It was a really good fight but the ending to the race felt like a cop out. It didn’t seem like Takashi did anything special to win. He should have knocked the other guy down or show that a hit caused the other guy’s mech to slow down. There was also too much down time after the race.

This episode was awesome in my opinion, loved the fighting scenes then a photo shot to end the race/season, thought that they really mixed well...

Good stuff. I really enjoyed this series, and it brought back some good memories from when it was on Toonami.

I really hope Takashi's romance with Liz kicks off next season. She's so awesome.

I give IGPX an 8/10.

Pretty open ending making room for the second season but all in all this first season was pretty lovely, while the start wasn't the best and also the reason I postponed this anime but in the end it sure was nice! Let's see what the second season will offer next!

The characters and their interactions/relations really won me over for this series. Female team director, martial artist Liz (my fave), a smart but quiet and classy ojousan, a laid-back mc who still has a desire to win, a high class harvard graduate as a low-key mechanic, and coach who turned out to be a celeb. I enjoyed them all and the side characters too! I also like that despite having two girls as teammates, it's hardly romantic and rather, friendly. Heck, the mc got a girlfriend from an opposing team!

You could also sense character's problems, but it was never melodramatic and irritating to watch. In fact, it was fun watching them all overcome their challenges. Felt oddly realistic - River and Takeshi's rivalry (on River's end more), and how River ultimately left the team to join another and remain on good terms with everyone. Opposing teams were not enemies, but opponents.

I agree that the win didn't feel that climatic, but I don't mind too much. :)

Honestly, this anime was pretty good. I actually really like these characters and the animation actually gave them a life that made them feel unique. Movements aren't generic and are usually a little more specific to each person. I was mostly watching the dub, and geez the amount of time they put into making these characters just as unique in English was some god-tier work. Most characters didn't really sound like... a character, but instead the voices were just at that good point of character yet cartoony yet not too real for animation. I can tell they spent a lot of time with this dub. What a great cast! And I mentioned how I liked seeing Liz and Amy just chilling and being teammates before, but I do want to say it's honestly been such a treat to see them just speak to each other like friends more and more as the anime went on. Things didn't feel completely superficial and instead everything came off as more honest. I thought we'd have some bs with Liz being super jealous and blah blah drama-- we didn't! And gosh was it refreshing! We got the really cute Liz and Luca scene instead. Overall, I really enjoyed my time watching this anime. I thought I wouldn't be too interested in it since I wasn't too interested in it as a kid.

Thankfully, we got some interesting development, actual good or at least interesting characters, nice animation, and so on. While I don't always think the Toonami soundtrack fit, it was honestly really chill. ...I'm actually really surprised and impressed by Toonami's involvement. The lengths they took to try to get IGPX to appeal to the Western audience during a time when companies were still not sold on the idea of anime as an actual money-maker is seriously impressive. They tried so much and put so much heart into it. I feel really good about this anime. I'm walking away happy.
