names they can pronounce.

Ghibli movies are also pretty good. I had a couple of friends who didn't watch anime but loved them. I think Redline might also be a good choice for some people.

Best anime to show ur friends to get them into anime

The best anime to show friends is anime that matches their unique tastes and hopefully without a whole lot of hype such as "you're gonna luv dis" or "best anime evah" hoopla.

Yes this, never hype up the show too much, if it doesn't live up to their expectations it will seem worse and they won't value your input as much.

I agree with this one a lot.

But for those who already have an idea of what they want to start there friend off with then that is a bit different.

I usually always suggest things like slayers, tenchi, or even ranma 1/2 since the plots aren't that hard to follow.

For a friend of mine who is getting back into anime the first show I had showed her in a long time was Ninja Nonsense and she loved it. Now she's got an account with Crunchyroll and I hope to buy her the ah my goddess series since she is a fan of that as well.
