Pony Canyon opened an official website for the anime adaptation of Rihito Takarai's Ten Count manga on Saturday, revealing the main cast, staff, teaser visual (pictured), and movie format. The anime is scheduled to open in 2023.

Shinnosuke Tachibana (Kamisama Hajimemashita) and Tomoaki Maeno (Hitorijime My Hero) are reprising their roles from the drama CD as Tadaomi Shirotani and Riku Kurose, respectively.

Staff
Director, Script: Sou Toyama (Grandeek)
Character Design: Tomomi Shimazaki (Youkai Apartment no Yuuga na Nichijou)
Studio: East Fish Studio, SynergySP
Distributor: Pony Canyon

Takarai serialized the boys love drama manga in Dear+ magazine from July 2013 to November 2017. The sixth and final volume was released in March 2018.

VIZ Media's SuBLime imprint licensed the manga in English in 2015 and shipped the sixth and final volume in December 2018.

Synopsis
Tadaomi Shirotani is the secretary to the company president of Tosawa Corporation—and is a severe mysophobe. His obsessive-compulsive disorder has limited him in every aspect, from being unable to leave the house without a pair of gloves on, to cleaning his hands vigorously enough to make them bleed.

When the president gets into an accident, he is saved by a mysterious young man who departs as quickly as he appears. Ordered to go after him, Shirotani meets Riku Kurose, a man who is able to quickly identify his mysophobia. Begrudgingly taking his advice to seek help from a professional, Shirotani visits Shimada Psychosomatics with the hope of seeing a psychiatrist. When he once again runs into Kurose there, the man reveals that he himself is a counselor at the clinic, and offers to treat Shirotani's condition.

Kurose asks him to write a list of 10 things he is reluctant to do—thus beginning his course of exposure therapy. Yet, Shirotani wonders why Kurose would show such kindness to a stranger. After all, the two have barely met, and Kurose does not deny the accusations of an ulterior motive.

With number 10 on the list left blank by an undecided Shirotani, Kurose issues a challenge. Once Shirotani figures out the last item, the thing he would hate to do the most, only then will his newfound counselor finally tell him the truth. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

For a dramatic BL erotica, this adaptation has a rather calmy poster.

This is a female character in a BL drama, what do you want? The author seems to respect the spirit of the old school and ignores all these caricature attempts of modern BL authors to be feminist.

Yes, I also has fears that some scenes will be removed. That is why it should have TV format as some delicate scenes can be freely redrawn or added from the start on the Blu ray discs.

Not sure where you're getting this from, but "caricature attempts" isn't something I'd describe female characters as in the last decade of BL manga. What does it have to do with feminism? They could've easily just thought to themselves, I want a good female character in my story for xy reasons apart from "feminism". And it can and does work.

Yes, of all BL mangas I have read ALL women were depicted as normal and pretty interesting.

Because the trend towards the positive depiction of female characters as allies in BL literally began after years of quite open criticism of BL as misogynistic media. The depiction of female characters in BL is a discourse whose breadth is second only to discussion of the realism of gay representation in the genre.

There is a reason why every girl in the theater wears a big round dimed glasses and a face mask, lmao.

I wouldn't want to be seen watching this in public too.

Oh! So the censored version on TV format and the uncensored version on bluray? That sounds good~ I really like the idea, hopefully it's true.. but I guess it's okay too if it's in a movie format, because it would be a shame if they had to cut/censor some very important scenes just so everyone could watch it :(

But either way I just want to see the animated version of Kurose and Shirotani :") 6 Lovers didn't help T--T

That dude doesn't know what he's talking about, BL tends to attract a bunch of hot takes from people who never read one or are eternally stuck in 2005.

Also this stuff is pretty much porn, not sure why they'd even bother on TV rather than a movie.

Problem is that they ALREADY REMOVED ALL SEX SCENES FROM THE MOVE as they marked its genre as Shonen-ai sadly.

You are right. The manga is yaoi, but the movie adaptation is shonen-ai. So either they show us such scenes as scetches like in Umibe no Etranger movie nor they won't show them at all.

Actually, based on what I've seen in the past, movies seem to get more leeway when it comes to showing sexual scenes since they can control the age viewing (i.e. 17 or 18+) like Blue Lynx did with Saeazuru. Read some interviews even, where directors said they had to remove/censor lots of scenes because of the TV format (since anyone, including those underage, can access TV more easily) - this has been true for many anime such as Love Stage, Dakaretai Otoko, Super Lovers, etc.

Also, these movies do get blu-ray releases (but I've never witnessed any differences/bonus scenes in them...you're saying this happened for TV shows?)...as far as I'm aware, (and apart from thhe Saezuru movie) only anime like Yarichin, Koisuru Boukun, Seitokaichou ni Chuukoku, Ikoku Irokoi Romantan seem to get the least censored releases.

And where does it the "shounen-ai" listing appear? As far as I'm aware, it's tagged as the very general "Boys Love" that MAL recently introduced..(that tag is attached to both hentai titles like Mori no Kuma-san, Toumin-chuu. and shounen-ai titles like Sasaki to Miyano)

Honestly I was hoping the Ten Count adaptation would be more or less like Saezuru (since it's a movie). I find Saezuru's adaptation good as an anime that has a lot of explicit scenes, and of course with it being a movie it helps a lot.. but yeah, Saezuru has erotica tag too, while Ten Count doesn't :(

Yes, Blue Lynx did a great job with Saezuru movie! They didn't remove yaoi scenes. I also like Saezuru movie! Great adaptation! There is also an OVA which adapt story from the manga. They announced the second movie also. Let's wait for it! I am sure it would be also done as great as the first one!

Yes, in TV series some scenes are removed or omitted and then added on Blu ray discs. This practicse is quite common. Not only scenes, but also redrawings and error corrections.

I saw this tag on one site. Hope this movie will be as great as the Saezuru Tori wa Habatakanai: The Clouds Gather. They added yaoi scenes there, it looks so amazing! Lest's hope for the best!

I really hope the studios understand by now the consequences of unfaithfully adapting BL titles with lots of smut by removing it or grossly censoring it (if Ten Count is as you said - I haven't read the manga after all...)

We can only hope that yaoi will also be in the movie.

It was postponed because staff couldn't decide what content should be in the movie.
