I have to admit that the show was dark for Nickelodeon, but there isn't enough adult material in it to warrant a spot on Adult Swim. I think it would have fared more on a network like MTV (I mean the MTV of the late 90s/early 00s when both music videos and original programming were shown). There's an edginess to Invader Zim that doesn't feel right on a channel like Nickelodeon. |

| The author of the series was Jhonen Vasquez, which explains why it was so enjoyable. Prior to Invader Zim, btw, Jhonen Vasquez authored a comic called Johnny The Homicidal Maniac, and an associated comic called Happy Noodle Boy. Read them, now.  Nickelodeon also brushed up with goth subculture on Billy and Mandy. They had a song by Voltaire -- which is fucking brilliant. | Don't forget Jhonen also wrote Squee, I feel sick, and Fillerbunny! He also directed the music video "shut me up" for MSI. Jhonen is aloso one of the more interesting celebrities to follow on twitter. ;) but yeah, ANYWAY. I thought invader zim got cancelled because nickelodeon decided it was too violent. Then they decided to bring it back but Jhonen turned down the opportunity to keep making episodes. |

| I watch it every once in a while when my brother puts it on. I didn't like it too much as a kid, but now I wish I had. It's a pretty great show. I think I still prefer flapjack and adventure time, but it's taking chowder's spot as my third favorite western cartoon. |

| Invader Zim was popular with teenagers, not with little kids, but since more little kids watch Nickelodeon than teenagers, the show had low ratings. Plus it was expensive by Nickelodeon standards. | Sadly it was cancelled, but reruns of it are finally playing again on nicktoons. I do wish they would come out with NEW episodes. I absolutely love that show. |

| Invader zim was actually an alien in Jhonen Vasquez's comic 'Johnny the Homicidal Maniac'. He would appear every once in a while that would eat brains of people. When Nickelodeon found this out, they cancelled the show right away. Which stinks because right before it got cancelled Jhonen wrote about 12 more episodes that were never made. But the scripts are somewhere online if you search hard enough. |
