-animeS - The plural of anime is anime. More than one deer is still deer. There is no damn "s".

Say, you're already in the mid-20's/30's and have a family of your own. Would you still see yourself watching anime, perhaps even with your kids?

I am in my mid 20's and have a family and I watch anime so that should answer your question for many here.

There's no telling. I was an addict for 4 years. I left it 6 months ago. Just very occasional eps. And I'm 18.

I don't see why not. It's basically no different than if I were to watch a television series, which many people do regardless of age. My genre preferences would probably change a bit, but that's something I'd take for granted. I'll probably watch more "seinen" series than "shounen" series, for example.

The only awkward aspect is subs vs. dubs, although still. Hypothetically if I had a family, I'd probably save some free time for myself during the week to watch anime online. Probably later at night; kids in bed, wife doing something else somewhere else, assuming she's not an anime fan herself.

Hmm. It's hard to compare to western animation series, since those are pretty much always aimed at younger audiences (even shows like South Park, kind of.). In anime, it's a little more spread around with demographics.

Heck yeah, but if the anime is too violent, I wouldn't watch it in front of my kids, but I'd still watch it, just when they're at like school or something. I'll still be watching anime when I'm 80. XD

I'm pretty sure of it. I grew up watching anime and if the day ever comes I get kids I'll show them some anime which might actually teach them some stuff. Pretty sad that most people think it's just all kiddie-stuff.

99% people who say yes are really optimistic OR they can go to future and see it for themselves and make sure OR you're weaboo and can't see outside of the box yet. I mean really you have to be pretty optimistic to say that, 2 years ago I thought that I'll like to play computer games till I get old, 7 years ago I though that I won't like math and won't get good at it either, both have changed. Just my 2 cents.

Just joined the forums, and at forty, with two small children, still watch anime and read manga. In fact, my habits are shifting to reading almost exclusively manga right now!

Of course. Even if my family weren't interested I'd force them to watch it until they do. Same with Disney etc.

I would eventually stop. Maybe once I get married and have kids. Because I want my focus to be on my husband and my kids, and if I have a career. However, I will influence my kids to watch anime when they get old enough for it.

When I am 90 and in the hospital I will be spending my last moments watching anime.
Now watching it with my anime with my family-put it this way-if they were watching it with me I would be watching completely different animes.

anime is made for older people in the first place, you shouldnt be watching anime if your a kid, i guess at the least you should be around 16, some people should be mature enough to handle it instead of gigling at fanservice and rating up stuff becouse its gorey like most kids in anime do,

The only reason I see to ever stop watching anime would be losing interest in it. I don't think that's gonna happen any time soon but... who knows? I'm not gonna stop watching for anything else, and age is an irrelevant thing as long as I keep enjoying it.

Probably will watch less and only good show. Time must not be wasted when your an adult, your job, chores, and maybe children. Right now I'm watching anime to either pass the time or find enjoyment.

Whenever I visit my mother at her house she asks me to bring along some manga to read.

Now and then we also watch anime together. She's sixty now and is particularly fond of Satoshi Kon, Makoto Shinkai and Ghibli films.

My taste has changed, i'm older now and I don't really watch a lot of action based anime... it's evolved into more dramas/slice of life and personal development stories instead. I can see myself still enjoying those genres as well as video games at a more advanced age, you just had to be more responsible with your time later on.

Well, you've watched more anime than I have but I'm actually "older" with a hubby and I just discovered anime so I think that you might be a bit off on your assumptions. My friends are older than me as well, some with kids, others without and many of them watch anime and play video games as well. Many involve their kids in it as a family hobby, just like family picnics/outings/sports/board games, etc. Then, there are the number of "older" --side note, since when has 20s/30s been considered older? I still think of myself as rather young but anyway-- persons who watch anime with their children. I'm just saying that your three explanations aren't the only plausible ones.

Of course I would share anime with my family. There are so many things to learn from this medium, that I feel it would be an insult to *not* share these with my family. They've made me the way I am.

I do get bored easily with things that once I was obsessing over. So I could stop watching anime at some point, only to have an anime relapse later on. That's how it works out with me.

What will never change for sure, is that I will always be obsessing over something. Probably something greeky.
