My Zen player at college. No-one handed it in. Which pissed me off considering the amount of things I found and then handed in. Karma my arse!

I also remember losing a gameboy by leaving it on the bus. That was ages ago.

@VoiceWithin: Ouch. I lapse into despair when I lose a tenner. That's all I can say. :(
Your search on "Oran Solus" returned the following quotes:
"Oran Solus? I know him. What a wanker. He still owes me a tenner." Oscar Wilde
"Oran, you're so intelligent and awesome <3" Bakayaro
"Oran's sexy." LolitaDecay
"Oran is a sophisticated penguin." Drybananna
"Oran is a Hand-Eye you faggots." EddieSpaghetti
"Oran for Prime Minister." the_prime_one

I almost lost my Livescribe Pulse Pen at college last week. Slipped out of my buttoned pocket. Fortunately, I checked at the desk and someone had turned it in. Ah, nice to know that there are good people around.

Otherwise, I'm usually careful about my things, expensive or not. Heck, no one but me touches my imported Pokemon DP Nintendo DS Lite (got it long before US release).

Don't know if this counts but I was beaten up recently by some-one for reasons I have not yet fully understood though I'm slowly getting there, no one in the room had an idea why and they all claimed he just directed it at the nearest closeby, I however insist that I annoyed him with some-thing others aren't, realizing I'm no better if I sue him than any person was who has put some mediaeval guy to burn because he questioned the existence of God, due to legal shit with the insurance company I had to pay myself to replace:

- Notebook
- Expensive headphones
- Creative Zen

He got me pretty badly, was literally stamping on me (head) as I lied on the ground with his full weight... happened months back and my head still hurts some-times in some places.

Expensive endeavour.

Does breaking count? If so...

cell phone - I used to always leave my cell phone in my pockets and they went through the wash and never worked again. After the second time I was told that if it happened a third time I would never get a cell phone again (unless I bought it myself). I never forgot where I left my phone again. Threats work well o.o

Oh and I droped at least $25 at the mall. My pockets were too damn small and the money just fell out when I wasn't paying attention :/

My mother once was extremely pissed at me that my mobile phone was found in the washing machine, which I paid for myself, whole argument of why she should care because I paid for it myself and I dig cheap 10 EUR mobile phones and would just buy another and then I suddenly got an idea and asked 'In what trousers did you find them?', turned out she had put those trousers in the wash, not I, ahahaha.

I burst out laughing and asked for 10 EUR + 2 administration costs to get a new one.

3 cellphones
Unknown ammount of money through different times
Various stationary during all the school years
Notes for exams. Now that's most likely the most expensive thing I have EVER lost, I falied the two exams I lost the notes horribly and had to pay to retake them... And study again to retake them.
Glasses (squee it was SO cool to find them in my sister's room years later)

And when I was little this stupid boy in my class sold my prized holographic pokemon card AND stole my gameboy to play pokemon Blue and to delete my whole game. Oh my poor charizard. T^T

Also got my wallet stolen recently, with all documents, credit card and visa... Some cash, a picture of my dog... Really annoying, but that does not count as "losing" =p

Expensive, not technically. Valuable, apparently.

I lost my wallet during my second semester of university, during the most painful week of school, nonetheless, finals. Semi-long story to follow.

After allowing my parents to scream at me over the phone for 30 minutes before they realized that besides my ID, about $10 cash, and my debit card (which had like, $60 on it... yeah, poor university student) there wasn't anything really worthwhile for somebody to take, I filed it at the lost and found desk and proceeded to go about my day. It wouldn't have been such a bad thing except for the events that followed.

I had a math final the next day and was doing last minute review that same night when my TI-84 decided to inform me that my batteries were low. It then proceeded to die completely seconds later. I figured I probably had extra batteries lying around that would get me through the following day, if nothing else. After practically destroying my apartment in my search I realized that I did not, and I had lost my wallet so I had no money to buy them with.

I quickly reminded myself of the spare change I always dumped into a cup in the corner of the room whenever emptying the pockets of dirty laundry. Although I'd be pissing off the clerk by paying with dimes and nickels, the change should've been enough to cover the cost of four measly batteries. I'd just go down there in the morning before the test, buy them and be on my way.

I realized moments later after re-checking the testing schedule that it really wouldn't be so easy. I'd made the stupid decision at the beginning of that semester to take my math class at 8 AM. My final was scheduled for 7 AM. The bookstore at the university didn't open until 9 AM. Since school was walking distance and I carpooled for groceries I had no means of transportation to a store that might've opened in time to buy the batteries.

I panicked for about an hour, barely managed three hours of sleep, and ended up walking through ice and snow two and a half blocks to wake a friend up at five in the morning (she wasn't too thrilled) to ask for batteries. Luckily she had what I needed and I was saved. To make matters better, my only other test that day was an AutoCAD project that I finished in half the time, went home and passed out (mental exhaustion, for the lose).

Coincidentally, the same day I lost my wallet (and my reasoning as the cause of losing it) I was informed by the school that I'd won an iPod after doing one of the random surveys they always send me. I was told to bring my ID down to the administration office to verify and claim my winnings. After doing so, I returned home to find my wallet missing. I retraced my steps many times over but never found it (it was later returned to me through the lost and found, money intact).

So the theme of the story goes, is losing one's wallet and the subsequent series of 'unlucky' events worth winning a 30 Gig iPod Video?

My answer....
