| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- So this episode everyone learns that Ace is Roger's son, and Sabo's father has put out a finder's fee. Also, we learn of the Celestial Dragons coming to the island come Spring. So much lead up it's almost unbearable, but I think I'll manage. Overall, not a bad episode. |

Id ratherthey just animate this flashback normally and then do that, and maybe take a month off at the same point the manga did. I think their gonna make episodes about the crew like they did before: 2 crew mates for an episode. They could 3/5 - episode was good but we have seen better ones... |

Nah I think they will be back to 1 chapter per episode or maybe go for 1.5chapter per episode. I actually just noticed how they added the stuff that Oda just made short, next episode they will finish the chapter they are in and go back to 1 chapter per episode pace. I'm sure of it. :> |

| After this flashback there is still a lot of the post-war arc still to cover before the 2 years later, this flashback is just part of the post-war arc. I don't really want to spoil the manga but with the current pace I could see the timeskip happening around episode 510-515 depending how they drag things. It's a bit slow but I still really enjoyed this episode. I really enjoyed this flashback in the manga so a bit of extra to it in the anime is quite nice but lets face it, everyone wants the timeskip to hurry the fuck up lol. |

In the manga plot from current episodes was shown as simple pictures, like e.g. a picture of Luffy almost felling from the bridge and Ace&Sado helping him. Anime stuff is just getting one picture and adding some plot to it. |

| Since the old man is so epic with Haki and makes passing mention of Roger, it's acceptable filler. Ace never got over hating Roger, did he? |

| I nearly feel out of my chair when Luffy walked in and said that. Was priceless. I'm loving the pace of the anime so far. You really get to the feel the connection build between these three, which will definitely make the ending of this arc so powerful. Can't wait to finish this arc. |

| This arc (even though it's mostly filler) is better than the whole impel down + marinefold arc. Just goes to show how bad the previous arc(s) was. I hope things will get better now. I guess this proves that fillers, if done right, are better than dragging canon episodes... |

| These episodes are definitely helping my understanding of Luffy. I always knew he cared for his nakama to the point he'd die for them. But, I contextualized it as that was what he valued and that's what he saw a good man would do. As a way of saying I like that Shanks did that for me so I want to do that for other people, I see Shanks as the ideal person so I too want to be that way. Of course he loved them but I thought it came from who he wanted to be. Yet, we can see more of his motivations now. "Being lonely is more painful than being hurt", and how he always fantasized about having a crew of brothers, he was so happy to have them. There's another layer of vulnerability that makes him more human. He wants friends, he wants a crew that's like a family to him, he cherishes connection and hates having those connections broken. Which goes quite well with his ideal of being like Shanks one day. :> I felt so bad for the Shanks bear Ace attacked. He saved Luffy from that tiger if I recall when he was chasing Ace. He didn't show aggression towards them until Ace attacked. He has a shanks scar and he protected Luffy, I think that's symbolic of that bears good intentions and I bet we're going to see more of that later. At first I thought Sabo telling Luffy about Ace's dad was a sign of trust in Luffy, but he told Naguri too. Someone he hardly knows. I'm thinking Sabo may not have as big of a mouth as Luffy but he has a big one too. They don't know they can trust Naguri! And, Ace hearing someone praise the dad he resents must be hard for him. Regardless, "Luffy act casual!", "Don't worry!", "Hey Ace I didn't know you were home!", "Hey Ace I didn't know your father was roger!". Naguri is quite cute. I like how he was flattered when Luffy complimented him, he definitely doesn't see himself as a great pirate anymore. So a fair bit is in place now. Sabo's dad now knowing he's alive is getting Bluejam to look for him through his territory. I guess he ended up laying off Ace as they made a name for themselves and to still not be caught is a little odd. That shanks bear is definitely coming back to save the day if you ask me, and now with Bluejam involved again we can probably have Dadan helping the boys too. On top of all of that a Celestial Dragon is coming to Goa Kingdom, I was just comparing them to the royalty of the town in Goa recently... We can assume either Luffy didn't run into them or he forgot about them because as far as I remember he had no clue who Celestial Dragon's were in Sabaody. |
| They have a long way to go before they'll be able to beat up that tiger and Bluejam so it's a good thing that the old guy's there to help. Sabo's father just had to approach the worst and shadiest people for the job, huh. A Celestial Dragon entering the mix makes me want to think that he'll end up getting beaten up and robbed by the kids soon lmao |

| Probably my least favorite episode of the flashbacks. I’m glad Luffy found out about aces true father. And I guess the old guy could help Luffy fight little better in the upcoming weeks. |
