| At first I was like... "Meh..." Then I was like... "Comedy Shinsengumi? Sold." But then I was like... "Meh..." Then again it was basically a twenty minute episode stretched into a 40+ minute one so I can see how it would improve from here. |
| Just keep watching and don't mind the first couple of episodes, this show takes a little time to get into its stride. Soon you too will be squealing with delight every time you spot a Justaway. |

I would have given it a much lower score based on the first few episodes. Most people would, but the reason it is rated so high is because everyone gave it a chance. However chances are if you absolutely hated the first ep you won't like Gintama as much as I do. I recommend you hang in there for a bit, but Gintama isn't for everyone Can you tell me specifically why you gave it a one? I can't see how it deserves that.. |
| I didn't like the first ep that much but I would hang to it. Some of the best anime don't show much potential on episode 1.. Like One piece. You'll love it after 20 or 30 episode. :3 |

| I was a little disappointed with the first episode...it wasn't as funny as I thought it would be. I understand though that it will probably just get funnier from here so I'll keep watching. |

| I'm simply amazed. Just finished (forcefully) first episode and i already feel absolutely no interest in picking another one. And this is anime that is ranked so highly in MAL (#2)... I probably should keep watching it and try to discover it's greatness but, i just don't want.>< Really, the first episode of Gintama was a real torture and it was so bad that i without any shadow of doubt rate it a 1 (unwatchable) out of 10 and drop it. I guess it's just completely not to my taste.=] |

| First 20 or so episodes of Gintama are pretty slow/character development. From then on though, it definitely deserves all the hype it gets. |

| It was ... boring.. I expected much more from the anime rated so high. I didn't even find it funny. The only time I actually smiled was when Gintoki said he wanted to have a Bankai. But as many people say it gets better later... I'll give it a chance then.. |
| Another in-medias-res premiere. I wish series creators wouldn't do this. It looks like episode 3 goes back and covers chapter 1 of the manga. |

I hope you're right, 'cause even if the episode was so-so I didn't find out why this anime is so overrated. The episode was ok with me, but still... Anyway, I get now why they say that Sket Dance is similar to Gintama. Well, that's only partly true. The band members has totally different characters, which is enough for me to make the shows different by themselves :P The OP was great, the ED sucked though. |
