I just lose interest over the week. Completed is the way to go. That said, I will watch airing shows if they're engaging and I have no choice.

I prefer completed, though every now and then I will get sucked into a really good on-going series and well.. yeah, one thing leads to another.

I prefer nothing :I I like doing both :I

Airing ones keep me on edge every week (at least the GOOD ones) and also keep me so lil busy that I don't mind continuing an anime that turned out to be something I don't like since it's 20 mins per week. But it can feel so slow sometimes.

Completed ones are so nice also, watching everything right away and feel satisfied in the end. I tend to finish them asap though which is nice on one hand but on the other, they finish so fast. Plus, the downside is that you can't rly talk abt it with someone much. I like coming here or talk with my friends abt a week's epi. Most of the time, completed ones are watched in silence :I

So yeah, I like doing both and I'd give up none xD

The more extreme one, for me, is to wait months, possible even years, to wait for a goddamn chapter or volume of a particular manga. After that huge time gap, I usually forget what I read in the last chapter(s). It's so annoying that I have to read the last chapter to know what's gonna happen in the next chapter that recently came out. Well, the important things do get repeated every once in a while in manga series as past-acts or thoughts but that doesn't help much. At the end of the day, I still have to read it.

As for waiting a week's time to watch another episode of an anime, it's fine by me. Having said that, I still do consider watching something in a go more than watching an episode each week.

depends!
sometimes its better to watch ongoing anime but its a pain catching up with them-also with completed anime you can take your time watching and be in no rush.
waiting for an episode or manga chapter is also quite painful
especially when its a manga - there are so little pages and it kils to finnish them in less than 10 minutes when use waited for ages!!

i do both
a lot of the awesome anime are completed! so theres no choice there

I prefer watching completed anime.
However, if I really like a series, and it's not yet completed, I'm not gonna wait or anything. :P

I'm constantly torn apart between wanting to marathon through series, yet still wanting to discuss on going series. In the end, I just do both.

With all of the completed series that I have on my PTW I simply don't have time to watch ongoing series. That being said, I eventually plan on doing so.

I've never had a problem with watching ongoing series but, as many have said, it can be trying at times to wait for a new episode :c

Reasons I like watching currently airing shows:

  1. It's fun to participate in the MAL anime series discussions.
  2. I watch more series this way. Sometimes I just don't have the time to marathon
  3. I watch TV when it's airing, I've been watching airing stuff all my life, why not anime?
  4. Being able to finish five series in one day is beyond fun.
  5. It feels like I'm not making as much as a commitment. Watching just one episode a week doesn't take a lot of time.
  6. I'm a LITTLE more forgiving with the currently airing stuff I watch. So I'm less likely to drop something.

What many others have said doesn't make sense. TV shows are meant to be watched when they are currently airing. The convenience of completed sets, reruns, and syndication happen after the initial airing of all TV shows. Going "It's hard to watch a weekly TV show because of new episodes." is absurd.

It's not about how it's meant to be watched. It's in how we watch it. As anime viewers, we especially are used to watching episode after episode in a completed series. Being able to watch only one episode per week can be not so much difficult as it is somewhat painful with cliffhangers and the like. Which is why there are people who wait for a series to complete before watching it.

But it is about how it's meant to be watched as weekly broadcasts is the preferred mean for both viewers and content producers. Having a completed show is convenient but coming in months, sometimes years after the initial airing of a show drastically reduces the impact it had when it was airing week to week. Personally preferring to marathon everything doesn't change those facts. Cliffhangers are a tool meant to encourage watching it on a week to week. I imagine that Lost would lose a lot of it's impact without fans being able to have the watercooler discussions about the end of one week's episode and speculation of the next. Not liking cliffhangers and treating them as detrimental to enjoyment is counter to how cliffhangers are generally regarded.

I would rather wait for the anime to be completed before I watch it. It gets annoying to have to wait for new episodes to come out. By that time I usually forget I'm watching the anime and move onto something else.

I'm too impatient so I can't just wait for a season to end and then watch the anime I wanted to watch. I think watching on-going definitely has more impact on me than just marathoning it. Watching on-going makes me more attached to the anime. And yes, good cliffhangers are awesome and keep you thinking about it throughout the week. One last thing - a new episode is an awesome thing to look forward to in a week!

I prefer watching after they're completed.
I usually wait 'till the anime is completed before watching, like I did with Another and how I'm doing with lots of my other PTW.

Once its Completed, anime marathon is fun. :D
watching one episode per week is such a pain in the A- for me. Cliffhangers bother me. :))))

I almost always watch an anime after completion, as I treat an anime series much like an extended film - and a week-long delay really dulls the enjoyment. That said, I have a lot of free time to support this habit.

I don't mind watching an airing anime, but I do prefer to watch an anime that already is completed and marathon, because I sometimes can't wait for the next episode.

The suspense is killing me sometimes!

Used to be both...

Waiting for a new episode every week gives you something to look forward to, which helps you forget all the bad shit that's going on in your life.

Now I always wait for the series to be completed because I enjoy them more this way.

I dont know if you just go around every thread being a twat on purpose just to piss people off, but it isnt at all about how its meant to be watched this whole thread is about peoples opinions. some people dont like waiting for 1 episode once a week however "absurd" you may think it to be.

I would personally prefer watching 3 episodes a week. 1 episode just feels too little. Alas, reality ensues.

it is actually a lot less tiring to watch an airing anime then to marathon an anime
i mean i probably would have dropped hyouka and hagure if it didn't move at a nice leisurely pace that makes me hard pressed to hate it

I absolutely freakin' loathe watching an airing series. Even with One Piece my favorite anime I always wait until the next Arc is completely finished so that I can marathon. I find most series (for me) are more enjoyable when you can just marathon and take it all in within 1-3 days.

However they're some really really good ones like Mushishi, Aria, Natsume Yuujinchou, GinTama, those type of series are great to watch at a leisurely pace. Though to me I'd rather watch 1-3 episodes a day of series like that then just 1 little episode per week. It would be different if they were like live action TV series with 45 minute episodes.

I usually watch completed anime series. I just don't have the attention span and commitment to keep waiting a week for a new episode.

Depends on the show. Some shows are more entertaining if you watch them once a week, and some are more entertaining if you watch them more often. There's also the charm of never knowing what will happen or what the show will be about (example: Madoka).

I prefer to watch completed series. One episode is too short so I like to marathon my anime episodes. but I still watch ongoing ones though.
