| Jigoku Shoujo is not by any means the most scary, but it's quite disturbing in some ways. Great watch imo; I normally hate episodic anime but Jigoku Shoujo really sucked me in. Same with the Kara no Kyoukai movies. Not scary but it's pretty dark around the type of stuff you're looking for. Seconding Another and Rainbow. |

(some good gore, but mostly focuses on story, but it has a great story) Hellsing Ultimate Blood Reign:Curse of the Yoma Kino no Tabi(only a few episodes are really "disturbing" though) Texhnolyze Kara no Kyoukai Mardock Scramble Mononoke and Ayakashi: Classic Horror stories Aoi Bungaku |

I mean they have no real merit except for shock value (which isn't meritorious at all). Would much rather watch something disturbing that has an actual interesting plot, dialogue etc. This is coming from someone who genuinely likes horror and disturbing movies/anime/books etc. I just feel like there is a line that shouldn't be crossed that is being crossed more often these days. I've read about A Serbian Film and I honestly can't imagine why anyone would want to see that disgusting pedophilic garbage. And the pathetic excuse the director used for making the film was blatantly a bunch of bullshit. If someone actually enjoys that movie I myself would wonder if they might have serious issues they need to work out perhaps through counceling. |

| I don't know about anyone else but I found Claymore to be quite frightening. Maybe it's because I was half passed out though while watching it lol. While I've only seen the 1st ep, Berserk looks like something that might be "scary" (I've heard of blood and gore) A lot of people recommend Higurashi, I haven't seen it because I heard something about maggots (and I don't like maggots eek! >.<) but if you like creepy children, go for it. Deadman Wonderland was a bit disturbing at times, so I say try that. Hmm.. Blood-C (which is one of my favs) is VERY VERY VEEEEERY gory. Honestly it's incredibly disturbing to the point that I cringed and even covered my eyes once. While a lot of people don't care for it I found it to be very good, which tons of plot twists. If you like ecchi try Freezing. I found the Nova (huge freakin' aliens!) to be creepy. Also, Mnemosyne had some cringe-worthy scenes involving piercings and eating people. LOL it's really interesting though, however it's borderline hentai so if you don't want that, I would steer clear. |
