This is from this year's Easter Egg Hunt. Since the route is still up, it hasn't been changed back to the original title yet. Once the route has been taken down, the title will be correct again.

That said, does anyone know why is the main title "Herlock" when the actual transcription is supposed to be Harlock, as seen literally on the poster of the entry?

You all need to watch Nami.

That stems from a translation error.

In Japanese Katakana he's written "Haarokku", so I feel "Harlock" would be the better translation.

In Europe at least the original series was called "Captain Harlock".

In the US the original series never really aired, because instead someone cut the two animes "Queen Millenia" and "Captain Harlock" together into one anime (trust me, it's even more confusing than it sounds) and called that "Captain Harlock And The Queen Of A Thousand Years".

Then there was "Harlock Saga" which was released in the US under that name (Toonami).

Later on another translation studio took over the translation. Both "Captain Harlock Endless Odyssey" and the original "Captain Harlock" (not the weird meshup) got released on DVD, but that translation studio called him "Captain Herlock" as you can see here:

I assume they took that name actually from the latin name the Japanese wrote on the manga (novel?) cover:

Since Japanese tend to be very bad at English, they probably just didn't know how to write it in latin so that it's pronounced correctly.

It's not consistent even in Japan:

For the movie they used "Harlock" again, though, even on the Japanese movie cover.

So yeah, you're right "Captain Herlock" is actually incorrect here. Both Japanese and English title are "Space Pirate Captain Harlock".
