| Well i know this is the internet and the sole reason for the internet was to spread the word of Jesus until all the pedophiles and Jews took it over and now its a giant hate machine... but why is there so much nerd on nerd hate on the iNet? Especially amongst anime fans and gamers? I'm curious because, one minute there would be a nice and thoughtful conversation about anime x, then something turns up and it goes a completely different direction. I know the iNet coined the term trolling and there are countless reasons to go off topic or on tangents. But its like it never makes any sense, like "anime x sucks you are all stupid!" Don't you ever feel like so what about it? Especially on video games as well. Something doesn't work a certain persons way so they make it their personal crusade across the game forums to "convince" other people not to play x game or buy x console. When in reality their thoughts and opinions are usually hardly ever justified. Is it just human nature to hate on random useless shit? On top of that, is it human nature to sound incoherent and pointless when you rage? ...like now? heh. PS: sidenote, is there a FF app or something where you can just block out specific posts?? |

As for your question, it's a combination of anonymity and an innate desire to assert your own opinion in a public space. The anonymity prevents any actual backlash, and any successful troll makes that person feel self-important. From a risk-benefit perspective, it isn't that bad of a deal. It's best to just ignore these opinions and move on, as any response (like this thread for example), just lets them win. | What you described is for me the most annoying human trait. Not knowing that their opinions are subjective (combined with the tendency to search for mistakes everywhere but in themselves). It sounds so obvious, and it is, but many people just don't get it. And even if they pretend to get it, they still try to come up with some pseudo objective critics because they can't get over the fact that there is no such thing. As I have stated before in other threads, since you don't actually have to face the person you are talking to, it is easy to start arguments with others since you don't have to worry about it offending them. It is up to me to form an opinion and if i want to be affected by his words and in what way. He can do nothing more than speak. And is good that he can speak, it means that i can speak too, as he can. We can all speak. But i care if the government decide to ban the game and not let me see it. Because when they decide they don't like something they don't ever bother trying to speak to me, they just decide for me. And the scary thing is that they can do that about everything. |

So i think this topic should be a considered a passable success. As for the topic, I really enjoyed reading the input. I agree with most of them.
