| I prefer subs because anime is japanese, although there are anime from China. Unsure if those have other names like manga, manhwa and the chinese one for manga. |

| 99% of the time no but its a case by case basis. It fucking bothers me so much that Galarian characters in Pokemon Journeys do not have a British or Scottish accent. Alejandro Saab does a good job in the anime, but the Masters actors for the Sword and Shield characters have a more realistic accent for their nationality. Idk why they didn't give the characters accents in the Journeys anime it would have really helped with the immersion |

| no. when i first started watching anime, i would test out both the sub and dub versions and hope for a good dub bcos to me that was preferable, but now i just watch sub no matter what. |

| For some reason, I had an urge to watch Great Pretender in dub for that exact reason. I watched the first episode in dub because I thought it would feel better, being that they were Los Angeles. However, I ultimately continued the rest of the show with subs because I'm a subs person through and through so it didn't feel right to choose dub. |

| Honestly it would be cool if they got(good) VA's from they're respective countries to voice act as characters from different countries. For example, they got a good russian VA to voice act as a russian person, etc. |

| Not that I prefer it or not, but I don't mind it. I can do some anime dubbed and majority of the stuff I watch is subbed. I mean if the dubbed is good for it and it's set in the Western side, sure I would probably think it'll match it a little more better. But yeah I have no issue whatsoever as long as it's well done. |
| Hmm this is an interesting question, I feel like an anime that fits perfectly under this question would be Hellsing Ultimate; but Hellsing Ultimate takes place in Europe, and for the dub; most characters in the series (besides Alucard) have a European accent such as Alexander Anderson who was Scottish, but the interesting thing is that his dub voice actor is literally from Scotland as well. The same can be said about Integra, her dub voice has an English accent but her dub voice actor is from the U.K. But what's also interesting is that in Hellsing Ultimate, the major has a german accent but his dub voice actor is from the U.K, but the dub voice is really well done. So I feel like in some cases it can be fine, I thought Hellsing Ultimate did a fantastic job with the dub but in other cases, it can be pretty cringy, an example of this would be Infinite Stratos where the girls come from different countries but they have accents in the dub and I found it to be really cringe Looks like I found the dubbed anime that @AnimeLeviathan wanted |

| Talking about dubs on MAL is such a lost cost because of the people aren't even willing to be open to the idea of a good dub. Also I have a strong feeling most of the people here haven't even watched a dub that came out in the last 10 years. Also do people who don't like dubs just hate all the voice acting in western video games? Since almost all dub voice actors also do VA work for games. |

| I frequently watch and enjoy American English dubs, and I used to think that dubs might be more appropriate for series set in English-speaking countries or perhaps even other western countries. But I found that the setting doesn't seem to correlate much to whether I enjoy the dub. I enjoy dubs of shows set in Japan just fine. Except may be when there's wordplay. The language spoken doesn't seem to factor into my cultural expectations. First, the cultural elements often aren't the focus of the show anyway, and besides, English is my native language, which means that stuff that I hear in English doesn't go through a filter of "it's in English!" when I listen to it. That said, the fact that it's my native language might not matter, since I don't think stuff goes through a filter of "it's in Japanese!" either when I listen to Japanese dialogue; instead it just sounds foreign. I know, cognitively, that it's Japanese, and I can recognize that it's Japanese based on the phonemes, but it's not the same as "feeling" something as being more fitting or less fitting to a story. |

| I hate it when anime thinks that we need to hear the correct language being spoken whenever they are in a certain part of the globe. When I'm watching Golden Wind, my first thought isn't that they are speaking Japanese in Italy, it's that they are in Italy and that's all that matters to me. |

| In my mind, anime is in Japanese regardless of the setting. I used to watch dub as a kid, but that's only because I didn't know how to read. From then on, it was always sub. It makes me uncomfortable to watch dub and it feels like I'm not watching anime. I also prefer sub over dub because I think dub removes a lot of the character's personality conveyed in their speech by the Japanese voice actors. I also appreciate the communication hierarchy as it is meaningful to character interactions and reflects the Japanese culture (For example, referring to someone as XXX-san as opposed to referring to a friend or someone they want to tease as xxxx-chan). |

I prefer dub always and it seems like anytime I voice that opinion people attack me (not on here because I haven't voiced it till now) and its never the other way around in my experience always sub watchers telling dub watchers how stupid they are for having their own preference. |

| nah, hell for even shows like Black Lagoon I watched it in sub, I just can’t keep a straight face hearing dub voice actors in anime; which is funny because in every other form of entertainment I have no problem like video game voice actors I like English for example I saw the Demon Slayer movie trailer in dub to see if it was any good and God was it horrendous legit sounds like a fucking parody |

| It honestly depends if the dub is good enough to warrant a watch, and whether if I'm too tired, watching anime on Netflix on my phone, or if I want to watch it in the background (like I did with DB & DBZ) |

| It certainly helps if the English dub is good. The famous ones, like Baccano, Hellsing Ultimate or Black Lagoon, where the characters are canonically speaking English anyway and all happen to have fantastic English voice acting, there isn't really any reason to watch the Japanese dub. |
