Why is everyone complaining? It's not like this question can't be discussed. Oh well, I guess some people just love to bitch.

Anyway, I'm pretty happy and content as long as it's sunny and warm out. A relaxing life is all I need to be truely satisfied and content.

As long as I have enough income to support a small home/apartment and keep myself fed I am pretty satisfied, but what makes life "good" would be: the easy access to beautiful areas (ie. Red River Gorge), a few high quality books and anime, a few wonderful friends, and strong family connections.

All in all though that stuff is a given to those who work for it so, when it boils down to the most simple form I agree with the above poster, Pompeii, "I'm pretty happy and content as long as it's sunny and warm out." - they know how to enjoy life!
"Because we don't know when we will die, we get to think of life as an inexhaustible well. And yet everything happens only a certain number of times, and a very small number really. How many more times will you remember a certain afternoon of your childhood, an afternoon that is so deeply a part of your being that you can't even conceive of your life without it? Perhaps four, or five times more? Perhaps not even that. How many more times will you watch the full moon rise? Perhaps twenty. And yet it all seems limitless..."

being loved by many
being hated by some (i don't hate them back)
not being the best at everything
not being the worst at anything
having someone to look up to
having a goal to accomplish

so i currently love my life

Sometimes I just feel like,
Quittin', I still might,
Why do I put up this fight,
Why do I still write?

"Mutatis mutandis the same is manifestly true in the case of a pure 'internal psychology' or a 'purely intentional' psychology (within the real of a natural positivity), which we have alluded to as the parallel to constitutional transcendental phenomenology" --Excerpt from Husserl.

I wish that was vague and not hair splitting.

In any case, 'good' is not abstract but a universal quality, that is why it is hard to pin down into something particular. Likewise, I find the good life the contemplative life.
I dunno, that doesn't sound vague, that just sounds hard to understand. Vague would mean it's likely to misinterpret and not lack of understanding altogether. Or at least, that's how I used the word. :< But yeah, philosophy class is probably pretty vague itself, but it seems like some other form of arbitrary-ness.

Who cares about freedom if you feel miserable? I'd rather be caged and happy than free and depressed.

@Dark_Puddles

a good life is having wealth (different than being rich), an ideal and sexy life partner, good friends, self confidece ( generally liking yourself and who you are) and being able to artistically express yourself successfully

and lots of sexy orgies. drugs, parties, wild stories, and experiences

Freedom for what exactly? There are people who are happier than other people with more freedom.

Some people are still too optimistic about this freedom term, when in reality, restraint is always needed for optimality. And optimization is not about maximizing one aspect. It's about maximizing the trade-off benefit and cost differences. So kudos for seeing the problem with that naive one-word comment.

I would've said "a politician's life," but since this is GD, I'd say having a stable job that I enjoy, being surrounded with family and good friends, and having enough time for leisure.

what about living your life to the fullest? i currently don't know how to live like that =[

there's a saying i heard
"They say someone needs just three things to be truly happy in the world : someone to love, something to do, and something to hope for"
or
"People are just about as happy as they make up their mind to be"
or
"The greatest challenge in life is finding someone who knows all your flaws, differences, and mistakes, and still loves you with everything they have."

maybe u can find out more by searching for quotes
