Can You Still Watch An Anime If The Ending Was Spoiled?

So as the title says, are you able to continue watching a series, if someone (or something) spoiled the series for you? For example, reading episode summaries, or seeing only small portions of a series? Or at the very least, felt that the Anime wasn't good as it would've been if you didn't hear the ending?

For me, I really just couldn't watch the rest of Fruits Basket after hearing that
other than that, I've never quite felt bad about watching the rest of a series. ^^

Argh I hate it when an anime is spoiled for me. Especially if it spoils a character's death. X(

I find it really hard to enjoy an anime if it's spoiled for me.

Yes I can. Even if you know something critical, there are so many ways things can unfold, and so many ways to get the part that got spoiled.

yep, I learned the ending of code geass, and still enjoyed it immensely. Good thing I thought no way that was going to happen when I first found out. Spoiler tags for youtube, please.

i suppose it depends on how relevant the ending is compared to the anime's buildup. series that pretty much rely on the audience's curiosity throughout the entire show are more likely to be enjoyed less if it has been spoiled for other people. say for example Death Note or Code Geass, in which we can plainly see the conflict from the very beginning of these shows and the ending is just a summation of whether or not the protagonist succeeds. suspense is another major factor and I think anime with very unexpected or surprising endings are also less enjoyable if they are spoiled. Puella Magi Madoka Magica and School Days fall into this category.

of course, if it's a good series that you'd like to watch you should probably just watch it anyways. you can still enjoy a show even if it's been spoiled. me personally, I'd still watch a show I looked forward to even if it were spoiled. knowing the outcome generally doesn't affect my viewing experience, since as I've stated before, you can still enjoy something even if you know what comes next. but I still try not to get spoiled since it does take away some enjoyability. and I've gotten pretty good at dodging spoilers.

So far, I haven't stopped watching an anime despite knowing a spoiler, regardless of its importance.

I accidentally read a Youtube comment about Clannad AS that

Even the Netflix episode descriptions gave away something about the story. It indirectly gave away the fact that

It was pretty easy to tell what would happen from previous events.

When I was watching Code Geass, I youtube'd "Lelouch" (Don't do this if you're not done) and before I could finish typing one of the first auto completes was

Also, more importantly from Code Geass, the youtube search said

A friend told me that, in Cowboy Bebop,

Yeah. Same with RPG games. If someone spoils the ending/parts of what happen in the future before I get there, I don't go near the series or game for a couple days or weeks so I can forget, then go straight back to playing/watching.

Unless my mom tells me about it, then I won't be able to let it go.

I read spoilers for Madoka Magica back when I didn't think I would ever watch it...I still loved the show, but it didn't make as big of an impact on me because I already knew the ending.

But for Code Geass, even though I knew of
, I still enjoyed the series and it still made me cry.

It really just depends on the show, and the length of the show.

If its an series I'm enjoying and would like to see the ending myself and someone spoils it then there is a high chance I would drop it or put it on hold for a few months. Cause whats the point in watching something if someone spoils the ending in detail and talks about the events that lead up to it?

It pisses me more when people tell me who dies especially my favorite characters like recently when my friend told me on purpose too.

Mirai Nikki

He knows I hate spoilers that involves a death of a character especially if its one I'm obsessing over. He can be such a douche sometimes. >_> Well next time he ruins a single thing for me on purpose especially a character death I'll just spoil ever chapter of his beloved manga until it ends. lol karma. *evil grin*

As for Mirai Nikki I'll put it on hold for a couple more weeks before deciding to continue it cause luckily the rest hasn't been spoiled for me. So I have no idea outside of what I put in the spoiler will happen next.

yes, i do, but it's not as enjoyable

when something gets spoiled while i'm already partway through the series, i still watch it because i try to finish whatever i start. but the whole time i'll be in denial and i'll try to make myself believe that i never saw the spoiler Dx but that makes me nervous throughout the rest of the series

for example, in clannad afterstory, i read a comment that said

and i literally told my friend (who had already seen the series) "tell me this doesn't actually happen and make it very convincing so that i actually believe you!"
it really just made me even more internally conflicted though, haha

NEVER READ THE COMMENTS on youtube, etc.

and if a series that i havent seen gets spoiled for me, it's usually not significant enough for me to still remember by the time i actually watch it (unless it was highly anticipated)

Doesn't really matters to me as long as the "journey" to the end was good.

An example would be who won between to two main guys. I knew the answer before hand but I still enjoyed it as how one of them was able to overcome the other was much more interesting.

I can, but it takes so much out of the surprise really. I once searched YouTube for "epic scenes in anime" or something like that, and there was like a top 5 or top 10 and I watched it even though I didn't watch the shows that those scenes came from. The shows that got spoiled for me were

Clannad AS

Code Geass R2

and Death Note

Really depends on how I was spoiled. The thing for me, though, is that most anime endings are either cliche or just plain meh, so that's not that big of a deal. I tend to enjoy getting to the ending more than the ending itself. But sometimes a thorough spoiler can still be pretty shitty.

The vast majority of my favorite series have been spoiled in some capacity such as (and these are BIG spoilers so don't click unless you have seen these series):

NGE

Utena:

LoGH

One Piece

Clannad After Story

Suffice to say, these spoilers didn't hamper my enjoyment in any way for these series. But, I'd rather avoid spoilers if possible.

Okay maybe i'm the ONLY one...but I don't really care about spoilers that much...

So, say I randomly come across a comment that mentions someone died in a show I'm watching. I don't get mad and say "why did they say that!?" I get interested! I don't know the circumstances of their death or what lead up to it, so that's part of what's so awesome and get's me either excited or sad for what will happen.

But either way, it makes me want to watch / catch up even more!

But there were some exceptions like Xam'd: Lost Memories, Angel Beats!, Shiki, Senjou no Valkyria: Gallian Chronicles and some more that I watched, despite knowing what will happen.

I'll still watch though it wouldn't really feel the same as watching a series fresh. Also, if someone talks about a series then has a spoiler tag (for instance in this thread) then you could already assume that someone has died or something so technically you're already being spoiled. At least for me anyways...
