| Mappa did not disappoint. I was blown away. They poured a lot of love into this project for sure. The OP song was beautiful and epic. It caught me by the hook to watch the show. And boy was it good. I love the interaction between Yamada Asaemon Sagiri and Gabimaru. She completely saw through Gabimaru's lies with her sword. Her sword tells the truth. As Gabimaru's executioner, she saw that Gabimaru does have an attachment to life and loves his wife. The flashback with Gabimaru and his wife gave me goosebumps. It was very emotional. This first episode started off strong and can't wait to see more of it. |

| "Hey, I know this guy survived beheading, burning to death, is stronger than two fucking bulls and killed 20 men before being subdued, but let's charge at him with just six guys! I'm sure it'll work this time! Oh there's the shogun's executioner too that just endured head to head combat with him without flinching, but I'm sure she's not that big of a deal. Kill her too!" Extremely dumb and nonsensical ending made only for convenience to show how badass the protagonist is, almost ruined it for me, but fun episode overall. I'm interested to see what comes next. |

| That felt dull for a story that should feel more passionate(?), this guy is able to avoid death because of his love for his wife so maybe something more similar to the visuals from the opening would have made this theme stronger but I liked the scene with the boat and the corpse, that was good. |

| Sort of a standard shounen ep 1 setting up a grand adventure. We got a real edgy boy who is actually not that edgy and just loves his wife. And apparently we doing the hunger games thing. |
| So far it was okay, i thought that there were nothing good this seasons but few unpopular titles are good so far. |
