The 23rd and final episode of Jujutsu Kaisen 2nd Season announced a sequel on Friday. MAPPA is returning to produce the sequel adapting the Shimetsu Kaiyuu (Culling Game) arc.

The first anime season aired in 24 episodes in Fall 2020. The second season premiered on July 6. Crunchyroll simulcast both seasons worldwide, excluding Asia.

Jujutsu Kaisen adapts Akutami Gege's supernatural action sequel manga, which began in Weekly Shounen Jump in March 2018. Shueisha shipped the 24th volume on October 4, with the 25th volume scheduled to be released on January 4. The manga has a cumulative 80 million copies of its volumes in circulation, including digital editions.

Akutami serialized the original prequel manga in Jump GIGA from April to July in 2017. Shueisha published the manga as volume zero the following December. VIZ Media released the volume in English under the title Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Jujutsu High in January 2021.

VIZ Media simulpubs the manga digitally with the Japanese release through its Shounen Jump service and shipped the 21st volume on November 21. Shueisha's Manga Plus platform also began simulpublishing the manga in English in January 2019.

Curious to know what will be the trend during this sequel after, "Working conditions were horrible", era.

This arc though, they'd have to hire two narrators.

Great news, the Culling Game is, IMO, even better than Shibuya and I already love Shibuya enough as it is. Many hype moments in this arc that I absolutely can't wait to see animated.

i heard some current staff like animators will quit well they are freelancers anyway same story with how the old staff of season 1 is now doing other anime i heard so i expect a new batch of staff like animators doing this sequel

lets see how many new staff like animators can mappa hire before they run out of people to recruit for more sequels

imo the culling game is weaker than shibuya so im waiting for the final battle or arc or final season after that

Great news! Arc consists of more than 60 chapters, so 24-26 episodes to air.

@thebrentinator24 Will every blockbuster anime now divide its seasons into arcs to be more detail-oriented and less distracting?

@RobertBobert Hmmm I doubt every blockbuster will do that, but I suppose I can't say for certain.

3-4, hell even 5 yrs, the workers deserves so much break. The thing is though, Culling Game is very lengthy and I don't even know where they can even end it off. Surely though the manga is ending soon and could finish in 2024-2025 so that's pretty much how I can tell by how much they can adapt later on.

@CQLLIST With how greedy is the producers and MAPPA, it will take max 1 year for them to release maybe the next fall season.
Don't expect 3-4 years production time, they gonna milk this cow until its dry.

Mappa pushing the animator's to their absolute limits. I was hoping they would get a break after Season 2, but with this announcement as well as the announcement for the Reze movie, they definitely are not.

@Mcdoclin, they will take a break of course, season 3 will air next year, not earlier.

@Memore Culling game is a pretty lengthy arc, even longer than Shibuya. That's not enough time for the animator's to get a break and be able animate the season at the same time. It is one or the other, and you should know very well which one it will be.

@Mcdoclin, I don't know, simply hope that they will get enough rest.

I love it when sequels are announced right away, even in the season finale. I recall an old favorite anime from a while back doing this, but then the Manga-ka stopped creating the source altogether. Oops.
