Reggaeton. It's poison. Everybody in my family has, in spite of all the things we may disagree on, agreed that Reggaeton is poison. ☣️

I'm probably going to get a lot of heat from this, but most rap songs since it feels like they are talking more than singing.

YES the literal "noise" music scene in NYC around 2012, now long gone.

I cant find it anymore, but it was a "band" randomly clanking on instruments making noise with random chords thrown all over. It is EXACTLY like you're imagining. No prewritten songs.. but they still had tracks/albums and played live shows. It made no sense and had ZERO flow or rhythm. No singing. None of the songs had an identifiable quality- same random noise. It was chaotic "let randomness guide you as you play the instrument" garbage lol. It came across very pompous.

Like I said I can't find it anymore, but they did have "albums" on Youtube with the tracks. I remember the album cover was something pompous like piles of Jenga pieces or something. "GET IT?"

THIS girl singing (badly) is 1000 times better that the "music" from that scene lol. At least there's some musical quality not just random shit.

You're right that type is barely music most times.

... but if you had to listen to this you might be begging for that speak-mumble-rap 😂😂😂😂

I doubt there's any, if a sequence of sounds has a rhythm, then I consider it music.

Except for one "song" I don't consider any genre to be "noise", no matter if I listen to it or not, despite not liking psytrance and stuff like that it is still music.

I think you misunderstand what Noise is about. It is about expression not making formal music that uses music theory. It can contain musical elements to it but can be very improvisational since it is someone expressing their emotions through sound. I totally get it on the side of the artist since it is absolutely venting an probably feels great. I can get it with an audience since they can just feel the emotions with them. I dont so much get who would listen to it as an album.

Japan's noise scene is pretty entertaining

The only ones I know by name are rap and hip hop.

Already forgot dubstep is a thing that existed at some point in time. That, too.

I think it tends to be more a case of who gives music a chance. I originally expanded my tastes by just using Pandora radio and LastFM forcing myself to explore every genre until I heard something I like or I start to understand the genres.

@traed idk man... it was nothing like the videos you posted or @Kuroneko99's... shit was terrible!!!

Maybe it was therapeutic for the artists? That's interesting I didnt think of that. But it also came across pretentious to me.

If I were to describe the sound from that NYC band... it was like dishes being thrown down several different stairs at once. I guess it was kinda like this in real instrument form, but slower and two streams of this playing out of sync with random drums and I feel like they might have had a brass instrument of some kind.

@traed I think it's also a matter of perspectives. If you only listen to music to party or something like that, I can see how "it's just noise reeeh" would be a valid complaint about some of the most extreme genres (not about hip hop or metal or something like that, it's just called being an ass lol). But I listen to music to cook, I listen to music to read, I listen to music to sleep, I listen to music to get into an introspective state or shut down my inner monologue, or even just to experience various emotions, including negative ones.

I guess some of the stuff I listen to wouldn't count as music for a good 90% of this planet's population 😂 Like, some of the most extreme doom or darksynth stuff is already pushing it for grandmas and normies:

But I'd probably still party (hard) to this, even if I mostly use it to completely obliterate my inner monologue and find peace of mind. But then there's shit like Earth 2, or some Boris tracks. Good luck with that one for example:

@Retro8bit You're telling me this isn't music?

In all seriousness, I adore Dan Dan Kokoro Hikareteku. I would say I feel bad for Americans but most I met online loved this kind of thing back then.

Anyway, taste/music is subjective, etc. I can't speak, I enjoy Crazy Frog.

Another hero? Oh, please!

My controversial opinion is black metal. I say controversial because a lot of elitists love black metal and think bands like Burzum are the modern day Bach or something. For me it's just noise recorded in the lowest quality possible because it fits the mood or something. If you want extreme metal that actually sounds like music, try progressive death metal. And yes I'm aware that I just complained about black metal elitists while recommending another genre with a notoriously elitist fanbase.

Also, whatever genre Iannis Xenakis' music is part of (apparently the genre is called musique concrète according to wikipedia). Looking at his process for writing his pieces, I refuse to believe he even meant for his crap to be music. He just took all the complex math he learned at university (he was a civil engineer) and was like "I wonder what this theorem is gonna sound like". Well the answer is noise, dissonance and endless glissandos.

This is going to sound strange but literal noise music the genre. I can't get into it. It is so avant garde that it is unlistenable.
