I'm Chris, but some of my online aliases are Nymphetamine2791 (or Nymph for short) and more recently ChrisCrossCrash. Outside of televised anime I watched as a kid, I became immersed into anime when I was around 15 due to my sister.
My anime list score distribution was probably a lot higher from when I initially joined MAL, but I've tried re-scoring based on how much I remember enjoying a series. My average has probably shifted ever so slightly, but I'm sure it still ranks higher from people who tend to rate more critically. My scores are based off personal enjoyment, and generally speaking, I still enjoy a series if I score it a 7. Back in high school/early college, my current 7 scores were more than likely 8s, but I'm trying to emphasize more on when I watch a series I feel is a 9 or 10, rather than belittle my 7s and 8s.
I've always been a fan of the romance/drama genre, especially in high school/early college, but I can appreciate a lot of well constructed series. Lately I've taken a personal liking towards anything with a serious plot that involves the protagonist maturing significantly through emotional hardships and generally death. If you combine some romance into that mix it's practically asking for me to rate it a potential 9 or 10 assuming the plot and characters are actually developed. I guess a good example for me would be Akame ga Kill or Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu- so if you'd like to recommend a series along those lines which I haven't seen, I'd definitely appreciate it.
I have a degree in mechanical engineering and currently work as an engineer, but a lot of my free time is spent playing music, going to raves/music festivals, working on my cars/racing, spending time with friends/family, and obviously anime.
I'm all for anime recommendations and open discussions on any topic, but I do not accept random friend requests.
To my Clannad fans:
"If you knew the real me, it would shatter your illusion."
"Then come on. Shatter my illusion. Because I don't know what else I can do to stop loving you."
"I don't want to bother you, but if there's a chance, I will never give up... because what I'm afraid of most is not getting an answer..."
--Amagami - Love Goes On!
"Knocking others down to gain an advantage is a fruitless endeavor. It means they've given up on winning any other way."
"If someone were to ask me when I fell in love with her, I wouldn't be able to answer. The best I'd be able to come up with is "it just happened at some point, but I didn't realize it." If someone were to ask me why I love her, though, then I could answer much more easily."
"I just want to sleep and eat. I should have been born as a panda in a zoo!"
"When you're up high, all the stuff that looks confusing and messed up... suddenly becomes crystal clear."
--Senna from Bleach: Memories of Nobody
"Humans don't see what they don't want to see. No one wants to be put down. That's why people do nothing even when they do know something is happening."
--Highschool of The Dead
"This is like the Alamo!"
"Didn't the Alamo fall?"
"I DON'T WANNA HEAR IT!"
--Highschool of The Dead
"You think that you can strike me down if you suppress Ryūjin Jakka? How naive. How dizzyingly naive. Why do you think that I held the position of Captain-Commander of the Gotei 13 for a thousand years? It is because, in a thousand years, no Shinigami stronger than myself has been born."
--Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto from Bleach
"Hey, are you sure about choosing me?"
"Yeah, I think you've turned me into a masochist."
--Itazura na Kiss
"There is no tree that won't fall after you chop it ten times. Chop it well. If you do, then the tree might fall today or even tomorrow."
--Unbalance X Unbalance
"Getting dumped makes a man stronger. And if he's not able to laugh it off, he won't be able to fulfill his duties as a man."
"Unless I grip the sword, I can not protect you. While gripping the sword I can not embrace you."

My Personality Test:
High school to early college:
"INFJs, making up an estimated 1% of all people, are the most rare type (males even more so). They are introspective, caring, sensitive, gentle and complex people that strive for peace and derive satisfaction from helping others. INFJs are highly intuitive, empathetic and dedicated listeners. These traits tend to act as a "tell me what's wrong" sign on their forehead, hence the nicknames Confidant, Counselor or Empath. INFJs are intensely private and deeply committed to their beliefs. "
INFJ - The "Confidant"
After college to present:
"ISTJs are responsible, loyal and hard working. They have an acute sense of right and wrong and work hard at preserving established norms and traditions. Because of their deep sense of duty they are dedicated to everything they do and are very dependable. ISTJs care deeply for those closest to them."
