For me, I kept seeing this strange object in anime that characters would play with sometimes. One day I decided to look up what this thing was. It's a "kendama" - a little wooden toy that's like a combination of yo-yo, ball in a cup, and juggling. I look up videos of it; and it looks kinda silly but also like a lot of fun. After thinking about it for a few months I finally get one. It IS a lot of fun! Glad I got it.

Anyone else get into something they enjoy because of anime?

I think anime rekindled my passion for drawing, especially Blue Period. I also have a coloring book that I enjoy filling out.
I might show some pictures some day.

If collecting anime figures counts? then yeah that. Had no interest in anything like statue/figure collecting beforehand.

Thanks to One Punch Man, I have a daily exercise routine that keeps me in shape.
It's more varied than the 100 a day he has.

I actually started to go the gym after watching How Heavy Are The Dumbbells You Lift? It gave me motivation and also give me an insight of what facilities are in a gym. Another one would be Zom 100 Bucket List of The Dead which has prompted me to go to as many gigs and experience new places due to the overall theme of the show.

Not really a hobby or an activity, but watching Dr Stone season 1 made me run out and buy ramen that same day.

Pokemon card collection and beyblade as kids.
Started drawing characters even though I sucked at art.
Started collecting physical manga volumes.
Starting playing volleyball due to Haikyuu.
Changed my grip style in table tennis due to ping pong the animation.
If you enjoyed the time you wasted, then its not a waste of time.

Toy photography and crafting (kind of). Because of anime I collect some anime figures, and I don't like just displaying them so I started doing photography and crafting some sets for them.

I picked up drinking from Grand Blue. Have you ever tried their oolong tea? It's good as hell but you can only drink like one of them for real.

Anime helped rekindle my love for reading which led to me picking up manga and now I have a manga collection and some merch.

When I saw Chihayafuru, I seriously considered starting to play Karuta, it just seemed like so much fun. Unfortunately after finding out I had to learn Japanese, since the game does not know an English, Spanish or French variant, I quickly became discouraged. Also realising that there aren't many competitors in my vicinity was the nail on the coffin.

Because of anime having unfinished shows, I started reading manga & then I discovered manhwa. I like reading manhwa, as a kid I used to read a lot of comics.
I don't know who quotes me and then deletes the comment, but know that you make my day.

STEAM's GOTY 2024 the Ghost of Tsushima

Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 compared to other games released in 2024 is without a doubt a masterpiece.
HOWEVER...
Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 compared to far older games like Gears of War from 2006 is pretty lackluster and has lots of room for improvement -> 5.5/10

Nope. I got into Anime/EDM around the same time. I've looked into vlogs but I mean I've seen sitcoms prior to anime. I've seen travel shows prior to anime.

I've experienced Japanese games before even if not anime ones. I owned and enjoyed Metroplismana on PS2 a visual novel city builder or some JRPGs before I did anime, manga, visual novels, OVAs, Drama CDs and more.

I mean from Metropolismania like many games they kind of indirectly got me into EDM/sampled music structures so Metropolismania sort of prepping me for visual novels without realising was something I didn't think of but am now or did when I replayed it a few times in the last few years.

I knew what Western Majhong via the Windows Vista/7 era was but not Japanese Majhong.

I already understood Chess so to me Shogi isn't that far off even if more pieces and their rules so it's easy enough for me to follow. I never knew as much about Chess puzzles but I never seeked out Chess puzzles or Chess moves and terms I just played it for fun like any board game.

I've been on forums or made wikis later in life because of other games but not because of anime. I'd discovered Vocaloids because of anime I'm not into it.

Most things in anime whether I care for them in certain arcs or not no (crime arcs, sports, festivals, their history/field trips, things in the country that anime exaggerates and more). I watch what I care about.

I always had an interest in gaming/behind the scenes before seeing New Game, or other gaming hobby/game development series.

I hear about Japanese things but I don't seek them out other than if I find a need to know what it/dictionary definition but nothing more than that.

I come across terms from the community, I have no reason to use them other than in the community/subtle Japanese understanding but hardly enough.

Joined the Pokemon league in the 90's, got into boxing for a while after seeing Hajime no Ippo. Then I got into tennis after reading/watching Baby Steps. I got pretty good and thanks to it I lost close to 90lbs in just a year. Then I won $200 in a weightloss competition and used the money to buy weed.

One year ago, watching Re:Creator motivated me to start writing. Though I had a fair share of writing short stories during my high school years, but never ever been an anime that rekindles that passion again other than Re:Creator. Now, I've been writing an isekai short story and several other short stories, nothing too fancy, just a personal project of mine. Still, much has to learn.

"Tenchi Muyo!" was a complete Phenomenon in Japan throughout most of the 1990's...
and Picked up real hard in popularity in the U.S. for a brief period in the early-2000's.

i was there at ground zero... and TM! was, essentially, the first major Anime series i was deeply invested in that was not Mecha-related.

In Fact; My TM! Fandom was centrally responsible for driving me into Anime Character Dolls and their Customization potential.

i started out with a full set of TOYNAMI's very clumsy 12in. TM! Dolls around 2001/2002...
and in 2023/2024, i came back Full Circle, after a fashion, by acquiring TAKARA's two-doll mid-90's Juraiian Alien-Princess pair,
both of which being long-time Grails of mine... and both being very amenable to an upgrade to the fabulous 2018 OBITSU 26cm. Doll Body~

A lot of you seem to have gotten more active due to anime.

I also became more regular with my exercise after reading Plus-Sized Elf. There's lots of little tips and exercises peppered in there. Looking forward to the adaptation.

A bit mixed up between game, anime/manga when i was a kid.
I copy movements from fighting games like bloody roar 2 and legend of legaia, while reflex type from Shijou Saikyou no Deshi Kenichi, since then i like and prefer reflex/mix-based martial arts. have karate lesson and some tournament but quit in high school, went to grappling martial arts club but not really like it and quit.
Starting to like drawing because of tail concerto, which is a game not anime but start drawing anime characters after that because of cute characters there but quit and more focusing on scripting/3d modeling for game development. kind of regret it because i don't continue drawing anymore though.

Yes, I started buying and reading manga, mostly because one of my favorite animes (Elfen Lied) got an incomplete adaptation and I wanted to know the end of the story. It kinda snowballed after that and now I have a decent collection. I like it.
