| Well, I wasn't expecting Shouxue to be competitive outside of her usual talent. It's interesting to hear Shouxue get advice from others. Meanwhile, this felt like a calmer episode compared to some of the more recent ones. |

| Man I’ve enjoyed seeing Shoxue grow up so much right in front of our eyes. She’s had to carry so many burdens ever since she was young and her clan was banished, then becoming the heir apparent of the raven consort and all those duties. Like the emperor said it’s important to remember she’s only a 16 year old girl and it’s ok to rely on other for help. Her actions already show she’s at that point, but I’d say we’re probably an episode away from her calling the others her “friends”. Magpie consort looks really bad omg that dude must be draining the life force from people and then killing them which explains the heavy bucket he was carrying in that other episode. “Slurping and groaning” damn that sounds fun. |

| Seeing the characters play Go was certainly quite intriguing, but the most important part of the episode was the investigation of the Magpie Consort, and with that, brings some bad news, as the Owl is there to lure Shouxue into his trap to kill her, while draining the life-force out of the Magpie consort, which I would expect is why she is bedridden. Shouxue with some nice development this episode, but will it all be for naught as the Owl is poised to end her? |
| That Xiaoyue guy is so scary. It was like he can kill Shouxue anytime he want. I really hope that Wen Ying is still safe somewhere inside that palace. |

| Yet another mystery case of a Quechao Palace court lady dying because of xiangfu incense (which is incense burnt to remember loved ones), and what Wen Ying noticed truly shocks as this time, it's by a beast with visible tooth marks. But the way that her throat was slit out, would also suggest that the culprit could be a human as well. Xue Xuyong sharing more information about the Raven Consort and its predecessors before Shouxue, and that certainly raises intrigue in the bloodline of the Consort. As both Gaojun and Shouxue rest playing go and having sweets, the case is raised again, and Gaojun's response that the Magpie Consort has it, is surprising to also investigate on her as well. Sending the deceased Xue Cheng's spirit away and closing the leads on the Magpie Consort, this Feng Xiaoyue's arrival started messing around, and it's telliing of Shouxue's fear that this matter is not a simple one to solve, because it would affect her life as well. So then, seeking help from her Ajie to understand her suffering would be a wise choice to help her in the long run. But it turns out that the more the 16-year-old Raven Consort has people on her side, the more she feels weak and less independent, and in this case, Shouxue really needs all the help she could get. Sure enough, the trip to Quechao Palace where the Magpie Consort lived, there is a man hell bent on Shouxue's death, and he has successfully infiltrated the palace walls. What will happen to Shouxue? |

| Thought there was going to be a Hikaru no Go reference somewhere in this episode. The 8 year fate of death after the successor has been chosen. After all the bonds she's created in just a short time, I can see why Shouxue would be afraid to leave it all behind. Wonder what the emperor will do. If that fate is true then she won't die now since there is no successor yet. Hopefully this curse can be broken before then. On another note, what's with Xuo Yue. Is he like a vampire or something sucking the life force out of the Magpie Consort? |

| I was like "Yeaaah! The yuri princess wasn't a one-off character!" but the one here was the Swallow Consort, the one in ep. 8 was the Magpie Consort. |

| Shit is getting real! I hope the eunuch dudes brought something to fight/defend themselves with, like a dagger. Seriously, these dudes need to carry a sword if they're essentially royal bodyguards. That owl guy is sounding more like a vampire monster. But at the start of the episode, it was a woman's voice saying she needed more blood...that couldn't be the magpie consort, could it? Maybe she's trying to revive her brother that fell from a horse, draining the blood of court ladies as well as herself like Elizabeth Bathroy. By the way...does anybody know what those treats were called in that box she was given? Especially the little twisty one that the emperor also gave her earlier that left some crumbs, that looked similar to the more round rope-like twisty ones in the box. I'm curious about what those snacks are called. The moon cakes and bao were easy enough, but I don't know the names of the other ones. Update: Never mind, I found out that the smaller flatter ones earlier given by the emperor were called "ribbon biscuits" or "egg twists", which can be made with or without black sesame seeds. And the latter ones in the box of snacks that were more rounded rope-shape were "mahua" or fried dough twist. They're both deep-fried dough snacks, similar to modern doughnuts, with apparently thousands of years of history. Interesting. I'm going into a rabbit hole of youtube recipes now, lol. |

| finally the mystery of that woman who came to shouxue to ask for resurrection is solved. they finally meet this owl fucker. he has to be something for even our shouxue to fear him. it seems like there is still a little hope for some romance between emperor and shouxue. fingers crossed. only 2 more episodes left of this absolute gem of an anime. i really hope a season 2 is announced. 5/5. |

| Man, I hope Shouxue gets a happy ending, c'mon Gaojun, free her from the fate of Raven Consorts. Great episode! Jesus Christ, the owl is genuinely terrifying, I hope Wen Ying is alright. Shouxue being motivated to defeat Gaojun in Go was hilarious. The forest scene was really good, I really hope things change for the better for Shouxue. Really looking forward to the next episode. |

| Yeah that owl guy is terrifying especially with the evil grin at the end. I'm glad that Shouxue has people around her even though I understand her concern in making her more vulnerable (or weaker as she said) but I think her friends, including the emperor, will help in defeating the owl guy. |

| Hehe, this time, Jusetsu dresses as a eunuch. I like how Tan Kai is having fun teasing Jiu Jiu. Whoa, cannibalism huh? A human ripped the girl's throat that died in the previous episode. Hmm, 8 years after a new Raven Consort is chosen, the old one dies. Let's see if Koushun finds any clue to free the Raven Consorts of their fate. Hehe, Jusetsu plays Go with Koushun, but loses. Oh, the cute looks when he asks why she is not wearing the pendant and when she says she doesn't want to lose it. Jusetsu realises that the owl guy is here, and he is here to kill her. Jusetsu is worried about On Kei and goes to Magpie Consort's place, with Koushun. She finds the owl guy near the Magpie Consort's bed. Something serious is gonna happen in the next 2 episodes. |
