| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- that was a pretty entertaining adventure. what was with all the ecchi / random porn mags appearing out the blue though? :) That wasn't the fanservice I was anticipating. I liked the disco scene it was pretty ridiculous, and from there on the film stayed fun throughout though I started getting a bit of battle fatigue towards the end and expected the plot to develop a bit more (seemed like I was waiting for the double-cross to be revealed for a full hour, and little happened plotwise inbetween - and it wasn't much of a double-cross). Got Star Wars vibes in certain set pieces every so often but not in a cheap rip-off way. Anyway I liked it. A few things I didn't get - - in the sewers Joe found the body of Valentinos. Who was he again? - here's my proof! *shoots wall* police come in and no-one needs proof after all? oh well~ Also, hello Dirty Pair |
| I liked it. Nothing outstanding, nor very bad. Overall good and enjoyable movie to watch. Blackouting said: And Mughi :-)Also, hello Dirty Pair It was quite surprising to see them :-) It seems they got really famous and a movie about them was made :-) |

| ... Enjoyment: 4/5 Score: 7.5+/10 @Blackouting Valentinos was the pirate who tricked Joe in the beginning of this whole affair. @Cnon I have some fears about the OAVs. I was always fond of golden era OAVs but those seem to be othing more than a failed attempt to capitalize on the movie's success without anything that made it actually that good. |

Yes most of the old ovas are hit and miss but there are some good ones out there. Umezu Kazuo no noroi was great for example and crusher Joe ova is good too watch it you won't be dissappointed. |

| This was a really solid and entertaining film. The animation was beautiful throughout and the soundtrack at times was fantastic. I watched the film with the English dub and it was also pretty good. This film reminded me alot of Starchaser - The Legend of Orin, which is an American made film that came out a couple of years later. While Starchaser wore its Star Wars inspiration on its sleeve in Crusher Joe its not fair to say it was overly inspired by it though there are certain character dynamics and action in this film that certainly reminded me of Star Wars. Both films have a similar flair and design. I'd recommend Starchaser if you enjoyed Crusher Joe. I watched this film (and plan to watch the OVAs tomorrow) as part of my Dirty Pair marathon and I enjoyed the cameo of the girls in the Drive-in scene, it was really interesting to see earlier versions of the characters since the Movie pre-dates any of the Anime stuff for Dirty Pair. Kei looked quite different and Yuri had black hair instead of Blue. Crusher Joe is a great 80's Anime film with a good solid cast that was easy to get into and the humor was alot of fun. Add to that the stellar Animation and it was an all round great time. Though maybe alittle long I guess at 132 minutes. |
| great movie, highly entertaining and the themes tackled were too ahead for it's time. music was amazing too and the art and animation was solid. movies like this is why I got into anime back in the day, can't wait to see the ovas. |
